hahah love the topic, but there aren't any overbanks like Millennium Force has, just s-curve hills! Btw what is this outer winged seat business they are talking about?
-
Look at the train, the two seats in the middle have a floor and the outer seats are floorless.
-
Looks NICE
-
No sick overbanks. Lame.
-
Why only 3400'? Hershey always makes their rides short. Storm Runner 2600, Great Bear 2800... Farenheit under 3000.
Looks cool though... Can't hate a hyper!
-
any more details yet
MATT how can I get a park to build me my own coaster how do you do it :D
the Drop looks nice

Ride Specs
Mega/hyper coaster with winged seating
Maximum Height: 200 feet
Maximum Speed: 75 mph (+/-)
Four seats per car (two floored, two floorless)
50 degree ascent
85 degree descent
Four high-speed/high-banked curves
Five airtime hills
-
I'm still trying to figure that out myself, Tom. ;)
-
I guess this is the new era of hyper coasters. I just hope the lift hill isn't as fast as I305 because you loose so much of the acceleration feeling going down the first drop when you are already half the top speed!
-
idk if it is just the video, but from what I can see the harness is the usual OTSR minus the shoulder/straps part. That would be cool!
-
It would be cool, but it won't be that way.
-
You speed along the "bright yellow track".
Too expensive to render it in yellow?
Looks fun...I like the lift hill over the lake.
-
hahah Ken I was wondering why they didn't make the track yellow in the simulation...
-
I was part of the game thing, we did finish it, but it was challenging!

I think they are missing some supports too lol
-
I think they are missing some supports too lol
I love subtlety too, lol.
-
That looks like a very smooth ride. Can't wait for this ride to open, even if I get to Hershey once every few years :/
-
Check out the awesome looking drop so far

Can somebody say G-snap!?
-
LIKE!
-
if this picture is accurate, then Skyrush might be a close competitor to Millennium Force for me.
There are no "sick" overbanks though -__-
-
No "sick" overbanks? dislike!
This might be a great sleeper coaster
-
Sick Overbanks FTW!
-
Im only 75% i am getting on this in 2012. Hershey is probably the easiest family sell.
-
I'm 100% I'll be there next year. Plus I need the Fahrenheit credit and Wildcat with MF trains.
-
I only have MF credit.
-
100% for next year, Senior Trip ftw!
-
You don't want the Millennium Flyer trains Wildcat credit. Hold on to your memories of the awesome ride that once was!
-
so there is an overbank ;D
(http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/pc170730.jpg)
-
but would this be classified as a "sick" one? ;)
-
haha no because it is not like Millennium Force's =D
-
the sickest overbank is about 72 hrs away from residing north of the border.
-
Shoe is worried he will go to Hell if he ever admits Millennium Force is not all that. ;-)
-
No I actually believe Millennium Force is all that.
-
didnt they actually refer to the overbank on skyrush as a stengel dive like the one on goliath?
-
yo Millennium Farce you need to read up on your element descriptions and vernacular again. That is a Stengel Dive, the better overbank.
ALSO THE FIRST ONE IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE!!! **SQUEAL**
-
What about the thingies on Maverick?
I stopped caring about element terminology ten years ago.
-
Element names are pretty annoying. It would be good if every company called the elements the same thing. There is a decent chart on coaster database. But yes element names.. not for me.
-
B&M's cobra roll = Arrow's Batwing = Vekoma's Boomerang
B&M's Batwing = Arrow's Boomerang
B&M's flat spin = Arrow's Corkscrew
B&M's Dive Loop = Arrow's Sidewinder
B&M's Immelman = backward Dive Loop
-
B&M's Cobra roll is also = Vekoma's Butterfly
Gerstlauer's Corkscrews are looking pretty screwed up, too. But that Banana Roll looks awesome on Domineering!
-
^^ annoying post ;)
this is what I speak of with the elements.
-
Yes I know. I was just proving your point for you. ;)
-
When is this supposed to open?
-
April/May if I remember right.
-
If this spring weather holds up it will be open next week.
-
The only elements I am interested in are double ups, double downs, wooden 90 deg banks, helix's, triple ups, triple downs, and air time hills... In short elements are for steel coasters. Wood > Steel... that is all.
-
90 degree banks are boring unless the train hauls ass through them (two of the three 90s on Voyage sux0rs).
Big camel hill drops RULE!
-
ok now this is awesome
(http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/dsc03373__custom_.jpg)
Which way do you think the train will be traveling through this element?
floating airtime hill (no pun intended)

-
I can't wait for this ride to open. As long as i can find time to get out to Hershey im ok.
-
looks like this has the potential for some sick airtime.
-
this looks better than expected
-
This is starting to look really good.
Close to the ground and some existing trees.
I can't wait to see it when the water is back in there.
(Please not as much as there was in fall)
-
not a fan of the color
-
really? I think the color is neat.
-
I'm with Bubba... coloring looks to me that of an old faded Lego set.
-
They should have made it blue/white/black-ish to blend in with Comet, Looper and Bear?
-
I think the gold doesn't exactly match the sky part of the name. I think silver with dark blue supports would have been better.
-
this picture makes it look like a mega-lite

According to an interview in this news story there will in fact be just a lap bar for Skyrush!
http://www.wgal.com/video/30443949/detail.html (http://www.wgal.com/video/30443949/detail.html)
I305 + Rita = Skyrush
(http://www.screamscape.com/assets/images/db_images/db_2012_0215_SkyRush31.jpg)
-
Hopefully Intamin figured out how to design a good lap bar. :-/
Rita = lame
i305 = pretty great (now).
Rita with i305's speed might be awesome.
-
I love you Hershey Park for not going with stock design.
I still think the drop is a funky looking shape.

knowing intamin those outside seats will likely just break off.

