Title: Astroland Opening
Post by: Cyclonic on March 27, 2007, 01:30:15 AM
So, who's going to Coney on Sunday?  Extended forecast is showing it to be pretty nice, and I for one and looking forward to my first fix of the season.

Looks like I'm headed south for KD so I can purchase my Maxx pass for the season. That way I'll be ready for Volcanomania and my trip to Carowinds!

Rich and I will probably be there as long as the weather looks good since I know they tend to close early if the weather isn't good.  Neither one of us likes the Cyclone, but we figure we might as well get there for Astroland's last season.  I'm more looking forward to one last ride on their insane Breakdance.  :-)

I've been going every year my whole life no matter the weather. It's a tradition in my family, being we're from Coney Island.

I'm going to Carowinds April 9th Tom, but Thanks for the heads up.  OK, new plans ! I  can't go to KD now being  that my daughter broke her arm and can't ride coasters  :(   Bummer.  She so wanted to ride IJ but now it looks like I'm going to Coney for the Aquarium and rides which won't cause any more damage to her arm.  I can't see myself sitting home while the Northeast  coaster season prepares to open.

I know what most of you look like so I'll give a shout out if I see you.  On the other hand, if you see a girl with a pink cast on just say Hello to us  ;D

Has anyone gone to the ACE opening day event in prior years?  I'm just wondering if the special wristband for Astroland is cash-only.  I've e-mailed Colleen to ask, but haven't heard back yet.

I go every year. And I believe it is cash only. But I get free wrostbands, so I really don't know. But, I'm pretty sure it's cash only.

No transportation :(
DUDE! You live in NYC! TAKE THE FLIPPIN TRAIN!

I think it is cash only, but they may have changed that.

I still didn't hear from Colleen, but I did check with a friend of mine who goes to Coney Island opening day every year.  He said it is cash only.  Also, you MUST be there between 10:45 and 11:15 to get the wristbands at that price.  He said in previous years you could get it at a booth between noon and 2, but that it's changed this year.

I think we're most likely going to skip it.  Since we were going to go by train, I don't like only having a 1/2 hour window to get the wristbands.  If we missed a train connection, we'd never make it.

Oh well, I guess Rolling Thunder will be our first ride of 2007 on Monday.  Yay RT!
