Jackson Online (http://www.jacksonnjonline.com/2010/08/05/exclusive-first-look-at-six-flags-great-adventures-new-rollercoaster/) has released a portion of a picture from the Jackson Township Planing Board meeting that shows some interesting details as to what we shall be getting for the 2011 season at the park. Visible in the picture is part of the layout of the ride, as well as queueing details and it's orientation in the park. Check out the story at this link here (http://www.jacksonnjonline.com/2010/08/05/exclusive-first-look-at-six-flags-great-adventures-new-rollercoaster/)!

Well now we know what ride it is. The 9-0 vote is great that Jackson doesn't give Six Flags a hard time on approvals.
-
It would be nice if they actually grow grass like the picture shows.
-
Looks like the lift hill will go in front of Superman in the parking lot
I Like this Part
The company also mentioned the 2005 approval of a hotel on the property which has yet to be built. Sources within Jackson Township, which shall remain unidentified speculated that the delay in the hotel was most likely the result of well water and septic services on the site and lack of city sewer and water facilities. The 2005 hotel plan called for the loss of a larger amount of parking spaces to accomodate the construction of the proposed hotel
-
So if they finally move through with an improved water service system, how long until the hotel's built?
(I still think it's a bad idea...)
-
I'm still confused about what I'm looking at. The green is the coaster right? (Kinda goes with the idea of it being painted green doesn't it). The red/white is the queue line? So the station load is out in the parking lot?
And that is cutting out the exit from preferred parking, so that means another change in the parking pattern next season.
I don't think there's room for a hotel there anymore, to be honest.
-
Also, pretty much 100% sure it's Chang:

It is. Although I can't quite see Thunder Run or Twisted Twins in that picture.
Oh, wait...

Medusa/Batman 2

It is going to open in spring of 2010? WOW!!!
Wait a minute............
-
Don't WOW me. I just post 'em.
-wow
-
I still don't get why with all the land they own they keep eating up the parking lot.
Besides that it's cheaper.
-
* Utilities already in area.
* Land use restrictions may well impact the portions of land not developed, including wetlands, green space, etc.
* Traffic patterns in park already in place...they want to run you past places to spend money!
-
^ and the only ride that drew a crowd in the boardwalk area was superman, so a new ride could bring a lot more people in that area.
-
Im so pumped for this ride. Ive never been on a stand up coaster before!
-
I'm gonna get my first shot at Cedar point this week, I hope I can keep my nuts as a consolation prize...
-
^Chang is much better than Mantis BTW so don't judge it by Mantis. They did make changes to the first half contrary to popular belief and I have ridden both.
-
Changes? Huh? Which coaster? Mantis or Chang?
-
Mantis. As to Chang, it's too early to know...but that would really, really surprise me.
-
I enjoyed Mantis even though everyone says it's horrible, so Chang must be pretty amazing. I'm excited for this! I hope it comes with some landscaping for Boardwalk and some cool flat rides.
-
I don't care for Mantis, though I will give it a courtesy ride. Chang, OTOH, is my 3rd favorite standup, and my 2nd favorite B&M standup (behind Scorcher, and yes, I like it better than Riddler's Revenge).
Sad to se GASM go, but at least Chang gets a new home.
-
Yeah, Mantis wasn't that bad other than two things:
1) all the blood rushed to my legs, forcing me to take rest upside down on a nearby bench.
2) monster scrape on my right leg where the "seat" was, it WAS PAINFUL.
*I hope that chang is better than Mantis because stand-ups aren't high in my mind right now. Mantis did have a good layout and it had some decent pacing, but the G's are too much in the loop (only the second time I blacked out on a coaster).
-
Chang is far, far superior to Mantis.
-
WAit you blacked out?
-
Yes, It did happen. The only other time it happened was on Batman in Good 'ol greatadv, in the first loop.*
*my dad can't ride Batman because the whole thing is black to him, he even blacks out in Nitro's hammerhead and helix.
-
WAit you blacked out?
Hey now, I almost black out on Nitro
-
never knew that was even possable
-
The helix has a lot of G's depending on where you sit. That and some are able to take more force on their bodies than others.
-
This was on screamscape.

-
Looks like they have some room for a flat or two to the right of the MCBR... I hope they're not just building a coaster.
-
1000000000 says they dont put the grass in
-
How would you know? It's not the same management. Al Weber and the new CEO are both new to Six Flags.
Also, I wouldn't make bets I couldn't pay up on. Then again, you didn't list a unit. Perhaps you meant grains of sand?
-
I'm fairly certain there will be grass this time. We'll know soon enough when they prep the site. With that said, keep in mind that they ripped up the parking lot and planted grass for Superman as well. Scream Machine, from 1989, was the last coaster they built over parking spots ;).
-
I liked Mantis, although I got that blood thing. It kind of hurt, almost - but I get that on inverted coasters also. I think I'll like Chang.
-
Even better than just grass, I hope the fill in all of those open spaces with trees!
-
Can't wait for the new coaster. Hope they rename it though it just doesn't sound right for our park or for the section its going into.
-
The theming for the boardwalk area has gone down the drain so don't worry about what they'll name it.
-
I dont really like the name Chang. How bout....... I got nothing
-
they should name it Shockwaverecycled
-
The Shocker!
-
Static E, Feel the shock!
-
Jersey Devil?
-
Jersey Devil seems more appropriate for a wooden coaster.
-
and besides, a coaster with no wooded run at all wouldn't fit with the Jersey devil name anyway.
