I was in line for front seat 2 people in front of me when I heard this loud grinding sound when they lunched a empty train.
People reported seeing "SPARKS AND FLAMES" coming out of the back.
The train made it over the top and stopped at the back of the station.
The operator said the ride was now closed down for the night.
So it's looks like it won't be running in the near future.
I'm in the park as I write this
-
Not again...
-
Not a good sign...
-
After reading another account of this and thinking about it, I'm hoping it was nothing more than a spectacular cable snap.
-
What time was this at? I was in the line at 9:30om and the ride broke down and I left, but didn't think anything of it.
-
Yes that is when it happened I was next to load in the front seat and it happened. If I took the 2nd seat like I did when I got there I would have made it on.
The 6:30pm wait was only about 17 minutes o I thought I would get 2 more in after 9pm.
-
Oh geez, I hope its just a cable snap at the worst!
-
I doubt the "flames" part but the sparks sound like nothing more than a cable snap.
We'll see what we can find out.
-
what happened was that the teal side was sent out they both launched, when the two returned (at 9.25). A guy on the teal train started saying he lost his cell phone on the ride. Well at this point they sent out the orange train, it went through the course but did not advance off the switch track at the back of station. then finally they got it in to the station, lauch whats known as a blank launch (a launch with no trains). then they sent the teal side out to test (9.45) at this point is when you heard the loud screech. according to what we were told as leaving the station. when the cell phone fell out it fell onto the launch track and hit the catch car and some sensors, it caused the computers to say there were trains waiting to be launched. there was no damage to the brake fins, but there may be damage to the cable, catch car, and sensor. this is why they tell you to secure all loose articles.
ps: i will update everybody on sunday.
-
^That doesn't sound too horrible? Oh god, we're just fueling the CP fan boys more. I really hate people who don't listen to signs. There is almost NO chance to get stuff stolen on Ka.

Thanks for the update. Keep us posted.
If this turns out to be true, I put this in the "**** happens" category. Still sucks though.
Now I wonder if the park could sue this person who lost the phone if they prove it was the culprit. There are a signs all over warning you and the ops tell you as well.
-
I will try to keep everyone updated as i find more out
-
IMO I think it has more to do with the catchcar, the bang could be the catch car banging on the side and the sparks could be the catchcar dragging on the side of the track. Cable Snap sounds like a good guess too, anything is possible till we get some concrete facts from the ops, mechanics, etc.
-

Oh geez..
-
PoS...
-
While standing inline before this happened the operater on the microphone kept reminding riders that their phones can be crushed on this ride.
He held up a cell phone as he mentioned it.
I don't know how a phone can fall out someones pocket then out of the train.
I doubt that was the problem but it could happen.
I left my phone and camera in the car no need for all the extra "stuff" in the pockets last night.
I'm sure we will here more about "nothing in the pockets"
Loose pockets sink the King
I hope it's back up and running soon.
-
If the rider was holding the phone in their hand, then it's very easy for it to end up in the launch track and cause chaos. Then it's not really bad maintenance or Intamin's fault, just a foolish rider.
-
Nitro1118: i agree with you on that.
KK is a contradiction. on one end it's a great ride, on the other it's a mechanical nightmare.
-
No update or speculations, I just wanted to post how  I feel about this happening to the park.
-
Any word on whether Ka will be running by Coaster Celebration ?
This is one of the only visits that I'm making to GA , that's why I ask.
Bruce.................................
-
I dont think you will have to worry about it being open for CC. Thats the number 1 coaster on everyones list for the celebration and I could tell you that theyre going to do whatever it takes to ensure that its open on time.
Now the cell phone mishap possibility.. cant possibly be true. I lost a camera on the great white years ago.. it landed exactly on the track, and the odds of that are VERY slim, but it is a more broad track than kings. Anywho.. I got it back.. and it was in 2 pieces. The train cut right through it like it was nothing. There is a very very small chance that a cell phone landed on the track.. let alone do that kind of damage to the train.
