Title: What do you want for 2007?
Post by: KingdaKaRuler05 on November 25, 2005, 11:15:16 PM
Ok, so here's a topic for what YOU want to come in 2007!

I want a nice flat package, like SFOT is getting this year. The flats I currently want the most are a Giant Frisbee from Huss, and some classics, such as a scrambler and a Tilt a Whirl.

So...what do you want for 07? If anything?

the ECC crew will be the first to party in the new hotel rooms.. on opening day weekend!

It would be very nice to see a nice hotel go up.  Than i wouldnt have to worry about driving home with a coaster-hangover.

Flat packages would be very nice, as we are in serious need.

A drop tower perhaps?

and agreed with chuck, the harbor needs some attention.

It wouldnt hurt to throw a nice coaster in the mix somewhere.  I wont be too picky though :)

Actually they added to HH in 2001. But yes, they are dearly in need of something new... And hopefully not a Tornado!

I kind of want a Tornado. They look awsome!! Never got to ride the one in SFNE becouse the lines were way too long. :x

I think HH will be getting some attention soon :)

Personally, I'd just like to see EVERYTHING 100% rehabbed and operational by 2007.

IMO, that is what they were aiming for with the new hotel coming so I guess we'll soon find out.

Tornado slides are a whole lot of fun.  I would love to see some more slides, and something different, maybe a water coaster.  Any expansion over there would be welcome.

I keep saying, if I ran the park, capacity would be my goal.  A bunch of large flats would do it.

I would replace the parachute drop with an Intamin Giant Drop, like the one at PKD.  It is a very simple ride with a high capacity.  I would also make it the largest, just to make the marketing of it a little better.  That is what I would love to see in 2007.

Anything high capacity for our park is what we need. I too am 100% for a HH expansion or additions.

the drop could go towards the west.. the only big structure there is kingda ka.  I think its time people see the park up high from the west.

The chutes are one of the most classic things we have in the park.  I say instead of replacing it.. why not run it to its full capacity?  Think of the site.. every chute operational at the same time.  That would be something to see.

Ahh, Nick is on my side when it comes to removing classic Gadv rides. I think the parachute needs to stay! :) A drop ride would fit nicely Between the Log Flume and the concert arena.

I forget which thread it was in but somewhere before I had mentioning putting a massive drop ride in over by BOTW on the land that used to have the shooting gallery lol

Yes, I agree, the chutes need to stay.  I believe Gadv and SFOT are the only 2 remaining parks with these rides.  Its a high capacity ride that is tame enough for most people to ride to.  I'm afraid a new drop ride replacing it would again hurt the parks capacity just like all the other flats they have taken out that families could ride together.

Personally, I'd just like to see some simple rides come back.  A scrambler, tilt-a-whirl, baloon race, etc. are great and simple family flats.

perhaps the new bugs bunny themed section of the park will bring back some of these higher capacity family rides?

I agree with Wade.  I still miss Joust-A-Bout which in my eyes was a fun family ride.  Ironically today, I was thinking about our old Scrambler when we kept hearing that it would be relocated and the ride's parts were actually placed where Pirates Flight used to be, and then all of a sudden they disappeared never to be seen again.

I would like alot more flats at GADV. Everyone would. We just need some good rides that are somewhat new. There is alot of space to expand all over the park. I just want some nice flats....:(

For the most part, in 2007 I would just like to see the park have smooth operations with no staffing issues, no ride break downs and no rides being MIA all season (Batman Chiller).  After that, I hope they continue the pace with the improvements.  The place is looking better and better every day!  And finally, YES, they need to add some good ol' family flats back.  They are dearly missed.
Title: What do you want for 2007?
Post by: Nozzy on December 22, 2005, 11:59:58 PM
Like many others I'd like to see all parachutes working again, as well as both sides of Skyride!  Staffing good enough for three trains on the big coasters as well.  Get Batman the Chiller open and maybe get some theming back into Batman the Ride.  Rolling Thunder did race this year, but I can't remember ever seeing 4 trains on it, so try for that.  New trains on Runaway Train would rock, and it would be even cooler (but zero chance) of having it at 3 train operation.  Finally, better flats, but we know we're at least getting one next year, possibly more in BBNP.

