El Toro completed its first test run a while ago and it is said it flew through the course!! Pictures are up on GADV.com and hopefully video will be up soon as well!
-
^YEP! My friend called me from the park when it happened. He said it flew through the cicuit and says it hasn't tested since.

-
Awesome
I will be in the park on Tuesday and Wed. so I will get some pics
and maybe break out my video camera.
-
That is so amazing. I am so ready to run that first day to the line and wait!
:)
-
GAInsider just posted their video!
http://www.gainsider.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1285&st=0
It's Just Amazing getting to see it again and again! It was tough to get an overall view as we were running over to the twister section!
-
All we need now is a opening date to cap off this great day, but I'm sure that won't come for a little while longer.
-
Wow what a great way to top off the weekend . We haven't been to the park in a few weeks we have been very busy here but can't wait till 6/3 to visit and either hopefully see it test or actually get a ride in but that may be very wishful thinking . :)
-
Not only will we remember the Vetrans from wars, we will remember when Toro finally started testing!
Great picture to all, Now excuse me while I clean up my puddle of drool
-
Just heard from Chuck who is in line for Kingda Ka after park closing - El Toro is testing again!!! :)
-
Cool
I hope this is where they keep it going more then once

we just need some steady testing and some good video
-
/\ Photos are fixed ;)
-
Wow! Looks great! It's awesome to see it running again!
-
I was there this evening and saw El Toro do it's thing at about 6:30 PM.
Very very slow up the lift and the stopped at the top for a while while workers checked things out.
It sounds like they are starting to run it a little more frequently!!
Edit: Opps...My wife just told me it was closer to 7:00 PM when we were there. So it probably only ran twice on the 31st, no 6:30 run. Sorry, My brain was still a little shaken from Kingda Ka. And when you are in the park who really cares what time it is. ;)
-
Yes, I agree. You saw it around 6:30 and then these pictures were taken a little after 7 and then Chuck was in line for Ka (go figure) after park closing around 8:10 and saw it again so this would seem to be good news!
-
thanks wade my computer wasnt letting me place the photos in my post.......
-
So that's 3 test runs today ?
The song of the day is Aerosmith's
"Train keep a rolling all night long "
what will we do next year ? that's two yeas in a row of excitement
-
Good stuff! I posted a link over here from GAI so people have to come here to see the photos, mwhah ;)
-
If I knew it was going to test today I would of stayed in the park longer ! >:(
Any word if Chiller Robin Re-opened anytime today ?
-
I saw it test last night twice. The thing makes the same noise as the Collossos does when it goes over its hill(if you don't know what I am talking about go to ThemeParkReview and download that video of it). The thing flies through its course and I saw it go through the twister section from Ka's exit ramp, AWESOME!
-
:o
Toro is already flying! Considering that it is going to get faster and faster as time goes on, I'm getting ready for some major ejector air 8)
-
Here is a High Res Video 27mb of ET testing from gainsider.com
http://www.gainsider.com/video/eltoro-1sttest.zip
WIth my updated 8mp down comast connection it took me only 8 seconds to download the 27mb file awesome only $10 more a month they are trying to compete with FIOS.
I like the Afro below :afro:
-
HOLY BANDWIDTH :o
That was awesome guys! Thanks :afro:
-
I just came back from the park and El Toro constinenly tested from 7:30pm till when the park closed, which is awesome. I got pictures and video which I am uploading as we speak. The second train is on the transfer track wrapped in plastic.
Any other questions just ask?

Awesome Pics Chuck! So were they running the lift full speed? If so, how fast does it look? (Is there video?!)
-
Chuck, it's your world....I'm just living in it!
Great pics man, opening is coming closer and closer!
-
They were running the lift until it reached the top, then it stopped for about 20 seconds. This thing had to be going at least 10-15 mph. The video will be up tomorrow morning.
-
Yes! Great pics Chuck. You're so lucky you saw the twister section! I'm extremely jealous!
-
The headchopper on RT is good. I thought it would be better but I can't wait to see Toro going with RT racing, that would be a sight!
-
Amazing pics Chuck! Nice to see that El Toro is now testing consistently.
-
Toro tested while we were there on 6/3 later in the afternoon i would say around 5:30 or 6:00 . There were two people on the lift hill watching the train go up very ,very slowley . i was wondering if the lift hill is giving them a problem it seemed very slow and if anyone has been to CP and seen MF go up that type of lift hill it is pretty fast as to me yesterday ET looked at a point where it was moving to be going very slow. This is ONLY what i am thinking I can be totally off but just by looking at what i say this is what I am thinking. Also ET not really noisey as I expected it to be for some reason or maybe it is because we were by the lake when it tested. Good to see it run though and can't wait for it to open .
-
/\ no worries :) They are just being cautious to make sure everything is lined up correctly to prevent any damage. There is a lot that goes on to enage and disengage the train. At this point, I'm not aware of any issues with the ride ;)
edit: Sorry Chuck! I almost forgot to say NICE PHOTOS! lol. That entire area will feel back to life with RT racing, El Toro open and the bridge back open!
-
Great photos, indeed.
And what's really needed in that area--as I see it--is me in it! :)
-
I thought RT had to be closed while they are testing ET? ???
Nice pictures by the way. ;D
-
I thought so too. But while I was going up RT's lift the train went down the drop and it flew the twister section while I was on it.
RT ran all night yesterday while Toro was testing...
-
I finally got to enter PDC two days ago and while I thought it was good, it showed me how much the Golden Kingdom spoiled us. I did not get the "Wow, this is NOT Great Adventure!" feeling when walking into Plaza del Carnaval. The area was quite dead, but everything was closed so what can you expect! I had a bit of anticipointment due to the lack of that great feeling I had last year, but I was all better once I turned around. As I was leaving, I felt like I was walking back into Great Adventure. The Golden Kingdom has more of a mystical feel to it, but once PDC gets into full swing, it will have it's own flavor that will take you to a new place. I can't wait to see that day.
-
Here is the video that I took last night. It is very similiar to the one GAInsider took, but here it is.