Of course, i suppose anything is possible
-
I'd agree with you on that, but a cell phone and a hat both caused trouble last year. IIRC, the hat last year caused 3 days of downtime, and the cell phone caused a week.
-
The track is round so if it was a cell phone it would have to wedge in the track and train somehow .
I also seen a do rag fall off someones head during CAD.
When they open I'm sure :
Empty all pockets
No Hats
do rags
glasses
cell phones
etc.
I remember when GASM opened they made everyone take off earrings I'm sure due to the the restrants so close to the ears.
-
It doesn't really have to "wedge" itself anywhere. The opening in the trough that the catchcar travels in is plenty wide for a cell phone to fall into.
-
I am sure whatever it is that the park will open the ride ASAP . the last thing they want is another KK break down that lasts months on end. The good thing about this is that it happened before the summer months when the crowds are at there worst . It gives the park time during the week when the park is closed to work on the problem .
As for empty pockets i believe as long aas there are zippers on the pockets and the zippers are closed you should be able to carry a phone etc. I always leave the kids on line for all rides they are 14 and 11 and i don't always have or want to ride they have zippered pockets on a lot of their clothes so the phone is not comming out. As for the head gear can i just say why do you need a do-rag on a ride anyway? There was a guy on KK aroud 6:30 ish at CAD that didn't want to take it off and was kind of giving them a hard time about it till he was told either it comes off the head or you come off the ride. Now one more thing too i notice some girls had a back pack with them and left it on the platformon the other side the guard came over and told them it doesn't belong in the station but I think they came up the exit with either a pass or a flash pass so where were they suppose to leave it did anyone tell them about the lockers ?? Just wondering not that it matters to me because we still have the baby and can't all be on line together anyway .
-
Hopefully (but i'm not counting on it) the mysterious SFInsider will have some news and info.
-
At the moment, there is no news to report on any way. It may take another day or so to completely know what happened and what is required to fix it.
Coastermom, I'm glad to hear you witnessed that. It says something for how serious the park takes this rule.
-
Some woman with a back pack wouldn't put it in the lockers and the guards ran after her. She lied and told the guard that the girl she was with was going to hold it while she was on the ride and they let her go. I don't know what happend past that point, but I assmue the both went on the ride.
GAdv should really make the lockers free for first 30 minutes. This should be a safety issue and not a money making proposition for the park.
I love that lady at the lockers . She has a ton of great stories if you get her talking!!
-
The girls in front of me last weekend just threw their purse on the side of the train, like people do on many rides.
In reality, there is no reason why KK cannot have storage bins, except for preserving the load times. (And to make the park money)
I went to the park today and grabbed a few shots of KK.
Cable is still Tight
(http://stew560.smugmug.com/photos/68290141-M.jpg)
Workers on the track. The guy in the middle is either holding something that looks like a Brake Fin or Brake Piston
From what I could see from the Parking Lot, Teal Train was still behind the station, Green was on the Pre-Launch Track, and Orange appeared to be in the staton. (I could be wrong)
-
well, a little info from the rumor mill.... i was there today and spoke to the guard that was sitting outside of the blocked off kingda ka. He told me that the ride should be down for 2 to 3 weeks, possibly a month, due to them needing to order parts. Ontop of it all, the ride needs to go through inspection yet again, and if it fails this time, there is no hope for the kingda ka. I was told by the security guard that if it fails, they will be taking it down and selling it due to the high maintenance it requires and the cost of its maintenance. Aparrently they already have a price tag on it as well..... 17 million!
-
I am in high doubt that they will tear the ride down . A good sign is that they are up there working on fixing it .2-3 weeks for parks is a good sign if they were going to tear it down they WOULDN"T ORDER PARTS FOR IT . Trust me they are not going to tear down a record holder and if they didn't tear down B&R the chiller after all it's problems they aren't going to tear down KK.
Hey stew i agree with you about the lockers it is a money making thing only and good for the park but not good for the customer . also maybe the ride isn't as bad off as we think have tolook on the bright side right.
