From Sceamscape today:
"2015 - New Coaster - Rumor - (9/20/13) I’ve heard this rumor on and off ever since Six Flags Great Adventure announced that Rolling Thunder would be removed, but it seems very likely that the park will be tapped to install a new wooden coaster for 2015. Chances are, this could be a similar creation to Goliath from RMC going into the Chicago area park, but I’m not sure if that is the right thing to do. Sure, a crazy RMC is going to get people’s attention as it will thrill you and send you through inversions, but with Rolling Thunder gone, what the park really needs is just a basic classic regular wooden roller coaster experience for the smaller thrill seekers to start with before they try to tackle El Toro. Something like GCI’s great Gold Striker installed at California’s Great America earlier this year would be perfect. "

Ehh. Grain of salt. My best guess would be that they might watch how the ride at SFGA is received? Either way, a mild RT like replacement is not on the horizon. Introducing a few more family flat rides is a possibility though.
-
I don't see Great Adventure building an RMC because it will directly compete with El Toro. I don't see why they would want to do that. I still think a Dive Machine would be cool, so much better than those stupid wing coasters.
-
My thoughts exactly. Big improvements are definitely coming though. I just don't believe it will be in the form of RMC
-
I have my money on a family-esque launch coaster. They already got pretty much everything covered on the checklist, just sans one family ride.
-
I want a wing rider here.
-
Wing riders are forceless and boring. I would rather get something else.
-
Maybe a boomerang or a dive machine?
-
Wood though the woods would rock but that's a pipe dream :).
-
Giga coaster.
-
Probably not gonna happen. I could think of a lot of coasters with a much better return on investment for the money as well. With us already having Nitro and Kingda Ka a giga coaster wouldn't be the choice.
I think they should put something in the Chillers station. Maybe an lsm launched coaster from one of the many companies making those now. It could be complete circuit and have the brake run run through the other side of chillers station. Or that could be a second launch of some sort that flies through the station which would be a really cool effect.
-
If it reopens that area back there again I don't care what it does. Another Enterprise would be a nice addition back into the park's flat ride lineup.
-
Wouldnt it suck if they gave us an unthemed Wild Mouse
-
we need a "like" button for the message board posts.
I dont see another Woodie like at SFGA either to similar with Toro
parks needs something unique and we all know it will be a "record breaker" as they always do with the park being the biggest in the chain
I always thought el toro would have been longer and more like the voyage before they announced it
I still think its to short of a ride
time will tell
-
A multidimensional would be awesome
-
Racing wooden coaster.
But they'll get a Giga.
-
I don't think any wood in awhile,,
I'll take a giga, but has to be better than millennium ;)
-
I will be better.
-
What about a zacspin? They're cheap and good
-
Maybe a motorbike or jet ski?
-
Nah. Zac Spins are fun, but low capacity and won't bring in the crowds like a 300 foot tall Intamin giga coaster with a 85 degree first drop and 6,000 feet of track. ;-)
-
Or an Giga-Flying-Turns to appease both the Matts..
-
Or a giga that has FLYERS cars attached to the train O0
-
I had a dream about a coaster with cable/chain hung seats once. Badass. :)
-
"Instead of Adding a new coaster, We're giving Nitro a cable lift!" Wouldnt that suck?
-
Nitro isn't getting a cable lift. ;)
-
It's going to get a speaker system and flames.
-
/\ LOL Don't give them any ideas! I have to imagine that Nitro is soon on the list for a full refurb though. It needs a full go-over.
I won't say much about 2015 other than I'm fairly confident a significant coaster is coming. What type is anybody's guess but I think the location is what might surprise people the most. If rumors are true, it would seem there are a LOT of changes coming to the property in the next 5-10 years.
-
Can you pweese tell us wade?
-
"Instead of Adding a new coaster, We're giving Nitro a cable lift!" Wouldnt that suck?
I don't really see any benifit to adding one to Nitro anyway. Plus the prelift section would make it difficult to engage a cable lift anyway. El Toro is actually the only cable lift thats not immediately out of the station.
-
An El Loco would be cool.
-
I can assure you they aren't modifying Nitro :). Yes, we need more capacity but I think that is coming more 2015-16 than 2014. Look for drop ride and a few other odds and ends for the park next year but nice things are coming...... Says the guy who is typing this from Hershey Park :D