Maybe an Intamin Gyro Drop. I believe the ring holds 60 people (correct me if I'm wrong) and would do wonders for capacity.

A flat would be nice too, like a 40 seat Screamin Swing or a Huss Giant Frisbee (maXair was incredible!!!).
Title: What do you want for 2007?
Post by: Nitro1118 on December 26, 2005, 12:14:17 AM
For 2007, I would like 1 more year of a really good park cleanup, and 2-3 flats. the first would be the much needed frop ride that we have desperately needed for the past few years. Another flat would be something along the intensity line of a Huss Giant Frisbee, or something of that nature. The last would be a family ride the whole family can enjoy.

An alternative to adding those flats would be adding a much needed dark ride. I actually think this is even more overdue than the drop tower, as GADV has NO dark rides whatsoever. Some ideas for the ride would be a ride similar to MIB-Alien Attack/Buzz Lightyear at MK, a ride similar to Spiderman/DarKastle, or finally a heavily themed coaster similar to ROTM at USF/Expedition Everest. The problem with the last idea is that it would be similar to Skull Mountain, so that would be my last choice. I don't think SF would spend the big bucks on a ride similar to Spiderman, so that is out. I think an interactive dark ride like MIB would be the best fit for GADV, as it is affordable, is for the whole family, and most people LOVE these types of rides.

With Snyder and Shapiro, I think our chances just went WAY up for a dark ride.

Hmm, the Sally interactive rides like GhostHunt at LC would be neat! I wouldn't mind a Spiderman style ride like Nitro118 suggested but, we have to wait and see how far and elaborate Our new chairmen are going to be.

A 4-D by B&M would be awsome but let me get my head out of the clouds and back down to earth.

What I would like for 2007 is for both sides of chiller to be operating, Kingda Ka to have its kinks worked out, Flat rides to replace Choas and the Cows, and finally a Season Pass Lane at the Parking Toll Booth if that is not happening already. I am not expecting a coaster, but I am very curious to see what the other parks around us do for that year, If im correct Dorney should be getting some sort of ride, hopefully not a flop like Hydra!

Yeah, I think that would be a last choice, the Spiderman style ride, as they are EXTREMELY expensive. I do not know how much DarKastle at BGW cost, but Spiderman cost well over 100 million (I believe it was an upwards of 200 million). And I'd much rather get something over DarKastle, as that ride wasn't made nearly as well as Spiderman, yet probably cost a pretty penny.

I think one of the Scooby Doo dark rides that a bunch of SF and Paramount Parks have gotten is a reasonable alternative to a Spiderman/Darkastle. They're not too expensive, are interactive, and are fun for everyone from little kids to adults.
Title: What do you want for 2007?
Post by: Nitro1118 on December 26, 2005, 03:59:38 PM
Yeah, I suggested that earlier, and said it was GADV's best option for a dark ride. I think if GADV dished out some nice bucks, they could add a truly great ride that could rival MIB: Alien Attack at USF.
Title: What do you want for 2007?
Post by: Cyclonic on December 26, 2005, 05:23:51 PM
I don't think they need something like that.  They are better off with a larger interactive ride that is not ulta expensive, but will still have good throughput.  I think the Scooy Doo type ride fit the bill, specitficly like the one at PKI, which has a muc larger capacity then the standard Sally rides because it has the conveyor style coaches that are always in motion.

But I would be happy with a few lrge flats, a Giant Drop (not a gyro drop, they are too high maintance), Giant Frisbee, Tople Tower.  Rides that have very good capacity and are very reliable.

Yeah, the Scooby Doo rides are the same concept as MIB: Alien Attack. Only difference is the amount of theming and possibly manufcturer (not sure about that one).

Family flats would be VERY nice as well as something new in HH . I didn't even go to the Harbor last year, they really need an update . A water coaster is cool, but we rode one this summer not too much of a thrill. Cool, but not too thrilling. The best thing is the new tornado slides, we loved it this summer and it is good on keeping the line moving.

Exactly what Great Adventure needs. People eaters. If Spongebob gets the axe for a ball coaster, capacity will be an issue. That line is always long which is great.