-
Looks to me like a Piston
I doubled the size if that was ok with you if not mods can delete it see below(http://upload4.postimage.org/206533/p.jpg) (http://upload4.postimage.org/206533/photo_hosting.html)
-
they probably wont tear the ride down because the state will approve it. they were replacing brake pistons which were damaged and they were also replacing sensors on the train and track.
-
Trust me there is no possible way Six Flags will tear down Kingda Ka. It just won't happen. They will fix it until it passes inspection. News from some of the guards in the park is just as reliable as news from the Dippin Dots guy.
-
Through all of this, I actually am very impressed that the park quickly updated the website to inform potential guests that it is currently closed. Kudos to GA!
Peter
-
on that same topic, i was impressed with how often they warned guests before ever paying a dime to enter.
-
Yet they wont update the ride list. :x
-
What ride list?
-
You've got this:
And it is posted on the Web Page. I don't know what else they could really do.
-
They also got signs on the parking booths saying Kingda Ka will be closed today.
Update from yesterday, the teal train is behind the station stuck on the brakes and the bright green train is what it looks like the train waiting to advance onto the launch area. I wonder why they haven't put them back in the station?

I seem to remember a couple of years ago some of y'all saying Viper would never be taken down even when the rest of us were just about begging for it. So my advice is, don't think Snyder & Shapiro won't make the same decision with KK. And we all know how much was spent on Viper's upkeep.
-
but david KK is the world record holder to rip it down is just plain out right stupid. MANY coaster riders come from all over the place to ride this ride. I drove 9 hours to Ohio to ride TTD and waited hours in line before KK ever opened just because it was the tallest and fastest . I don't see Cp ripping down TTD just because it had down time and alsoremember that TTD had people get hurt on it as KK has been lucky no one was hurt on it yet. (thank god) just had to point this out to everyone that says they are going to rip it down just think of the loss of the title alone will keep SF from ripping it down.
-
Also consider the fact that El Toro is taking over Viper's former spot.
While they are somewhat similar situations and I don't know for sure, I would say that Viper was removed mainly to build El Toro, not just because of upkeep costs, downtime, and the fact that the people who liked it like me were in the minority. While Sharpiro doesn't like it, I highly doubt that it would be removed.
-
The one thing you guys aren't putting into perspective is that if the rude doesn't pass inspection for like the 30th time, then we have a major problem on our hands!
mod edit: Please do not post in all caps.
-
KK will not be taken down !!!!!!! Six Flags would then give back the world record to Cedar Point . Six flags will not be a laughing stock of the industry.
You don't take 25 million and throw it out the window. (then the cost it would take to dismantle it) which may run 5 -10 million ?
As coastermom said this is a world record people come from around the world to ride this.
TV shows are made about KK .
This is the fastest,Tallest on EARTH and is the reason I bought my first season pass in more then 15 years and bought 4 of them since KK opened.
-
Why are some people still thinking it will not pass inspection again? I have to say if they kept B&RTC up and fixed that then KK has no problem with staying standing. Like I said before we just have to wait and see what happens it may be fixed sooner then we all think and I am 100% sure this is not the end of KK.
-
This may not be the end of Kingda Ka but could this be the end for intamin? Would Shapiro and Snyder bring them to court as it broke down once again....Time will tell us
-
Thats actually what I've been thinking all along. Intamins days may be the ones numbered here. Not Kingda Ka.
Hopefully they start ordering lots of parts.
-
i don't want to see KK torn down either. But based on what The Dynamic Duo have said, i wouldn't be surprised if they make that decision. Snyder himself said if it wasn't for Tatsu and KK, he would have the $$$ to implement all his changes.
-
Tearing down Ka wouldn't be worth it. If they could have stopped the building of them, that would be a different story. He wasn't referring to the upkeep of the rides, just the construction costs.
-
If, however, Kingda Ka continues to frustrate and disappoint guests on a fairly regular basis, why on earth would they keep it?
