i just need to clarify.  The coaster is Viper at SFMM.  Right?  I guess it kind of creeps me the heck out that ive been on it.

^ Yeah.

How can a 2 lb camera stop a 3,000 lb train? and balance on a Vekoma track?

oh that kind of suprises me.  Most movies with roller coasters of course use SFMM's collection.

Usually, a Vekoma's wheels would clear anything thats on the track, being that they are spaced so poorly.

I kept reading on rec.roller-coaster that it is indeed Viper.  For some reason, I'm more inclined to go with that.  The clips that I see in the commercial tend to go with it.

On the website for FD3, they have an onride playing in the background, and I can in fact tell you that it IS NOT Viper.

It looks NOTHING like Viper, except for red track. I have no idea where Viper came from.

Seriously this isn't up for debate, it was shot here (http://www.rcdb.com/ig319.htm). Seriously.

I'll see it for free.  If you print out the ticket for Philly it's the Ritz Five on Walnut street.

I still see viper in it.  It looks like a mega looper from the preview.  Im not saying you guys are wrong or that they definetely filmed it in SFMM, im just saying it looks fairly similar from the 2 seconds of clips i saw.

I just checked it again, and parts of it are from Corkscrew and others are from either Viper or GASM or another coaster (or digitally altered to make coaster seem more exciting). How do I know? In the video it shows the coaster as having a vertical loop (which Corkscrew doesn't have) and appearing much larger than Corkscrew.

It is definately the Playland Corkscrew.

They do a lot of filming in Vancover these days, it is a lot cheaper up there to make these throw away movies.

BTW, been on that ride, it isn't too bad.

Cyclonic is correct. All of the footage showing the coaster from the outside was filmed at Playland. The actual onride footage is from a soundstage in Vancouver. They built part of a coaster inside the studio and surrounded it with a green screen.

Green?  I thought they used blue screens for that...

Green screen or blue screen is basically the same.  They use the color screen which appears least in the foregound...like if someone was wearing blue jeans, they wouldn't use a blue screen...

I also like how it was filmed in Gay, Michigan...is that really a real place?

Haha ya. It is on the little peninsula that shoots into Lake Superior, I found it on Google maps.

click on  Final Destination 3 Making Of Video  for the green screen effects.

plus this we already knew .

While in Vancouver Canada visiting the set of The Fog remake, Brad Miska from Bloody Disgusting and I were invited to stop by and visit the set of Final Destination 3, which happened to be filming on the same lot.
