I was thinking when Ka gets old they should start running it backwards if its possible or like 2 trains of the 4
I just seen the Video of SFMM that in 2011 they will be running Superman the escape backwards which should make it a pretty cool ride looking straight down
I'm not sure if they would even try because of the forces on the Launch Maybe a slight wipe-lash ? or people would complain about it
but it would be cool
what are your thoughts
-
Can they add maverick's barrel roll at the end of the launch?
All joking aside, I don't think it's that bad of an idea. I really wonder how the forces will affect the ride if it does become a prospect...
-
i think it would be bad because of the forces.... but thats just my thought
-
I actually think this could be done as far as forces. Your slowed down alot faster than the launch speeds you up and that is forces towards the restraints. Therefore the forces of a backwards launch would be acceptable.
-
I'm for it. Just I don't believe many people would take the "please keep your head against the harness during the duration of the ride." The i305 harnesses also make the ride much better in terms of comfort going forwards; with that said I do believe it does have some possibility and can become a good prospect by how supes:te works next year.

I don't know. something tells me my neck wouldn't enjoy that launch

ATSM standards would really be the determining factor. For 3.5 seconds of acceleration facing "Eyes Forward", the limit for an OTSR is 2 Gs. But, as we all know, Ka's OTSR is a glorified lapbar, and the ATSM limit for a "Base Case" restraint is 1.5 Gs. Most estimates for Ka's launch put in in the neighborhood of 1.5 Gs. It might just be too extreme for a backwards launch. I know I wouldn't particularly look forward to that...especially once you reach the extremely powerful pull-up into the tophat.
-
In New Jersey?
Yeah, right...
-
That alone may be a bigger reason than the ATSM standards for why it won't happen
-
Why is it that the state's sky-high insurance won't let us do anything unique? I mean, world's fastest coaster backwards sounds so much better than world's third fastest.
-
It's not just insurance...it's the legislative, regulatory and political environment as well...

They should turn that camelback hill into a zero-g roll.