-
Good question. I wonder the same, and there probably is one other than enthusiast satisfaction and pride.
-
If, however, Kingda Ka continues to frustrate and disappoint guests on a fairly regular basis, why on earth would they keep it?
because no one has ever came off of that ride and said.. wow, this ride sucks, I'm never coming back to GADV.
Its the money maker right now. Things will happen. MF had its problems, you don't see CP dismantling it.
On the other hand.. if ET is successful, than i don't for see intamin making steel coasters as frequently anymore. I think they'll try their luck out with wood in the US instead. They need to figure out just what is happening to their monstrous rides.
-
Once other parks see the success of ET we may see other Intamin woodies in the US
-
im just glad they chose our park to put it in... :D
-
What about X? That had ridiculous problems and still closes every wednesday, you don't see them taking that down any time soon...
-
A little update...
Damage was minor
There was no damage to the coaster train or any area normally occupied by guests.
This incident has absolutely nothing at all to do with what happened last year.
No info yet on a possible opening but it doesn't sound like its all that bad.
-
That is great news Wade. Any word on what was damaged or what actually happened?
-
Well thats good news that is it minor so we may be on it sooned then we all thought. Is it the type of incident where it needs to be Re-Inspected?
-
Interesting how the train has no damage to it, but sparks were seen. The sparks must have came from the launch system.
It is great to hear that it is minor damage.
-
Lets see for KK opening
My bet is 2 weeks from THursday
the 25th
ET the 30th
But I'm a optimist
keep us up to date Wade
Well the park is open everyday starting tomorrow so we will see everyday.
-

It is great to hear that it is minor damage.
maybe the cell phone theory cannot be ruled out just yet afterall.
-
OH, I almost forgot, yes there were sparks... but seriously, is that all that surprising? Just watch free fall every night when it hits the brakes. Sparks! Sometimes that happens when friction occurs that fast. BUT, there was absolutely NO fire at all. And the braking system worked properly. Nobody was in any danger nor would they have been if anybody had actually been on that train. Had a rollback occured, it would have stopped as it always should.
Finally, kudos to the staff at Great Adventure for following proper procedures for the malfunction that resulted in these test runs. Something tells me this is what got Disneyland in trouble with Big Thunder Mountain over the last 2 years.
-
So wade do you think it will be open for the first weekend in june? ::)
-
well.. it certainly will not be open before that im sure, since everytime these things happen it has to go through retesting and whatnot. I think thats a pretty safe bet though, being the severity is apparently not all that bad.
-
Any idea why the cable is gone Wade?
The GAInsider guys say it's gone MIA.
-
^ It grew legs and walked off the job?
-
So wade do you think it will be open for the first weekend in june? ::)
Do I think ? yes :) Do I know, um, no.
-
Any idea why the cable is gone Wade?
The GAInsider guys say it's gone MIA.
While it probably didnt snap, it probably recieved some damage to it during the incident. Being sure that it wasnt a faulty wire, they will probably replace it. How hard is it to run wire?
-
It tookCedar Point18hrsto replacethe cableon TopThrill Dragster
Oh, the edit tag line now appears ....In that case, Please make sure you use a spell checker before you post.
-
I really don't think it's the cable though. Stew posted pics of the cable tight before.
-
The cable might have also simply been in the way of making the needed repairs.
-
I'm sure the damage was minor however braking on KK would never create sparks if it's occuring correctly unlike Freefall. Since KK using fixed magnetic braking there should never be friction between any moving parts other than the wheels and the track. The sparks could be either from a mis-aligned pull car or brake fin(s) which was contacting the train. The latter would rationally explain the sparks and minor damage. If it was merely a misaligned fin(s) then I'm sure there would be some damage to the brake track on the train (though it could be just a simple scuffing) and probably just that particular brake(s). Freefall however uses friction braking requiring physical contact between the train and a braking surface which often caused a nice light show at the end of the ride.. at least for the guests in line (was there ever really a line?).