CRACK!
-
Looks insane, too bad I didn't sign up for the ACE event on time.
-
Here is another great testing video with what looks like full speed on the lift. Unreal!

Sucks for Canada's Wonderland as I would not be surprised if this wins best new ride for 2012 over Leviathan. CW got gypped back in 2008 when they built Behemoth the same year as Ravine Flyer II which stole the best new ride award.
-
That's what happens when you waste all that money on an over engineered B&M ;)
-
hahaha
-
Hopefully Skyrush doesn't have maintainence issues like what most Intamins get plauged with their first season. I can get a Trip Report done in early June.
-
Looks insane, too bad I didn't sign up for the ACE event on time.
WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (that's what Chuck is doing, crying)
-
That's what happens when you waste all that money on an over engineered B&M ;)
They engineer out all the fun lately.
-
I don't think there is any shame in finishing second or third in best new ride category. RF2 is amazing and I only live 3 hrs away. We will have to see who wins this year but it wouldn't surprise me if levi doesn't. I guess it probably depends on which ride Alvey likes the best. ;)
The joy of B&M hypers at your home park is everytime you show up to your park they are running all three trains, lines moving fast, and never broken down. You can't say that about the more thrilling intamins. If skyrush wins thats great. Hershey is one of my favourite parks. I wonder if Verbolten is good enough to get in the running. I'm guessing not so much.
In related news Leviathan was running much faster on opening day. The ending was actually good this time. The tunnel is a blur. I think its more to keep people from hitting riders with rocks. It's a nice head chopper though.
If you guys are still coming this summer let me know. I can possibly get discount marineland tix but I need some notice. My sister knows a guy in the parks department.
-
We are looking at going for Haunt like we did last time.
-
After seeing that video of the lift, SkyRush is quite an appropriate name.
Hopefully they don't have to slow that down at all.
-
We are looking at going for Haunt like we did last time.
Then I guess I will have to attend my first CW haunt. Ouch and pay admission... Well worth it. Thats actually a decent call because the 10-5 portion of those days are really dead. I won't be around for the weekend on oct 13th fyi. Its my 5 year wedding anniversary and I'll be in Montreal. You could do marineland during the day on sat. Haunt sat night and then do a 10-5 wonderland on the sunday. Just an option. I think marinland closes the first weekend of oct. So if you wanted to do haunt and ML it would have to be that weekend.
Anyways back on topic. I am reallllly pumped about hershey this summer. Maybe it's because Hershey is the first place I went to as an "enthusiast" but I just love that place. The first time we went in 2008 we brought back our then 2 year old daughter a hershey sweater and she loved it. Obviously now its too small for her which made her really sad when she had to admit it didnt fit her. I can't wait to see her face when we show her and buy her the same one in a bigger size. It's the little things like that, that make places special. Also my wife makes the most insanely awesome cinnimon chip cookies and the chips can only be found in hershey pa, at chocolate world.
As for the ride.. It's flying under the radar for me a little bit but I fully expect it to be awesome. Rides are always better when their greatness sneaks up on you. When you expect alot you are almost always dissapointed. I think this is why I like Ravine flyer so much.
-
This footage is sick. It almost looks like they are fast-forwarding the video lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRMvheAJTFU#noexternalembed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRMvheAJTFU#noexternalembed)
-
I can't wait.
-
Neither can I. I still cannot get over how funky the trains look on an Intamin coaster.
-
When is opening day?
-
This looks really fun. I can not wait!
-
I guess the ride still needs some breaking in, the wheels are really squeaky going over the hills.
-
OMG this view is awesome! (http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/579322_3630763961246_1038519439_3314779_1897719601_n.jpg)
-
Very excited for this. Guess I may be heading out to Hershey soon.
-
Less than 3 weeks until my trip, June 11th.
-
VIPeter (now just Peter) and myself have a Hershey Park trip planned for Monday June 11th also.
-
Official POV video (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=3668999517465) from Hershey Park.
Looks like they have a winner!
-
Looks really nice. Hope it's not broken down when I visit. Hersheys Coaster line-up is so unique. That's one thing I really like about it.
-
Well it is an Intamin... ;)
Here's hoping each of those hills is powerful and this ride truly rocks hard. I really want this one to be great!