The 2015 Rumor Mill Continues on Screamscape
2015 - New Coaster - Rumor - (5/30/14) The early buzz for Six Flags Great Adventure is that the park may tap Rocky Mountain Construction to build another custom crazy creation like Goliath that will soon open at SF Great America, but bigger and meaner. The only clue as to the location is that our sources says that they would like for it to try and dive underground, traveling under 'the lake' at some point. If this is true, then look for this new coaster to go in the back of the park, perhaps near the old water-ski stands, or possibly over where the log ride sits. This also makes sense as the backside of the park could use a new major attraction, as almost every other new addition for the last several years has been placed either up front near the entrance (Superman, Green Lantern, Sky Screamer) or in the nearby north-east corner where we can now find Kingda Ka, Zumanjaro and El Toro. Off the top of my head the only new addition in the last decade to go elsewhere would be The Dark Knight indoor mouse coaster on the dead western side of the park where The Chiller used to be.
I can't see anything ever going under the lake...unless you somehow consider Congo Rapids to be a lake.
Supposed to be another bad winter..they better get started now if they want it completed by late spring 2015.
-
Oh snap!
-
Rofl Lance is biting bad bait so much lately. There's no way Great Adventure ever will get permission to build a tunnel near Switlik or Prospertown lakes, it's protected land by the state now you can't build on it, let alone UNDER it.
-
See our old friend Railer's post on GADVHistory about the first riders on Ka....Interesting.
-
Total BS.
-
Link?

See our old friend Railer's post on GADVHistory about the first riders on Ka....Interesting.
Regarding Ka or the opening of Jumanji? Because I'd be shocked if the drop ride opened this coming weekend.
-
He mentioned 3 RMC employees grabbing first rides on Ka before it opened to the public.
I'd still rather see the giga.
I'd be surprised if they opened Jumanji this weekend also...They were running the cars through very slowly on Sunday.
No actual drops...and no Ka either.
-
Ka is weekends only until Zumanji opens, even employees are in the dark on the opening date. Although we've heard Saturday a lot, we've never seen actual drop testing done. Probably the most interesting stuff for us this week was being able to ride Congo Rapids so the crew could have their training cycles done, I got soaked!
-
Thanks for the update b-mac. That being said, I don't believe anybody is being kept in the dark.... They simply have no idea!!
-
Full height drop tests happened a few days ago, still no news on opening but I'm hopeful for this Saturday.
-
Unfortunately, I suspect that is wishful thinking :( . Haven't seen the site in person but it still looks to me like they have a long way to go. And that's just talking the physical work yet alone the state inspections, required cycles, height requirements and other guidelines that are needed and to the best of my knowledge, aren't done yet. We shall see. I hope I'm wrong :).
-
What once people said I was crazy for recommending, is now actually happening with Zumanjaro ... Well done
However, did we build Millennium Force 2.0? If not then its back to hiatus
-
Dubya!!!
-
Well, look what the cat dragged in... ;D
-
Whose Ric Flair???
-
My money is leaning away from a coaster for 2015, seems to me the entertainment department is finally going to get some much needed love for next year.
-
The only way I would accept no coaster next year is if they took that money and powerwashed, painted, landscaped and refurbed the entire park. I walked in there earlier this month after having just been at Florida parks for the past three years and it looks dirty.
Heck, I went to SeaWorld earlier this week and I noticed immediately that there were small touches done, including repainting the bathroom. Nothing big but it made a difference and things looked better.
-
We're cleaning the ride areas head to toe on July 1st due to investors visiting from Dubai. Trying to get that on my schedule since cleaning down a coaster and getting to go into the danger zone is bloody, freaking, awesome. If only I was allowed to take pictures :(
-
Maybe they should have "investors" visit more often.
-
Should see some action Sunday afternoon :)
-
No amount of cleaning is going to make up for the mess that place is in but I'm glad to hear they are at least cleaning it. I'd be totally shocked if a coaster wasn't on the way for 2015.
-
So seeing Ka and Jaro run at the same time is way less cool than I thought it'd be. Guests will still love it when it happens though.
-
Here's a Video of Ka and Zum running together click on 1080p
