I have a slight problem with Un-inspired food, I think we have one of the best food diversities I've seen of all the parks I've visited and especially all the SF parks. We cater to almost every nationality that steps foot in the park, how is that Un-inspired? Only one coaster has been dormant and, we are not the only park to have ever been guilty of this. :shock: He can't fault us for KK without mentioning TTD and Intamin IMO. :roll:

I agree with Diana 100% I think we have definitely some of the most diverse food of all parks in general. And the KK reference cannot be talked about unless you say something about how much downtime TTD had when it first opened. I don't care what anyone says, I still love Great Adventure and will see it as one of the best parks out there.

I agreed with the article, but as said above, it was way too short. It was a nice little overview of the park and pin pointed some key ideas about Snyder's new regime (such as him toning down additions of new thrill rides).
I agree about food. Except for Nathan's, Wok and Roll, and Granny's, the park lacks any good food places.

I never ventured out too much with eating in the park, but the places I do eat I'm usually somewhat satisfied. The best food I've ever had at a SF park was definately SFNO. The food in New Orleans is incredible, and the park followed suit 100%. I had a seafood gumbo that was so good that I would have paid for seconds if I wasn't full. It was simply heavenly.

Yeah, NO is supposedly amazing with food. The best SF food I have had was at GADV...Nathan's. LOVE the cheese fries. But actual park food would go to SFNE and their pizza and chicken fingers. Very good food.

That is very true... but we must also look at it from a different perspective. The average Joe that walks into GADv on any given day doesn't want to hear that Intamin makes unreliable rides so it's understandable why he would say this, they just automatically assume that GADv is to blame, and wont listen to any other excuse. This journalist might very well be a part of the GP, so he might not have EVERY fact right. We can however, call this guy a bad journalist for not getting all of his facts right. :D
As far as food goes... I agree and disagree with what was said in the article... We do have a wide variety of food in the park, but to me, it all tastes like "cafeteria" food. There aren't any places in the park I really enjoy spending my money at to eat. I still have yet to try out the place behind the Nitro exit, and I always see the Meatball Hoagie, Chicken wings, ribs... I dont know why I always pass it, this year I will give it a whirl.

My comment about the food has nothing to do with how it tastes, it has to do with how many differant types of foods we have. We have Italian, Jamaican, Chinese, Mexican (I am sure this will improve with the new section) , burgers and fries, I am wondering if the La Cantina is going to rival BOTW which I hear has decent food. Me personally? I eat burgers and fries when I am at the park because I have good home cooked healthy foods all week LOL. To me they taste no differant then BK or McD's. Sorry Rob :lol:

I'm surprised to hear that about the food. All I hear are good things about Best of the west , La cantina , Outpost grill , Wild side pizza, Wok & Roll, Chippy's fish & chip, Funnel cakes, pretzels, Fried oreos, Nathan's, Butterfly fries, Central park deli , Mamma Flora's, Character cafe , Waffle cones, Granny's and the burger place in Movie town to name a few.
Maybe He went to a different Sfgadv ?

I think Gadv has better food than the majority of the Disney counter style places. And trust me, I think I've eaten at all of them ;)

Lake Compounce has some awesome food.
Just whatever you do, don't get food at SFA. Rob can back me up on this...

We didn't eat at GADV (we were crunched for time) but there were a few places that we wanted to eat. The food offerings were certainly MUCH better than what is found at SFMM.
As for best food though, I have to say SFOT would have to be the best in the Six Flags chain. At least IMO.

I agree. I ate at a few of the places at SFOT (that were open) when I was there 3 years ago and they were really good.
Apparantly, this dude didn't eat at Best Of The West though. They had awesome food and were open almost the entire season for the first time in a long time.

What about MAma Flora's and the HBO backlot? Great if you ask me. And Wildside is pretty awesome as well.
WE have some good food. The funnel cakes are up to par, we offer butterfly fries AND kettle korn, not too many parks have both of those.
Next year la cantina will be open and we will once again have mexican food as well.
There is no need to criticize the food here. Except for maybe the prices...

Well we always eat at grannys chicken the food is pretty good and with picky kids who will eat it that says it all for me. I think all parks have highs and lows with food and food prices are expensive in all parks feed a family of 5 in almost any park and try to do it for under $50.00 . It really isn't happening . But at grannys with the family feast for 25.00 that and some small extras we eat for almost under $40. Pretty good huh. I guess he didn't look around enough on the food side. As for the rides he has a point the lines are out of control on most days summer ,spring ,fall all are pretty packed . and many rides are not open all the time nor are they running full or all of the trains for all of the coasters. All parks need work and some are just in need of better management maybe with synder there will be a change only time will tell.

Butterfly fries are definitely at the top of my list. They are just so tasty and me and my friend usually split them and that makes them cheap. That and a smoothie in Boardwalk can make my day.

