I don't know if these are as popular outside of college as they are in college, but Montclair got sent this alert from CUNY Fredonia and I had to re-distribute it.  They are very dangerous.

Thus why you use a glass or porcelain of some kind as a shade

When I was a kid, ALL plastic shaded pole lamps always seemed to have this problem...
