How about them Flyers! "AO" had nothing today. He barely had anything in the first game if the Flyers didn't get lazy at the end.

I think the Flyers should only play two periods and 5 mins. That way they would never lose.

Heh, Flyers still suck, and in the long run will lose the series

Devils in this series have not beat Lundqvist with skill, all the goals have been deflections

Nice how the rules need to be adjusted for one Rangers Player being a ...Inset not nice word here .... in front of the net on Sunday night . So when he does it again he will go to the box for 2min.  YEAH !!

Ok at least we won one ...

Why the hell are you even talking about the Flyers anyways? We arent playing you. So to me, it seems you are scared to face us again. Your team is the one playing dirty and YOU STILL LOST!

Coastermom, that seemed like interference all the way. Brodeur never had the punk and Avery was playing a body that did not have the puck. Bad missed call by the refs I say.

Its a bullsh*t rule, he didnt hurt Brodeur at all and should be able to continue to antagonize him, why should a penalty be called? It was genious if you ask me, i marty dont like it push him out of the way

BTW, NJ has only scored goals by deflections, not by outright beating the goalie like the rangers have

Im not afraid of the LAST seed playoff team that we have beaten constantly throughout the season

Shows you know nothing about hockey besides what you read on the front page of ESPN.

The Flyers Rangers series this season went 3-3-2 for Philly. I am failing to see this constant success against the Flyers here. Both look to have an equal pull of success.

So who do you guys think will be in the Eastern Conf. finals? I really would love to see the Penguins play the Candians. It would be a great matchup. Between Flyers and habs, I really cannot say who would win that series. Its going to be close.

Pitt. and Rangers, however, may not be as close. Ever since Crosby came back and they have gotten Hossa from the trade, they have been a worthy and threatening opponent in the East. I don't see the Rangers standing much chance against them.

But this is all my opinion.

Also, I am surprised Detroit made it to the 2nd round. Usually they screw up in the 1st after having a great season...
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: Dubya91 on April 23, 2008, 07:15:24 PM
Sorry bout my mixup, I thought Pittsburgh had the #1 seed.

Hahaha, The rangers have beaten Pitts. with Hossa, also I still believe that Fleurry(sp?) is suspect. Also the Rangers D is very solid. Remember, the Rangers have a Calder Trophy candidate in Lundqvist...

I think that the Habs and Flyers are evenly matched

Im gonna say, non biased, non trash talk, all serious

Rangers in 6
Flyers in 7

Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board

Clint, I'm out. Stupid work!   Look to Wade or Tom to buy them.    If Boston can take the Habs to 7 games... I also like the Flyers Chances.

Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: David Jr on April 24, 2008, 07:30:01 PM
I don't think the Flyers are going to be able to do it this time. They haven't won a game against Montreal in quite a while. And if they coudn't do it in the regular season they certainly won't be able to do it now.
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: WadeJ on April 24, 2008, 07:32:52 PM
Actually, I'm thinking the exact oppisite lol.  If there were ever a chance, this is it since they are due!
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: Dubya91 on April 24, 2008, 08:21:47 PM
Why do Philly fans always think there "due" for a championship, like entitled to it....What about Chicago?
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: overlord on April 24, 2008, 10:02:06 PM
Whoa whoa whoa. We never turned away any Billy Goats there Robb. Flyers are one of the most consistent hockey teams out there. They have missed the playoffs 8 times I believe in their 40 year franchise. Any team but the Rangers are due for a championship really.
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: WadeJ on April 24, 2008, 10:33:22 PM
Because its Philly.  For the record, the flyers got really really really screwed tonight on a crazy lame ass call the should result in a ref being fired (which it won't) because the call completely cost them the game.  And crap like that is exactly why philly is due.  A freaking shoulder check was a kneeing???  WTF!!!  That dude needs some glasses.
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: overlord on April 24, 2008, 11:46:25 PM
Was it bad refereeing? I think it was also the case that the Flyers got into their normal lazy game losing pattern in the final 2 minutes of the game. But this game showed me alot of positive play from the Flyers. To get up two goals early, to score on the power play, being physical. They just need to be more careful with the puck.
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: Dubya91 on April 25, 2008, 01:25:03 AM
Honestly I cant say I saw the game, I did catch a highlight of Montreal's very very late goal and was like WOW. I also was happy they won in OT.

You fellas got me about playoff consistency, however when we make playoffs we tend to make noice, *cough* Messier *cough*
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: overlord on April 25, 2008, 03:12:37 AM
We still haven't hit a 70 year cup drought like you Rangers. Since the making of the conferences, you have only been there once. The Flyers have 7. Two of which we turned into cups. So I am failing to see any noise coming from the Rangers.
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board

But this game showed me alot of positive play from the Flyers. To get up two goals early, to score on the power play, being physical. They just need to be more careful with the puck.

The check by Richards with his shoulder was a 100% bad call.  They called kneeing when every single person there knew it was a clean hit.  That powerplay was what resulted in the game being tied with something like 30 seconds left.  Richards doesn't make dumb plays like that.  It was a really bad call plain and simple.  I do agree that they did the typical falling apart in the last 2 minutes and obviously in OT but it wouldn't have happened had it not been for that lame call.  The high-stick goal was rather questionable to since his stick hit the cross bar on the way DOWN from hitting it in which seems to indicate his stick was over 4ft. when whacking it in.

Oh well, Saturday is another day but unfortunately, in this series only 30% of teams that lose game 1 go on to win the series.  They did look really awesome for the most part though.
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: overlord on April 25, 2008, 11:09:19 AM
Psh...stats. If you abided by them, the Flyers wouldn't have won game 7. Thats for sure. Saturday they will come back with more vengeance just like they did with the caps and completely PWN them.

The high sticking goal, I don't really agree with it if your stick starts above the crossbar in order to whack the puck in. If that was the case, alot of goals wouldn't have to be reviewed and play could move on. But I think the Flyers will come back from this.
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: Dubya91 on April 25, 2008, 01:17:08 PM
Hopefully the Flyers dont come back from this, however they probably will, Montreal's goalie is too inexperienced and is suspect.

Tonight we find out if the Vezina finalist can stop Hossa and Sid
Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: overlord on April 25, 2008, 02:15:35 PM
Huet + Caps D > Price + Habs D. The Habs are very laid back with their style of play. There wasn't too much physical play and it just seemed like the Flyers were awesome on their powerplays. But the Habs have some explosive offense which allows for them to score. If the Flyers can match up Timonnen/Coburn with the main offense, then we will be fine.

Title: Re: NHL Playoffs Board
Post by: overlord on April 30, 2008, 11:23:23 AM
Its not that Fluery is good because the Rangers keep scoring 3 goals on him. But the problem is that Rangers are taking bad penalties, they aren't matching up men properly, and they aren't playing smart hockey. So the Pens are walking all over them.

Here is a Free Agency Tracker (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/nhl/2009-free-agents.htm?csp=34) to keep up with all the signings around the league. I can't believe the Rangers picked up Brashear. I guess Avery wasn't enough goon so they needed to add another. And Marian Gaborik cannot fill the shoes of Gomez, especially after being hurt last season.

Devils look like crap really with no big signings and the loss of Gionta. Canadiens picked up alot of big names again this off season and yet they will still stink due to no team play. Marian Hossa continues to changes teams but not for long as he signed a 12 year deal with the hawks....whatt?! And lastly, the reign of Mike Knuble has come to an end in Philly as he signed with the Caps since Kozlov and Federov are returning home to Russia since they are wimps and can't win with the Caps.

Its just not him saying that, its coming to be known as the league wide standard to have those players that can have speed and score on both defense and offense.
