"Cedar Point has announced that it is expanding its new Celebration Plaza. As a part of that expansion, Cedar Point will be removing the WildCat roller coaster.
WildCat was coming to the end of its useful life. With the desired expansion to Celebration Plaza, coupled with the low ridership and increased maintenance costs, Cedar Point has decided to accelerate the removal of the ride. WildCat will be removed from the park prior to Opening Day and the materials will be sent to a recycling facility.
This expansion is one of several initiatives that will beautify the park midways and enhance guests’ experiences. Additional improvements include state-of-the-art lighting packages on Giant Wheel, Millennium Force and Power Tower, a new sound and lighting system along the park’s Main Midway and the re-painting of the Millennium Force and Blue Streak roller coasters.
Cedar Point remains committed to being the roller coaster capital of the world. New roller coasters, rides and attractions will always be a part of Cedar Point’s future."

Low ridership my foot. One of the best coasters in their overrated lineup.
Bullpoop.
-
Low ridership in comparison to what? MF? Raptor? Yeah, of course it's numbers will be low, I bet E12 and WT had less RPH than Wildcat. Shame, maybe someone will be able to buy it locally *cough* Dick Knoebel* Cough.
-
Is Knoebel's a recycling facility?
-
For good classic rides, yeah.
-
They had to staff a young lad just to manually stop the cars. I'm not surprised. Slightly dissapointed, but i'll get over this one fairly quick. The one thing that seems odd is if CP and SFMM are actually compeating for most coasters why not keep it around.
-
Wish they would've sent Wildcat to Dorney instead of the Stinger POS!
-
Sue, I wish the site had a like button like facebook lol
-
Wildcat's cool but its next stop is a recycling centre.
The sad thing is if you took a GP poll of which ride they would prefer Stringer would likely get about 99.9% of the vote.
Anyone making a special (last ride on wildcat) trip?
I will likely save my next point trip unil their next coaster is installed.
-
They aren't opening the cat for last rides. It's getting removed immediately.
-
outrageous! lol
-
In other news, check out the new lights on the ferris wheel. They look awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_oEbYOg3Y4#noexternalembed&feature=g-all-f (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_oEbYOg3Y4#noexternalembed&feature=g-all-f)

Very cool light package. Gives Morey's wheel a run for its money.
-
PS the wildcat had more airtime than millennium farce...
-
^who cares. It's not all about airtime.
-
Meh. It was a credit.
-
I actually liked the wildcat, tbh. It was a nice small coaster compared to everything else that's in Cedar Point and offered a nice change of pace that really made up for the fact that I spent almost 9 hours total waiting in line for the other rides.
-
Those "small" wild cats do more for me than Millennium Force. The freedom of movement and rapid acceleration of those individual cars is a blast. Modern "small" steel coasters just don't have as much fun factor as these old rides. I wish someone could resurrect these old Anton designs.

Rumor has it that it failed inspection and can't open so they decided to pull the plug.
-
I was thinking about wildcat today and It actually made me kinda sad. Im not surprised at all that it failed insepction though.
-
makes me wonder how come the Jack Rabbit fared in its final days. I've been looking into it for the reasons why, but every result just says "abandoned."
-
I guess I'm one of the few that never got it. I'm glad it ran as long as it did, especially at a "big" park.
-
Actully it was their second WildCat. The first one was moved to Valleyfair long ago and eventually replaced with an Arrow Mad Mouse. It was called Wild Rails at VF and yes, I rode it.
-
It's looking like DT and Space Spiral are next. Apparently DT is not getting recyled. I believe SS days were numbered when windseeker came on the scene. Especially with the wheel already there. Does anyone else think/hope the early wing rider specualtion is a smoke screen for something possibly more excitting?
-
I remember lance and co. confirming it would be a wing rider
-
Perhaps a rope-a-dope?
-
don't know, Cedar Point discussion boards are horrible to follow because literally no one knows anything until like the night before the park announces it.
I think a Wing Rider could be quite fitting since Six Flags already got one and theirs and its cousin have proven to be smash hits by their guests.
Maybe we should change the name of this to like "General Cedar Point thread" or something..,