A dark ride would be great for us. I have loved every dark ride I've ever been on, and I'd be completely satisfied with any type of dark ride. Hershey's getting one this year, and even some along those lines (Sally dark ride) would be amazing.

With the new Six Flags management I would think they will add more capacity rides for the "general family"  visitor and overall improvements in customer services.
Also if the hotel pricing is anything like that at Cedar Point look for $200+  a night rooms.
Maybe they will have weekday deals for the hotel and park or a Season pass discount would be nice.
also dark ride would be nice

Themeing. Thats what makes a park great. When you have other stuff besides trees, its awesome. Look how good the GK came out looking. If only other places could look as good.
Title: What do you want for 2007?
Post by: WadeJ on December 29, 2005, 09:53:57 AM
Thats what always amazed me about IOA.  The park really doesn't have that many rides or attractions.  In fact, I was able to do every single one of them in one day.  Some multiple times.

However, we as guests percieve the place as being VERY nice and worth the insane costs to get in simply because of the theming.  Long lines?  Who cares when I can look at all this cool stuff and take neat pictures.

Theming (like it or not) really does transform a park into a completely different level.

How awesome would it be if our "Movie Town" was REALLY transformed into a true backlot similar to Disney MGM or Universal Studios?  Just walking through there would have a "wow" factor.

Thats why besides making everything work 100% again, I'm still all for the continuation of sprucing the place up :).

Post by: blazzinmatt on December 29, 2005, 10:24:39 AM
I agree with Wade 100% on this one. Theming in the park would totally change people's outviews on the park and I think it would raise attendance figures. In my opinion we are one of the top parks that people know by name. You say Islands of Adventure and people know exactly what you are talking about, and I think that when you say Great Adventure people know exactly what you are talking about as well, but they know or at least think that Islands of Adventure is a nicer park in terms of theming. A dark ride would be good to add to the parks ride list just because its something we dont have and its a great experience if themed properly. I think Earthquake at Universal Studios is an amazingly themed ride. Something like that would totally be awesome at Great Adventure. I'm hoping for a well themed ride for '07.

Themeing is the best way to go. Movie town doesnt really look like a movie town to me sadly. I also think the park should extend into the lots of property they have. Its starting to become a little too crowded with all the new rides and the paths not being wide enough. We have the land. We should use it. The park would look spectacular with a complete themeing job.

I think that they should replace Twister with a new generation Huss Top Spin with the back to back rows of seats, and water effects. The restraints are much more comfortable than the ones on ours because they don't have those genital squashers, and are the same ones on maXair.

i think they should bring back the BTR theming.. especially now that batman begins came out, and everyone got to see the decaying streets of gotham for the first time in a real sense.

I think we need a maurer shone earthquake designed drop tower.. also a great movietown themed ride.

I think that we in general need to do something with the lame movie town theme.

Nitro needs to have some kind of theme around it, since im ranting about theming right now.

congo rapids was just thrown back there, nothing jungle like about that one.

The west, well, it needs a face lift i believe.
Title: What do you want for 2007?

I think that with the new areas of the park will come themeing that we weren't expecting. I think that they will go ALL out with the themeing of the two new sections. It is going to be something totally not expected by the GP that visit Six Flags.

I also hope to see that their is themeing of the old rides like chilled said. Some of the rides really need themeing to make them more attractive to the general public, but I don't think themeing will make them choose one ride over the other, but it will make the park more attractive.

I would LOVE a new flat package of like 10. We could bring back old ones in storage and get some from other parks and then change all the air gater to magnetic gates like on Tallon at Dorney park. It'll make the dispatches a lot quicker instead of waitng.
Title: What do you want for 2007?
Post by: Nozzy on December 30, 2005, 10:56:41 AM
Oh yeah I forgot about the magnetic gates there, which I also thought would be nice at our park.  I doubt we'll see them change the gates though.  It might not actually make the times shorter either, as at Dorney when I went you needed the ops to check that each gate was closed, and so then the attendent needs to wait in the back of the station until they're locked.  There's also the problem of people not pushing them open.

FLATS!!!

