The olympics roller coaster looks oddly familiar, Is it like the one that was in AstroWorld?

Yeah there are versions slightly different, but similar looping, such as the one from Six Flags AstroWorld.

The restraint system used in America was rather painful...somewhat like Viper's was at Great Adventure, but even worse.

There are steel rides worse than viper?
Damn, I would of thought that viper would be the end of painful steel rides.

And Zamperla's Flying Coasters are far, far worse. See, for instance, Time Warp at Canada's Wonderland (all thumbnails are clickable):

Super Flight at Playland is essentially the same ride.

Some of us actually liked Viper. It was certainly no more painful than say, Steel Phantom at Kennywood, or Batman and Robin: The Chiller when they opened, or the Outer Limits: Flights of Fear and Messrs Freeze when they had over the shoulder restraints.
