Good thing we have the Xtreme play pass that gives us free parking.

East Coast feels you too brother.

And you thought re-entry was a problem, that's insane ! That will make me re think if I really want to go to a certain Six Flags.
-
15 dollars for parking is astronomical. Once again, this is a thing that's not goinna make people turn away, but it might keep them from coming back. To pay 15 dollars to park, about 60 to enter, and proabbly about 20 in food per person, its just another thing to rack up the cash.
-
And of course.. when you put all of these puzzle pieces together.. you have to come to the comclusion that the park will offer more in return for the money they ask you to pay
maybe it wont happen this year.. and i know we all enjoy instant gratification.. but we will get somehing in return.
-
Wow that is really high. I wonder if the price of the parking pass will go up as well for this season.
-
When at the end of the trip, people add up what they spent, the next year the answer may be:
I can take you kids to Disney for the same price as Great Adventure. Where you want to go?
And what do you think the answer will be? Especially if Dad or Mom plays golf, wants to spend the week at a resort hotel without worrying much about the kids, etc.
I worry that Six Flags is about to price itself out of the market.
And that doesn't even take into account that Six Flags doesn't just compete with other parks, it competes with other recreation for family dollars, from DVD rentals to skating to family entertainment centers to movie theaters.

I was thinking about this again at work and figured if people went to the park as a group (4) people it would only be 3.75 a person. I guess he figures people spend 20 -25 at football games so why not.
Now if I was going with my mom, and she had to shell out $15 dollars we wouldn't be coming back any time soon. I guess they want to sell a lot of season passes this year, because that's the only thing that makes sense to do.

Hope you don't mind me renaming the topic Gregg since it now applies to both parks.
Does anybody else think that Snyder wants us all to buy a season pass and SP parking tag?
-
No problem ... and it's more than 2 now ...

($15 weekends - $10 during the week)

It seems the park price is a better deal then the parking it's self. I'm going to find hotels close enough to where I can ride my bicycle thru the exit gates this year at all SFI. How many non season pass holders do you think come to the park 2,000 cars ?
-
What's more important for most of us is if they will finally make a separate season pass lane? I hate being stuck behind all the people not prepared and trying to argue their way in, but with a five dollar increase there's probably going to be even more arguments with the parking staff.

Ok talking as a parent with many friends who are not season pass holders . If I was one of them i would reconsider taking the trip to GADV this year and maybe do a Disney or a resort type place maybe even Hershey . the prices are crazy if you are a family of five with no coupons then lets see gate price is $60.00 for each of us that is times 4 and one junior at $30.00 then that is $270 just to walk in plus $15 to park and food . . I am sorry add $50.00 to fill the family mini-van and you have just out priced many ,many families for a one -day park with no resorts around it. At Hershey I can maybe pay as much but i get in the night before with a pre-view and then get the next day too and I stay in the area so when the day is done no 2 hour drive home . Works for me . Many people are going to be season pass holders out of the sheer cost of one day passes . Somewhere along the way this is either a make or break proposal this season lots of price increases BUT will the park see the improvement's for families as promised?? And will all the rides be up and running as the more money people spend to get into a park the more they will expect to have the rides up running and the lines moving . I for-see many ,many complaints to GR and or people just not coming back. WE will see . 4 months to go .

I don't necessarily agree with the increase b/c $15 is outrageous but it will be justified if we see positive upgrades. For $15 the park should have numerous and constant running trams; Not just a tram sign with people waiting for a tram that will never show up.

Pete I never even thought of that I can't even remember seeing trams that much last season were they even there?? We never used them with the stroller too much of a hastle to fold the stroller etc. Just eaiser to walk i guess that is what they are counting on huh.
-
I remember seeing the tram run a few times this summer. I was probably at the park about 10 times and saw it maybe 4 or 5 times. With such a large parking lot, it's suprising that they never had a solid tram system in recent years. The local waterpark near me (Splish Splash) has an amazing tram system and its only a waterpark. I'm sure many here share a similar sentiment but I always walk and probably would regardless of a more efficient tram system.

It definitely ran a few times, but not many. July 18th (http://amusementpics.com/Summer%2005%20Notes.htm) was the first day I had seen it running all season:

You sure that was a parking lot tram and not just a tram over to HH. With them redoing the parking lot and taking the tram lanes out, I had figured they did away with the actual parking lot trams altogether. I would like to see them, expecally with parking being $15. Even Knoebels runs trams on the busier days.

knoebels almost always runs trams in that main parking lot opposite to the campground.
I haven't seen a six flags tram in a long time. And since they took those lanes out, i doubt were going to see one anyways.
of course i'm glad they took the lanes out because it makes the parking lot easier to navigate..
heh, easier. :D

They should just run a perimeter sweep with the trains. That way its out of everybody's way towards the center of the parking lot and at the very end of the sweep, then stroll down the center aisle and pick up people. But its not like GADV has a super big parking lot that annoys me. I'm too busy looking at Superman and thinking about what coasters i'm going to hit up.