And as Wade eluded to as long as the brakes rise after the train launches it will come to a nice happy stop if it happens to roll-back.
In any event let's all hope for a quick return to service!
-
^ It's nice to see you posting on such a delicate matter, thanks.
-
Here is a photos from gainsider.com
looks like the cable is back on KK I'm not sure when it was taken
http://www.gainsider.com/scripts/pictures/popup.php?albumID=364&imageID=2177
they also have some ET photos up
-
That picture was taken today(so their update said). I also saw them working on it as well from GASM. The one crane is holding the spool of cable over the track near the station.
-
Glad the damage isn't severe.
As to the Intamin problem ... I don't think they are going anywhere. Sure there have been problems with KK, but most of the other recent Rocket Coasters have been running with no issues.
I don't think they will be doing anything bigger than KK though.
-
^Except Stealth...
-
The era of Hydralic Launched strato coasters is done, nobody will waste money in those 400 ft. + rockets again, now the small rockets, they will keep being built, they are VERY reliable!
-
^Except Stealth...
and Speed Monster.
Overall there is no perfect acellerator. Each has had down time, some more than others.
-
I agree with Yanks. After the problems with KK, i don't see anyone getting one for their park.
-
well if my souces and SFinsider is correct, kk will open next week ;D
-
The record will be broken with new technology, my money is technology by S&S.....I just don't see KK open next week....
-
Compressed air is less complicated.
Did you ever see KK hydrulic room a lot of hoses to go bad etc.
-
A few gainsider's was in the park today 5-18
They are reporting seeing water dummies in KK seats and employess all other the place
http://www.gainsider.com
This is a great sign of some action
-
Well I am only guessing BUT water dummies in the train as seen in those photo's from GAINSIDER can to me only mean we might be getting closer to the testing phase 8). It has to be good right guys !!
-
I just wanted to say how nice it was that we didn't end up with 65 pages of speculation. Thanks everybody for keeping this thread clean and interesting.
It was my impression from day one that they didn't want Kingda Ka down during El Toros media day. This would have obviously been a unwanted distraction. Provided the repairs are good and it passes inspection, it should be re-opening REALLY soon.
-
^I think that has to do with the level of maturity on this site. It's remarkable really. I think we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and it's nice.
OT: El Toro is having a media day? I swear I read somewhere it isn't having one because of the new management.
-
Hey guys, I think one of them fell out!! Another one lost a head! :P ;D
-
Hey guys, I think one of them fell out!! Another one lost a head! :P ;D
LOL yes I love how even on line people who are waiting to ride tell me these things and they are still in line to ride. If it were true, wouldn't you NOT want to ride and NOT be in line taking up space??? And didn't they lose arms too ??
*another mod edit* - Please check for spelling, puncuation and grammar.
-
Some of the stories I've heard while waiting in line crack me up. You so badly want to correct them but you know its pointless lol
-
Oh Yes! I too love the stories overheard while waiting on line for Kingda Ka.
Maybe we should start a thread to share some of them...
I've heard the "Money Rain" and "Gold Chain" stories. Who knows some of them may have happened. ;)
-
Well if you have change in your poocket it might fly out which is funny to listen to clank on the track, But yea the stories on line are great.
This message has been posted from my Blackberry.
-
It is fun to watch an occasional park map fly out of the tophat :D.
To go back on topic, its good to hear that the dummies are on the train, can't wait for testing to start.
-

I have seen that with the map and yes it is quite funny to see it float down from up there . Do you think they do it on purpose dropping a map ? Anyway if there is any progress please post it as we can't go to the park for two more weekends and are looking forward to KK's return hopefully before 6/3 !!
-
At this point, I think it is more of a matter of any day now and no longer any week :)
Ka is nearly ready to begin testing :)
IMO - people purposely let articles fly off at the top. It seems all to conveinient to have them come loose at 458' instead of during the launch lol
-
^lol. 456 or 458?
OT: But why does everything else say 456 then in the station it says 458? KK is confused.
-
456' is the track. 458' is where the riders are, 2' above the track.
