Cedar Point and Kings Island are getting the same ride as well.

I was close... I said buy 2 get one free. I guess it was buy 3 get 1 free. The wonderland makes some sense. It will be the tallest thing there. Also they put it kind of a dead spot of the park. Plus you can look down at wonder mountain. Thats kind of cool. At the point, it looks funny to see all the rides that are already as tall, taller, or very nearly as tall.
Title: Re: CW: Windseeker
Post by: AV Matt on August 24, 2010, 08:24:37 PM
Yeah, it's just another tall thingy at CP.  I think it's a great addition (and location) for Wonderland.

I agree !!! But at Six Flags this might be an up-charge ride ??

I'm not super stoked about it. But i'm not dissapointed either.
Title: Re: CW: Windseeker
Post by: AV Matt on August 25, 2010, 06:55:18 PM
It's a shame something so simple has to cost so much though. Seems like a waste of money. I have a feeling anyone who is attracted to the parks by the prospect of that ride will be disappointed. Other than going up high it doesn't really do anything exciting. A Yo-Yo or Wave Swinger style motion with chained chairs would be OMG thrilling though.

I learned long ago not to judge rides I have not ridden yet, but you go right ahead.  It's a Mondial...and in my experience Mondial does not make boring rides...

I learned long ago that I am pretty good at judging rides before I ride them. ;)

Mondial is to CW as B&M is to SFGA. $5 mil doesn't seem too crazy. Better than 36 for a 110% scale KA.

$150,000 for a new set of flyers. Can't be beat!
Title: Re: CW: Windseeker
Post by: GADVwow on August 26, 2010, 07:35:49 AM
The new ones are terrible, IMHO.  I'd much prefer an authentic retro set, such as at Carowinds or Knoebel's.

The ones at Indiana Beach, Camden Park, etc., I can take or leave.

And I don't think you can purchase and install a new set of fliers for anything anywhere near $150,000.  Especially not in New Jersey...
Title: Re: CW: Windseeker
Post by: AV Matt on August 26, 2010, 01:00:33 PM
The flyers themselves were selling for right around $150,000 when I looked into it a few years ago. Yes you would have to pay more for the installation.

I love the Larson Flyers. Indiana Beach's flyers would be my personal favorites if they didn't have a highly enforced "no snapping" policy. Those things are so much fun out over the water. I love the classic Bisch Rocco's too. They are all potentially great regardless of the modifications and speed reductions parks make to tame them down, *cough* Lake Compounce. The only flyers that are absolute garbage are the M&V "flyers" at Cypress Gardens.

Post by: dkny6363 on August 26, 2010, 11:18:37 PM
I was just looking in to how prevalent mondial is at wonderland and discovered 4 mondial flats. Also that alot of thier flats are rare. But not sure of the accuracy. Some help...

Cliff Hanger - Only Mondial Splashover
Sledgehammer - Only Huss Jump
Orbitor - Only Huss Skylab (similar to entrerprise)
Nightmares - 1 of 3 Huss UFO's
Psyclone - Only Mondial Revolution
Shockwave - 1 of 2 Mondial Top Scans in NA.

and I Thought this windseeker was going to be rare. Truthfully they have similar rides to most places but thiers are all Mondial instead of Huss. Psyclone, and Cliffhanger most notibly.

Adventureland, IA has a Splashover as well.

Oops, never mind. I guess it's a Moser Splashover. Or at least it is made by Moser and is called The Splash Over.

Anyone go to KI yet? Has it been operating yet? I will be riding CW's in 12 days. At least thats the plan.

KI opens Saturday, April 30.

With any luck, Windseeker will, too.  It isn't even completed yet, much less tested.

Wow, some people will be there...and from a shorter distance than in the near term future...Interpret that...

I believe Adventureland has the other top scan as well.

Adventureland (in NEW YORK) *had* a Top Scan, but removed it after a woman was thrown to her death from the ride.

Top Scans are awesome. I have only been on one once and it was the one at Canada's Wonderland, but they are definitely one of my favorite flat rides.

KI's seeker is being pushed back... May get to ride the first one ever. More likely it will get pushed back too. Wonderland usually has their stuff together on making deadlines though.

I Origionally thought that months ago but have since talked myself off that. CW doesn't do hand me downs.

Maybe my Wild Fyre the Dragon Beast Idea ;)
Title: Re: CW: Windseeker
Post by: GADVwow on May 03, 2011, 05:06:13 PM
CW does what Cedar Fair decides it will be allowed to do.  The past is not the present nor the future.

