At this point, I'm too tired and frustrated to continue hacking away to get our entire portal back online after a failed upgrade attempt so for now, we'll have to make do with just having forums.
On a positive note, we are now on a official release of Simple Machines. We are no longer using a release canidate!
Also, In case anybody was wondering, I had to reset EVERYBODY back to the default forum theme because the Tiny Portal themes will not work without TP installed. They will all be available agian once we get TP back online.
Thanks for your understanding!
-
Oh yeah, aside from the obvious themes and such that are missing, please report any issues related to the actual forums in this thread.
Be expecting some occasional downtime in the next day or two as we try to finish up with the Tiny Portal upgrades :)
-
What are we to expect with this non-RC upgrade? :)
-
The forums you're currently using
-
The forums themselves are nearly the same - with a few additional admin features and most important, better security which should lesson the spam accounts.
The bigger improvements you will see are through the Tiny Portal upgrade which goes on top of SMF. In order to do the TP upgrade, we had to get our SMF version up to date which is what started this whole mess - upgrading SMF whacked Tiny Portal.
Hopefully we'll have things back to normal by tomorrow :)
For now, I'm just thankful the boards are still working and everything seems to be here!
-
I'm just waiting for Tiny Portal to get out of beta as well. Even in beta it's remarkably stable.
-
The latest Tiny Portal update is due out this Friday so were holding off until the weekend. Hopefully things will be back to normal after that :)
Thanks for your patience everybody!
-
^Do we really have a choice other then waiting? :P
-
Well, were almost done and by some miracle, it actually worked. There are a few odds and ends to fix but I wanted everybody to be aware of a few new features.
Up at the top right, you can change the color, width and font size by just click on the corresponding graphic.
Enjoy :)
-
I think everything is 100% back to normal again. Please report any problems here.
And be sure to checkout those new features up at the top right corner. You can change between 3 color combinations, increase the font size for those that have trouble reading the small text and also change the overall width of the site from full screen, small margins and large margins.
Enjoy!

I like so far. Dont really like this brown skin that we have going on but its all good. :D
-
I guess they are all types of brown but you change the color at the top right as wade pointed out in his last post.
-
Yes, all 3 color options are some sort of shade of tan/brown. (the choices are red, green and blue) One thing I did just find out is that the colors vary big time between brands and types of flat panels. For me, this looked great at work today on a few systems and now at home on a elcheapo flat panel, it almost looks peach. I guess it has to do with contrast ratios, etc.
Regardless, the biggest issue right now is that none of the themes we were using before are compatible with the version of SMF and TP we are on. It will probably only take them a week or so to convert everything over but for now, this is by far the best one I had to tinker with and honestly, is 10 times better than 90% of the theme choices we had before anyway. Eventually though, we'll be opening back up all the choices we can.
-
Thanks for all you do.
It's hard, I know. And we greatly appreciate it!
-
Did you guys use the upload manager or do it all by hand?
-
Im feelin' this new site, it looks alot better and is more eye-catching, good job
-
The repairing of articles wacked by the upgrade has begun. In Memory Of is fully working. Other sections of articles will be updated ASAP.

Only one problem.... you can choose your color at the top but I can only specify one logo file... looks good though ;)

So that logo is permanent? =(
-
Silver you need to make a logo with Great Adventure coasters
in it like El Toro KK Nitro etc.
-
/\ Well, he did include Batman The Ride and Superman ;)
I think the trick is that it needs to be a transparent GIF. However, Just for giggles, I'm going to toy around with placing a specific image in each color profile and using a JPG instead of a GIF.
I'll let ya know how that goes LOL
Thanks for the continued effort!

Oh ok, I was wondering what kind of file, I just assumed it was that color backround...
Would this work?