-
It's a marketing thing, if im not mistaken CP did the same thing
-
Wade, I'd think that too, but stuff didn't start flying out until the tophat during all those rides a year ago
-
Thinking about funny stories:
standing in Line today on Nitro, the girl in front of me decided to open her umbrella, i coudn't pass this up and told her it was bad luck to open an umbrella while in line for a coaster. she looked at me and asked why, whereupon i told her a slightly fictional account of the Lightning Loops accident. i told here that the victim, Karen, had opened her umbrella just before getting on LL for her last (and fatal) ride. I continued by saying Karens ghost haunts the area to this day and Park security occasionally spots her sitting on top of Nitro's lift hill. i finished by saying if she spots Karens ghost on top of the lift hill will sitting in the train, she'll suffer the same fate as karen. ;D
The reactions of all her friends after i told the "story" would have made a very funny pic, if i had my camera with me, which i did not. i love messing with peoples minds. 8)
-
OOOO that is just wrong to mess with people :) funny but wrong . Now this story is going to find it's way around somewhere again you all know this right, just like the KK stories . Speaking of KK do youthink they will test soon? I am still wondering if the dummies are there that maybe testing is going on at night . Do they have enough dummies for KK and ET or are they differant and will ET dummies lose their heads ,arms and legs like KK's did last year ;) LOL .
-
I actually got into an argument with this know it all senior in my school a couple weeks ago about KK. He was absolutely certainthat he saw a dummy go flying out on the tophat last year. When I told him that I knew he was 100000000000% wrong, he began to realize that I knew he was lying, and he will never admit that he is wrong, so he just said "Why should I listen to you, you're not even going to be top 10 in the class next year?" and he walked away.
-
Funny story Metsman. Some people don't know how to react when they know people realize that they are lieing.
Any word on testing from those at the park recenetly?
-
Some people always have to be right, and I hate those types of people!
^ I havent a clue on the testing! I would imagine it would have started, then again it probably didnt!
-
As our news fader has indicated for some time now, expect Kingda Ka to be open soon! And thanks to our friends at gainsider, we even have pictures of it testing.
Keep your fingers crossed that inspections go well today and tomorrow!
-
I knew I heard the horn on Sunday! On the way out I heard it, but no train was launched. Probably just the catch car was launched.
-
Catch car/launch system tests occurred on Saturday and Sunday so that was probably what you heard :)
-
As our news fader has indicated for some time now, expect Kingda Ka to be open soon! And thanks to our friends at gainsider, we even have pictures of it testing.

My fingers and my toes are crossed, I have yet to ride KA or TTD , so I need the credit. It would be very nice if they had Ka running for Coaster Celebration
Bruce....................
-
/\ I'd be in total complete shock if Ka wasn't open by June 17th. It will likely be open on Wednesday or Thursday this week so I'm more worried about it breaking again closer to CC :(
-
SHHHHH.....Don't say that!
-
i know i will be there on saturday or sunday
-
I might be there tomorrow. I'll see what I can find out while I'm there.
-
Secret Agent Wade.....Good luck, remember your mission is to find out whats wrong with KK and fix it!
-
LMAO now I'm going to be singing that stupid song in my head all day tomorrow
-
It was testing while I was at the park yesterday. Expect pictures to be up around 4pm.
-
Kingda Ka opens @ 10AM on Thursday, May 25th. :)
edit: I said I was going to close the thread but forgot, and since people seem to like talking about it opening, I'll leave it be for a little while lol
-
Where did you get that information???
Cuz thats awesome if its true!!!!!
-
Lets just say I was there lol
-
Yes that is what I also heard
-
yes i have heard the same thing when went after school ;D
-
I posted the same picture in my TR but since it is relevent here as well, this was taken today-
(http://gadvupdates.com/gallery/albums/WadeJ-5-24-06/P5240779.sized.jpg)
-
Very cool, it's glad to see they got KK testing! Wade, did you get this shot from the safari?