You're a very confusing individual. Doesn't el toro meet that criteria lol. ;)
-
:golfclap: Classic!!
The last hill on El Toro doesn't deliver every time.
So it doesn't fit the "every hill" category.
Hopefully SkyRush's restraints are a little more forgiving than El Toro.
-
El Toro has four fantastic hills... and four dead hills. I want eight fantastic hills. Hell, eight almost fantastic hills are better than the El Toro method.
-
looks incredible! The drop looks so steep in the POV
-
Next Monday I'll be there!
-
Hershey is such a nice park!
I'm not going to say much for those who have not ridden yet.
Back Right Wing is the seat!
The ejector air is much different than El Toro as it puts pressure on a different area of the leg.
Hope they don't change it but it does seem like an i305 modification could happen.
I was also amazed at how close you could get to the track for this ride. Shoe would have a field day with his camera!
That crazy mouse ride and Lightning Racer were the two surprises of the trip.
Wildcat train empty = good, Wildcat full train = horrible.
Storm Runner > Ka
Nice visit and who can complain about free sun screen and hand sanitizer!
-
hi i will be uploading some pictures tomorrow morning. Really, really, really powerful. just need to make the harnesses more forgiving and actaully keep me somewhere close to the seat. I literally have never been so far out of my seat on a ride like that and i rode in the second row left wing.

Can't believe you have never been before.
I really like the mouse there too. Best one i've been on.
Storm Runner > Ka is an understatement. Other than being short SR is epic.
What did you think of Comet? That was my pleasant surprise the first time. Didn't really enjoy it trip two.
-
Comet = Eh..Not so great.
SkyRush and Super Dooper Looper may have gotten all the love this off season.
Very small seats and we had a seat in the middle.
No seat choice due to how their Fast Track system works.
-
I wouldn't expect Ken to dig the Comet. I like it. It wants to be so good. Damn that pesky trim brake ruining all the airtime. A local friend of mine grew up going to Knoebels and Hershey. He assures me that prior to the trim brake being added, Comet gave Phoenix a run for its money.
-
I like any old woodie. comets a good time as long as your expectation are not too high.
-
I never noticed the trim, guess it's because I've only been riding it for the last 6 months. Don't get me wrong I like Comet for it's pops of air time, but imagining it as more intense is just shocking for me.
-
The trim is on the turnaround over the station. It skims off just enough speed to make the rest of the ride a zippy family coaster.
-
Comet at Hershey is alright but comet at the great escape is so much better.
-
Had a mixed day at Hershey. Full days at busy parks is always a challenge for a family.
Hershey was once one of my favourite parks. I wouldn't say its dropped a spot, but I deffinatly think less of it more and more. It seems to be loosing charm by the minute.
The good: I got 2 rides on LR, Storm Runner, and Sky Rush. My 3 fav rides there.
The Bad: Didn't get a ride on fareheit, and comet. There was a zoo visit followed by lunch, follows by rain, followed by a show which got cancelled for rain, followed by huge amounts of rain, followed by an hour wait for them to get trailblazer back running. For my 6 year old.
Quick ride reviews.. (on my 3rd vist)
Skyrush: rode it first ride of the day. There is alot I like about this ride but there is something I can't put my finger on it that keeps it from my favourites. It could be my favourite steel.
Wildcat: Best ride I've had but still just average
Wildmouse: Favourite mouse, and still is. great Ride.
Whip: after riding knoebels whit 30 times with my daughter hershey whip was like some kind of cruel joke. TERRIBLE!
Lightning Racer: I want to love this ride.. But I don't. I had one epic night ride in the back the first time I went to hershey. But none since. Don't get me wrong its fun, and has it's moments. But it's just not where it needs to be. Also I hate it when the same side wins every single time. This was the case when I went. Racing is a huge plus on this ride, and if you know whos winning it takes half the fun out.
Trail Blazer: it was trailblazer.
Storm Runner: Always a great time. Still one of my favourite rides.
Sooper Dooper Looper: Usually ride this firt thing, and think nothing of it. This time rode it at night, and it was awesome. Brought my 6 year old on it for her first ever looping coaster. She cried, but admitted after she thought the loop was cool.
Great Bear: The more I ride Great Bear.... The more I like great bear. I rode it in the back to save time. I always ride in the front. The back is really forcefull. Especially on the opening Helix.
Closed out the night with a front row skyrush.. WOW! amzing ride. Not exactly my cup of tea... but great to know there is a ride like that out there. It's almost as if they just up and built a no limits creation without going over the numbers. It's the first coaster I was affraid to put my hands up for.
Skyrush vs. Levi: I would say if I had the choice to randomly ride one of these two rides once I would pick skyrush. If I had the choice of which one I could have at my homepark I would pick Levi. They are completely different and great in there own way. They both have flaws. Overall I would say Skyrush is better but its slight.
Zoomerica: boooring!
Hersheys Fast pass: what a JOKE! they leave rows open on every train and dont attempt to fill them. Horrible on Storm Runner. They should make more effort to fill the empty rows. Then when people jump in it ticks people off that it screws up their riding partner lineups. Why do people NEED to ride with their friends? unless you are buying a picture who cares. Maybe thats just me.
Overall: Hershey is still a good park. I just didn't love it like I have in the past. Everyone in my family was saying how much they prefered Knoebels. Which shocked me.