I was hooked on the pretzels over by Nitro all last year. One of those is = to a complete meal! mmmmmmmmm

GADV actually does have some really good food. I can live off of butteryfly fries, lemonade, and the Backlot pizza by Batman. That is the best pizza I have ever had at a theme park, and one of the best I have ever had period. I can live off of West Side food. :lol:

A great break from the park is grabbing one of those excellent burgers from Best of the West, and some other tasty treats that they have, and eating a nice, relaxing meal sitting right next to the Great Lake. That is beyond calming.
Outpost Grill didn't disapoint at all either. When they had us eat there for the shoot, I figured it would be standard amusement park food. I was really wrong on that one. It was actually delicious! That's one of my new favorites for food.

I can never go wrong with funnel cake but you can get those at like every park. I have to agree with RJ about Best of the West, and I also love the pizza from the backlot.

As for the food, my friends and I ALWAYS get Nathan's at the park. Their food is great, and is always nice and quick. A hot dog anf fries are always good, and are just enough to have at a park!

I am anxious to see how things might seem to this journalist if they were to visit later this coming season.
I also have a feeling that RT will be operating at peak capacity once again. Similar to how they made sure Scream Machine was cleaned up for Ka, it would make sense to do the same for RT with El Toro being right next door.

okay so.. one bad place for food.. and that opinion. I just dont see why he could badmouth our choices of food. I feel as though we cover alot of ground in that area.

We cover a lot of ground, but the quality isn't there in most places. We need 2-3 nice restaurants that people can sitdown and relax. A place on the Lakefront would be beautiful...

Well, I don't know how much room will be left once BBNP goes up. That would be nice to sit and look at the lake.. but we do have Best of the West which is rather relaxing.

Especially when you sit out on the deck overlooking the lake or even right next to the flume at sunset. Its such a nice setting in my opinion.

That is true. I think a place near where Time Warp used to be, even if it is small, would be a great addition.

I know that there is a section near the bandstand that was all rocks. That would make something nice but would possibly interrupt the flow of traffic.
I need an overhead view.

Prettiest place to eat is BOTW back porch, which actually is very peaceful, and you can feed the fish and turtles all the food you don't eat. We do have good variety already though, its just so expensive. Otherwise, just bring back the director chairs at HBO!

I think that our food variety is really good.
We have many restaurants with many choices of food for all ages. I know that my brother is a very picky eater and there is always something for him to eat. I think Great Adventure is doing great.

My favorite place to eat is the Wok & Roll chinese restaurant. That place has the best lo-mein I ever had. I eat there or best of the west every time I go to gadv.

^But its $10.99 for stinking Chicken and Brocoli. Why do they need to make it so much? I can go to shop rite and get the same thing for only $2.99.

However, I think we do have fairly good deals to be found at Gadv if you happen to like that particular item (like the pretzels are a steal IMO).
I totally agree with Nitro1118 though.... Great Adventure needs more sit down style places. Especially those that get you out of the sun.

I also think that the Pizza Fries are a steal too. The're only $3.95 or something, and you get a rather large portion, just covered with sauce and cheese. SOO good! :)

most of the deals are like.. spend 30 dollars, get a free hot dog.
or buy 9 drinks and get the 10th free. Like outrageous stuff that only benifits a large group. There is so many catches its rediculous.

^Are you talking about the coupons you get with the season passes? The only good ones are the BAF passes. Or the half off. The rest are just bogus.

Your best off getting your hand stamped, driving over to McDonalds or KFC and have a nice meal that you dont get ripped off for.
Not all chain parks are like that, for example, when I went to IOA the prices were VERY reasonable, Pay like $5 and get chicken and a few other things, not a bad deal huh?
The season pass coupons arent even worth it for the food, unless your REALLY hungry or have a large group as chilled said its not worth it at all!

yeah but you have to remember this too.. IOA gets you on your way in. they dont have to charge as much for food.
let alone.. GADV hires separate companies to come in for food and whatnot right? Its all up to them which prices they charge. unless im making that up

Or if you might not be able to go to Wawa anymore. The new rules that shapiro has is really going to make GADV a jail pretty much.

Shapiro better be careful with his moves to raise prices and keep people in the park. He may anger many people and lose alot of attendance. If he plans to do these things then I hope the park is perfectly run. By this I mean all rides are open and in proper working order , and all games & restaurants are open.

OK I suggest SF either get a buffet style place like CP or maybe a Friday's or Johnny Rockets. They are all in the park at Cp or right out side in the hotel. I also suggest that they get a restaurant with waiter service. A lot of destination parks have them and if and when the hotel comes people are going to want this service . When we travel we always go to a waiter service type of place either in the park or outside it and in the general area of SFGADV there is only the one Millstone place.

An Applebees would be an ideal restaurant I would put in the park. We need a sit down and not just fast food, if we have fast food theme the hell out of it. I just hope food prices become reasonable like IOA....Im not sure if i remember right but i think BGT had reasonable prices too

Where are you getting the pretzels that are a steal ?!?! LOL. I got one from the Boardwalk once or twice, and pay close to $10 for the pretzel, cheese and a soda...
I can get the same thing at WaWa for $3.99 LOL (I know park food is cheaper, I was only making a joke) :P

Seriously, at the prices GAd has charged for food, there really SHOULD be at least one NICE restaurant with table service. Six Flags Great Adventure is hardly alone with this deficit. There is also no such place at any of the Paramount Parks, to my knowledge.