While it was great being back on RT, the crew today was the worst we've ever seen. They were so SLOW and only dispatched a train about every 10 minutes. We never left the station and we only got 7 rides in an hour.
Sue
-
ONLY seven rides in an hour?
I am sure Ka fans will extend you tons of sympathy! :)
-
Awesome video Chuck! El Toro flies over the hills. :)
-
That is some bada** airtime folks ;D. i just wish Steve U. could be here to see this :'(. We all knew how much he was looking forward to it :'(.
-
/\ tell me about it :(
-
Ain't that the truth.
He'll be there.
I know Steve.
Yep, he'll be there...with us all.
-
Awesome video.
The ride is longer than that though right???
-
Yes, it just travels over Rolling Thunder into the infield for the twister part, which is hard to capture on video from any angle.
-
Ahhh ... got it.
Thanks Bubba.
-
You MUST check out this new video at insider! http://gainsider.com
-
Wow, being the fact Iv'e never seem El Toro testing yet, it really blew me away, great video insider, it makes me more excited to ride it as it crusies over those hills and runs through the turnaround with perfect execution!
-
Great Video.
The train goes up the hill "freakishly" Fast
and the trains going to the turn around is very quit like the beginning of a oncoming
thunderstorm wind ( a gentle roar) listen at the beginning of the video.
I'm ready to ride now.
-
yesterday El Toro was running for almost 2 hours stright not even stopping it was great and was running smooth, it looked great from RT.
sorry no photos this time
-
Did it stop at the top of the lift during these runs ?
-
^According to the guys at GAI, yes, it was stopping at the top of the lift yesterday.
-
no it really didnt ..... well before it really picked up and started to continusly go it was stopped at the top but when they got it to go it never stopped.
-
What is the point of the stop at the top of this lift, Last time I Checked this wasnt a dive coaster...
-
To stop and check if anything is wrong, no sense of tearing the ride a new lift during testing.
-
This is a brand new system for woodies.. id imagine there are tons of precautions to take before actually just letting it roll right through. Its not that big of a deal really. As a matter of fact, since it has 2 trains, perhaps this could be a possible block break if needed.
-
^That idea would work, but then we wouldn't get the speed around the hairpin turn before the drop...
-

Yeehaww!!!!
-
Those are VERY odd looking dummies in the front seat!
-

Thanks GAcoaster for that awesome picture!!
-
Awesome thats what I like to see Humans on Toro.
http://amusementpics.com/2006%20Expansion.htm
Looks like they are hanging on tight and having a blast.

-
^That's oddly evil and great. Now to get the state to approve, the second train operating, <100 hours of testing, and anything else to get this thing running.
-
And hopefully give us some advaced notice of when opening day is. if you've read my posts on Source you know why. I just don't like last minute suprises >:(.
-
^Not that I don't have the time to read through 152 pages over at the source, but you could just make it easier and explain Why here. ;)
-
Very funny looking dummies in the front of that train . :o
I am thinking that this ride may open soon. If we all rmember that only a few days maybe a week after KK got it's first human test dummies didn't it open to the GP? I could be wrong but that is what I was thinking. Sure wish I was one of those dummies ;).
-
If El Toro opens on a weekday, i'm going to have to put in a "personal day" request at work. Personal day requests must be made 24hours in advance, i'd like at least 48 hours. If i call in sick, i'll get 1 more attendance point. i already have one from last wednesday when i called in sick due to a stomach virus. 6 points get you fired. so you see why i'd like as much warning as possible.
I know, the attendance point system at OTC sucks diesel exhaust. But it succeded in driving out alot of good people and keeping in alot of bad ones >:(
-
Somehow, it seems that Great Adventure is a business. They will open the ride as quickly as it is safe to do so. With or without notice to anyone, as they deem best for the business.
I know many of us would like to know when. Sometimes that is possible, sometimes it isn't.
It will be open. Soon, no doubt. And we will all get our chances to ride it.
I know patience is hard, but the park has a multi-million dollar investment here, wants to promote it and the park as well as it can, and wants to do the right thing.
We have to trust them. They are doing the best they can for safety, for the park and for us all.
-
I couldn't have said it better!