The lack of flats due to Six Flags stealing them away from us over the past few years is really bad, there's hardly any thrilling flat rides left. Oh how I miss JJF, Pendulum, Time Warp, G-Force... :(

I'll back her up (since I was there LOL) that this was in fact a HUGE possibility and did in fact almost happen ;)

A vertical drop coaster would be a hit in the park considering many people of the GP have not seen something like this and would be so amazed and anxious to ride it. I think that would be a really good addition to the park, but also flats would be nice. We keep losing more flats year after year I am sure that we might get one next year. A drop tower would be optimal, but hey anything fun is good.

2007 Hotel Information
Comments (0) -- Posted by innervision at 10:04 PM
First information from the Jackson Planning Board meeting about the now approved plan for the 2007 hotel at Great Adventure. Construction will take approximately 24 months.

The hotel planned will be a 6 story 500 room, full-service hotel built specifically for Great Adventure guests with a dedicated 774 space parking lot directly in front of the hotel. The hotel will be located in the currently blocked off portion of the lot in front of Kingda Ka. To enter the lot there will be a left turnoff before the parking ticket booths for private access to the hotel. An exit from hotel parking will lead back into the main exit road.

It was mentioned that the loading dock will be 125ft from Kingda Ka, so that should be the approximate distance for the entire hotel.

The part of the lot currently with the construction fence around it will be a raised berm that will landscaped so that it would be difficult for pedestrians to cross over into the lot of the hotel.

When entering the conference room will be on the second floor, the main lobby and restaurants on the first. It was mentioned that the back of the hotel will be glass so you can see three coasters from inside the hotel. Also, they are doing everything possible to have basically every room have a window facing the park.

Access to the hotel will be limited to those staying at it. It will have 2 restaurants and retail space along with an arcade, conference room, and gift shop. The restaurant and shops will be limited to be used only by hotel guests. Regular citizens of the township will not be able to access the hotel to say, eat dinner at a restaurant. Neither will regular park guests.

The guests will have their own entrance and exit to the park that will only be used by hotel guests, while there was no mention of early entrance to the park it was said that there would be many packages available to those who wanted to stay at the hotel and visit all three of the parks.

The hotel will only be open seasonally with the park at this point in time, but they reserve the right to open it year round. They also reserve the right to extend the park season if it proves appropriate. The hotel may be used for other functions during the off-season to balance things out.

As for the type of hotel it will be styled after an Adirondack lodge and is styled after Disney hotels. It is meant to make you think it has been there for a very long time and will have weathered wood trim as well as a themed outdoor pool right next to Kingda Ka.
In fact the design team had done a walkthrough of Disney resorts with Six Flags executives.

The hotel will be owned and operated by Six Flags. It will be designed by the K10 Construction Group, who designed the Golden Kingdom.

There were small concerns that will be addressed later on, but the hotel is definitely a go. Many of the board members said that it was long overdue, it?s eloquent, beautiful design, and they wish the park the best. It was also mentioned that when the park was voted on to be built in 1973 there were 3 public members of the audience. Tonight, with a new phase in the park and a new point in Jackson Township?s life voted on, there were 5.

The pictures were a little difficult to see but from what we could see the hotel will look amazing. After what the crew did with the Golden Kingdom, we look forward to what they can do with the hotel.

Also of note is that there will be another hotel going up in Jackson township soon, but it was mentioned it will not be on the scale of this one.

ohhh i have my faith that they will do a good job with this hotel.

also.. that vert drop coaster was real i sware!

however a rumor you may all not be familiar with, is that before september 11th, it was said that we may get an impulse, since Sf was loking for a showcase ride for the end of the boardwalk, where SUF is now.

you know the rest.. thing happened.. we got SUF a few years later.

Ill be thankful if we get a few awesome new rides to fill in the holes.

As Nick said, I have heard rumors that the Impusle was really really close to happening and might still be a possibility today.  I think I have an idea of how far the park went into it, but I'm not certain so I will not say anything.

That sounds great. I can't wait to see the construction of the hotel, not the outside, but maybe we can get in the inside as they start to put stuff into it. It should be really awesome and I am sure that we will get a few good rides for 2007.

BTW that hotel idea sounds great. I think that because it is well themed and placed next to a record breaker will draw more people in. It should be quite amazing walking through it if it is the way I picture it to be.