At one time, Cedar Fair didn't do parking lot coasters, either.  Been to Kings Dominion lately?
Title: Re: CW: Windseeker
Post by: AV Matt on May 03, 2011, 06:53:18 PM
Yeah, I always laugh when enthusiasts assume past patterns predict the future at parks; i.e., parking lot coasters, hand-me-downs, every X years = new coaster, and my favorite is the assumption that a park wants to have two of each manufacturer next to each other like people are saying about Hershey right now.
Title: Re: CW: Windseeker
Post by: dkny6363 on May 03, 2011, 10:15:21 PM
That groups of two thing makes me laugh... It`s just the one guy though isn`t it. It`s a cool observation, and I wouldn`t be shocked if it`s B&M.

But in all seriousness CW isn`t getting hand me downs anytime soon. CP doesn`t get them and neither should CW. Hand me downs are for the MI`s, WOF`s of the world.

Aside from the fact that CW deserves better than hand me downs there is the fact that they have no need for extra coasters that aren't high end. They have a ton of average coasters and don`t need anymore. What they need is a few high end rides, and they always like to go the high capacity route. Flight Deck doesn`t make sense from a few reasons. First of the elevation differences wouldn`t work in the area being worked on. Also it would render the current Flight Deck useless. It`s ridership has been cut in half or more since behemoth has opened, and bringing in GA`s flight deck would kill it. which would be great for me but doesn`t make sense to bring in a 20 year old coaster under these circumstances.

It might not even be a coaster... but the only other thing that might make sense there is a screaming swing. Most other major flats CW already has. Anyway`s I`m more of a wait and find out guy, then a speculate guy, so lets just wait and see.

In other news Vortex has either been painted or it has new trains. I was also told it`s really slow this year in bank buyouts. something about wheels for colder weather... does this make sense to anyone. I`d be sad if the slow down was permanent.

No I haven`t been to kings dominion lately... coaster in the parking lot? lol

If Vortex has "warm weather wheels" installed (soft wheels), it will run slow in the cooler weather. Since it's not their top attraction (for most people, not me though), they may have felt it was a waste of time to switch the wheels out when they can safely run it on the same wheel setup.

Geauga Lake's Dominator was built on the edge of the parking lot at Kings Dominion.

So I went to season pass holders night last night... windseeker was not up and running as expected. The 2012 construction site was in the very early stages. The cool thing is that you can veiw the whole area from the top of drop zone. Any thoughts on whether or not a coaster can blanket a go cart track? cuz if not then a coaster seems unlikely. Wild Beast was running better than usual. Looks like the've worked on it a bit, and it had rained. Rain always helps. Who ever told me Vortex was running slow is insane. VERY fast last night. Don't care for the new train paint job. Kind of reminds me of Flight Decks Trains at KI now. Behemoth had ALL the trims working last night. Pretty Disapointing. Usually there is one hard one and the rest are off. Last night they were all on, but very soft. Not sure I'm overly excitted about this starlight thing.. It's cool and all but seeing all the tress straped in lights didn't sit well with me. I guess we will have to see. Topped of the night with a Baconator combo, and a double double from tims. It was a good day :)

Ha! Nah, I had just gotten home from a winning evening on the beach in Long Beach Island, NJ. Chegg, steaks on the grill, margaritas, Jimmy Buffet music,  laying on the beach looking up at the stary sky with the waves rolling in. Man, I wish I lived there. I didn't want to leave. One of those perfect nights.

Title: Re: CW: Windseeker

They should build a flyer over top of it and then the coaster and go-karts can duel.
Title: Re: CW: Windseeker
Post by: dkny6363 on May 15, 2011, 11:44:32 AM
how sweet would it be if the flyer went under the go cart bridge... Can't do a flyer though we already have a SWEET flyer ;)

Nobody seems to have a good idea of what it is nor what direction it's traveling in. There was an old rumour of a floorless... but that's from years ago, before Behemoth. I think floorless concept is played out. Alot of people are guessing at something between maverick, and cheetah hunt, with Medieval Theming. But who really knows. Could be a Ferris wheel for all I know.

The CGA instalment is actually the same size as the CW one. It`s a 220ish foot tower, with a 200 foot drop... Carowinds is only a 100 foot drop. Kennywoods is taller but not but much. They just shortend Drop Zones Ques significantly... they had a maze last year sooo long that it was walk on by the time you got through it. If you sit on one side you get a perfect view of the construction zone.. I`m surprised pictures haven`t shown up yet. They do a good job on DZ wit checking for filming.

Mid June now :P

Those pics are crazy to me... But if you don't know the lay of the land they probably don't mean so much. The Mountain used to be such a symbol there. You could see it for miles. Now it's very hidden, and Behemoth is the first thing you driving up, not the Mountain.

Rumour has it that Dragon Fyre may be in it's last year. I guess we will see how emotional I get about loosing an arrow looper. I may even ride it this year... CW has never ditched a coaster though. I guess I will believe it when I see it.

Just got back from mania and windseeker ERT did not happen. CW's was working today, and yesterday not sure if it's the first full day of being totally up. Reviews are its not at all thrilling but still manages to be some what awesome in a way. Relaxing, and great views. Great Views... so why does kings island have one ;)
