That would be great for the people in the area if the park was bought by someone and opened up again.

That will not be happening.  The provisions of the sales (the land has been divided into smaller parcels for sale) will doubtless include restrictive covenants to prevent competition with the remaining waterpark and Cedar Point.  Much more likely is retail, commercial, or even residential use.
