Post by: innervision on December 30, 2008, 10:49:30 AM
Starting talks of opening day on a cold windy day in December :) Who is going to be there? I know I always request off from work and make sure I'm there to see the park for the first time in months :)

Since I am finally off Saturdays I will be there. Chloe is pysched to take her 19 yr old cousin on Kingda Ka.  He mentioned on Christmas he has never rode it (got out of line last year).  So we showed him Chloe's extreme terror ride clip.  She promises to sit with him. lol

^ He must be pumped!

It is all he talks about . He had us draw a 48 inch line in his room for him so that he knows he makes it . He is so ready .

We are going but not sure what time we are actually going to get there and get into the park . We have to go to guest relations to get our passes and there is always a HUGE line there . We are stuck leaving SI at 10:30 or later because the little guy has CCD. We will be there though.

Never. Definitely never.

As long as Easter Sunday is never ever like what it was 2 years ago again (when it had to be 20 degrees tops) I'm good.

Its not known right now.

All though, the new name for Superman at SFNE is Bizarro.
Title: Re: Opening Day
Post by: WadeJ on March 31, 2009, 08:12:43 AM
I'm assuming you have a season pass voucher?  If you do then just use that as your gate ticket and then take it with you to the processing center. If you don't then buy it online before you go or buy it at the gate. Not entirely sure what you meant though. As for Medusa, I'd predict the same name as sfne imo.

Walking all over the park learning how to do our audits. After I get off, I plan to have a change of clothes in the car. I'll be keeping an eye on the boards via BlackBerry to see if I can say hi to anyone.

To all my fans, I  have just found out I have softball practice. Meaning I will be at the park a little later then I thought.  Please, don't let this ruin your day as I will be there as soon as I can.

My son and I will be coming up from Delaware for the weekend.  Sounds like weather should be a go!

Where's a decent place to stay close to the park?  Last year we stayed over in Thom's River and that seemed SO far away.

Hope all will be up and running for a great day!

The only thing that sucks about coming from another state is finding a hotel to stay at. I would suggest either Freehold gardens about 20 minutes away, or the new hotel right off of Exit 5 on 195.

Thanks Steve, I'll check them out.

I would sleep in my car to come for a weekend at GA!

(But it stinks that Medusa...oh I mean Bizzaro - won't be open till later.

The Hilton Garden Inn in Hamilton, NJ (The one at Exit 5 off of 195) is probably the best. Well, not sure about pricewise but it's a nice new hotel (flatscreen TV's in every room!) and there is more food across the street from it then you can ever imagine.

And more coming a lil south on 130. Gah...more traffic is going to be going through my neighborhood now.

I've visited people in hotels on Rt. 206  (Exit 7 NJT) and Rt. 541 (Exit 5 NJT) and both were really nice. The Days Inn on 206 had a flat screen and was located near Rt. 130 where there are plenty of places to eat. There is a Ramada and Best Western off of Exit 7 as well. The Hampton Inn at Exit 5 was also nice, and is located near other hotels and places to eat, including Cracker Barrel! Exit 7 is about a 1/2 hour away from the park and Exit 7 is about 15 minutes away.

Welcome to Outpost!  And here is a perfect example of why that on site hotel project needs to move forward :D.

Edit: I also did want to point out that while the weather looks decent (probably the best it's looked in years for opening day) but there are high winds in the forecast.  So keep in mind that Skyride, parachutes and of course, Kingda Ka may be down :(.  All indications are pointing to every ride being ready for opening day but they can't do anything about the wind.

I was watching that wind forcast too.  Thats one reason why we're staying over for Sunday - temps are forecasted warmer and winds less.

Counting down the hours...

Current forecast is partly cloudy with a high of 57.  Winds gusting 25-35mph.

Well I just got back from my opening day visit.

-Lets say that much wind does not help coasters at all. Even the indoor type.  ;)
-The carousel and big wheel look great!
-El Toro opened with one train running around 1:00PM.
-Workers were pleasant and very friendly
-Seeing Mr Six walking around the park is just a bit creepy.  But he does draw the crowd!

Now if they could only work on that weather control machine.

We had a great weekend.

Saturday's winds were a problem but we still got a couple of rides on El Toro, Rolling Thunder, Dark Knight and Skull Mountain in.

Sunday was fantastic.  We rode Kinga Ka 10 times including taking our first front seat ride - WOW!  A few more rides on El Toro, Scream Machine and Rolling Thunder.  Our first ride on Superman Ultimate Flight.

Even with Nitro down all weekend and a bunch of other glitches we had a wonderful Six Flags Weekend!

Probably will head back up after Bizarro opens to check that out (oh yeah - we got our Bizarro t-shirts already!)

Welcome to the boards Griff!  Since I see you're new, I'll let you know you don't have to double post if you forgot to say something.  If you are the last poster and you just posted, you can use the edit button in your last post to add in the forgotten tidbit.

I hope you have fun on the site!  We have a lot of members who make their way to the park often, so I'm sure you'll meet someone.  If you want to plan a meetup, the Meeting Plan (http://www.gadvoutpost.com/home.php/board,3.0.html) boards are a great place to post a topic and see who else might be going.  We also have a Mobile Meeting board (http://www.gadvoutpost.com/home.php/board,15.0.html), so if you have internet on your phone and you want to see who else might be in the park, feel free to check that.  I usually make a point to check it when I visit, and post in there.  Some others do the same.