-
Yes, that was from the Safari ;) We decided to take a trip through since the weather was so nice... well, and to get that picture lol
I'm curious, is anybody going tomorrow that can let us know how Ka is riding? I'm curious if there is any difference in the launch.
-
This is awesome news. I can't wait to get back on it!
-
Great to hear! I wanna push 30+ rides this season. Stuck at 5 at the moment and 22 overall rides.
-
I'll be there from opening until about 3 pm Wade. I will let you know when I get back from work tomorrow night/Friday morning at about 2 am if I'm still alive!

/\ just heard from Rob (frissbeking) and it is in fact running. He got one ride on it. I'll let him post more on it when he returns ;)
-
I just got back, 1 ride, waited a little over an hour. They were running 2 trains, with intentions of opening the 3rd. After I got off, it looked as if they were getting ready to start up the 3rd train. The launch actually felt a tad more powerful than usual, but that might because I havent ridden it in a few weeks. Who knows ???
The park was kind of crowded, not too bad though. El Toro had workers all over the ride again, working on the lift and one of the hills in the twister section. PDC looks great so far though, I had some doubts that it wouldnt turn out that way.
As I was leaving the park, I wanted to snag a few Ka pictures since I have none of it actually running, but it never launched from 2-3. I'm guessing they tried puting the 3rd train on, and it made the ride shut down. That has happened to me while in line a few times this year already.
It's good to have it back though!
-
I got there around 6:15 PM and they were still only running two trains.
The park didn't seem too crowded at this time, but the wait was about 1.5 hours.
There was one 10-15 minute break when the mechanics walked the launch track, but other than that Ka was running fine.
It was also very nice to see an empty Rolling Thunder Train Zoom on by as I was standing on the Kinda Ka platform. ;D

I hope KK is open tomorrow on 6-6-06 because my brother is going to try it out for the 1st time. Big family trip tomorrow for me. BTW: I just got back on the internet finally. My computer hard drive went on my old computer , and now I'm back with my new machine. I got 6 years out of the other computer.
-
I was wondering where ya went !
You had to put Kingda Ka and that date in the same comment LOL And then mention how many years on the old PC lol
Ka has been fine for the most part lately. Typical Ka attitude but open more often than not.

Yes 6 years wow I do mine about every year or so.
I actually waited in line without it stopping last mid-week.
Granted the line was only 35 minute wait and I didn't wait for the front this time,
When I wait for the front it always has problems and breaks down. 2nd row is 2nd best
-
Its very glad to see that It seems to be running smooth!
-
Just wanted to give a heads up. Ka got struck by lightning a few times on Sunday night and it might be down for a bit.
-
Poor Ka, It never gets lucky :(
-
when do you think kingda ka will be up and running again? :-\
-
While I don't have an answer to that, I can say that I saw at least 3 test launches today by Schoolbus and Gak.
-
Thats great news!
-
kingda ka always seems to have problems though..
-
I heard it was running on and off yesterday.
-
Kingda Ka was barely running yesterday.
It would work a few times and then stop.
They were telling people a 3-4 hour wait upon line entry and the line wasn't long at all.
With Kingda Ka's issues and El Toro being down the park was a mess. Not a happy crowd.
-
/\ Couldn't agree more. This is the time of the year where they REALLY need to have things online.
Unfortunately, this time, and I really mean THIS time lol, it wasn't the parks fault. They can't control mother nature.
-
True enough. Though the OLD Six Flags always blamed the weather for every bad thing that ever happened. Thus, you can understand the skeptics.
-
Yesterday, Ka ran the best I've ever seen it run. Our wait was 1 and a half hours, but they were only running ONE side of the station. Also, that was with absolutely NO breakdowns! I was very impressed with how well it was running...

it was up and running yesterday but i don't know for how long. i saw it go in the morning though
-
This is all very good news... Thanks for keeping us updated ;)

I went over to Kingda Ka around 8pm and the line was closed. I saw it run throughout the night and saw a rollback.
