Post by: redlafrance on March 19, 2009, 11:27:08 AM
Anyone ever use HotWire to book a rental car?  If so how was it?

  Thanks,

I've now had 2 bad experiences with both Hotwire and Travelocity.  Although not really rental car related, they still screwed stuff up with hidden charges and surpises after the fact.  I can't say for sure if it was really their fault but I've given up on them.

Just for giggles did you try going to the actual company site for the rental car company?  99% of the time that comes out the same for me anyway and you have fewer problems.

Almost forgot...

Whatever you do, don't rent from Avis.  Stay away!  I travel constantly for a living and they basically suck.  I'm even their highest tier of Avis Preferred and they still suck.

I use Orbitz.com for all of my hotel/car needs...

Sidestep is pretty good for Flights too...

Have yet to use travelocity or hotwire.

Headed to Disneyland, hopefully will make it this time.  I usually book cars on budget's website with my airline discount.  I've been checking rates and they are insane.  I'm thinking about just taking a cab from SNA and then using ART.  Maybe renting a car for one day to drive up to USH.  Only two kinks in plan. I fly stand by and can I get to In and Out on ART.   Thanks for the input Wade.  I'm going to stay away from Hotwire.

Budget has good service but yes, they got expensive. Check on alamo and enterprise which is my preferred partner now. 5 in a row with enterprise have been perfect so far and no dog hair covering the seats!
