Freefall gone, Riptide soon to be gone, Koala Canyon gone, Spinmiester finally gone...
Do you see the swings are also going through another rehab?
-
Phil does a great Job
Last year he kept us updated with the great fly overs of El Toro
SO lets hope he doe another fly over in a month or so.
Keep up the good work Phil
-
He does this on his own at his own cost and at the cost of Fuel I'm sure its not cheap to go up.
see his website and the other links below of the flights he took almost monthly as weather permitted
without his updates last year we would have never knew the OVERALL progress AND LAYOUT.
Those updates from the tours mostly took place before Christmas and late last fall (correct me if I'm wrong).
View his site below for other parks and landmarks he also just added Hershey Park.
www.flyinphilsphotos.com
And yes we also can thank Wade and Diana and the PR dept. for some really fun times this year :D OLE OLE!
-
Both were great.
We're SO lucky to have both. Most parks only have construction tours, this we have a chance to get a shot at the park in times like this to see what's going on.
-
Yes also with the Warm weather and not much rain/snow they should be ahead or on schedule which is always good :)
-
The El Toro sunshades were in place the last weekend of the 2006 season.
I suppose they didn't have time to install them until then. ;)
And yes they were much needed.
The last photo in Phil's latest set was awesome...
And it also looks like they saved the Kangaroo from Koala Canyon.
Anyone see where it is?? You can see it in one of Phil's pictures.
-
Just because we got to be closer to El Toro when doing our tours does NOT decrease the quality of Phil's work. We were able to get park-sponsored tours every now and then to take pictures and follow the process, while he was able to fly over and get a complete overview of the progress (and here's the important part) at times we couldn't. I'm not sure if there's anything one could really find bad about his updates in that regard. You can't even call it inferior, seeing that aerial updates and tours are two completely different things. I just don't see what you're getting at here, unless it's just blindly insulting him for the sheer pleasure of it. I hope that's not the case because that is definitely frowned upon.
-
Thanks very much RJ, PCMAN and everyone else who enjoys my fly-overs. I realize it's a TEAM effort to bring updates and I'll continue to do my part ;D
So far, I'm shooting for 12/27 (this coming Wednesday) for my next park fly-over....I'll keep you posted, though ;)
I hope everyone has/had a Merry Christmas !!!
-
Nice job with the updates Phil! We appreciate them alot!
-
Thanks for taking the photos, Phil! My husband's father used to fly us over various parks a few years back, but he's had some health problems and hasn't been able to fly lately. It was a lot of fun and I miss it!
Sue

Phil takes GREAT photos! I, and many others, really appreciate them!

All I have to say is sigh...
Nice photos Phil!
-
Bye Chiller Zero-G rolls!
I can honestly say, backwards through was the only inversion to completely disorient me.
-
Well, hopefully that "Chilled" everybody out at Source.
-
OMG !!11!!!11!11 and I thought they were just going to paint it again, what happened? Lol
edit. I just noticed two things that would be cool to own.
The Free Fall seats and the 12ft lion from the safari entrance sleeping on that trailer.
-
Also, Robin's train are sitting right near Free Falls seats.
-
Does anyone know what they are doing to Chiller?
-
Peter...For all kinds of speculation and mayhem go read the Chiller thread at the Great Adventure Source.
That should keep you busy for quite some time.. ;)
-
Or, I'll save you the trouble LOL Its been "rumored" that a reprofiling would occur this off-season on the heartline roll.
-
Does anyone think they will replace the heartline roll with another heartline or will it be a straight away ? And will this mean less down time ? I wonder if it has to do with the valleying that happened this past season? Not enough power ?
-
Thanks guys.

As always Phil these pics and Fly overs are great and much appreciated especially during the off season.
Keep up the great work :D
-
Nice shots phil. So with supports missing on chiller what does everyone think will go there ? Just a bunny hill ? As for wiggles world I wonder if we will start seeing foundations soon. It is already Feburary and isn't it suppose to open with the park in April? When I seen a commerical a few days ago they were really pushing WW. I am not so excited I think if my son liked them it would be different I think we would be excited about Thomas . And if anyone has any ideas on where he will be please share.
-
Or, I'll save you the trouble LOL Its been "rumored" that a reprofiling would occur this off-season on the heartline roll.
I heard theyd have the trains jump the track haha, Nice Nice pics Phil, looks like the Outpost is being constructed...
-
The heartline roll will be a small "hump" ;)
-
I wonder how that is going to change the ride.Maybe it will make it more comfortable to ride . Less head banging going on .
-
As long as it keeps both sides open.
it will be like a new ride at least for the first ride
-
The headbanging was taken care of with the restraint switch. I just can't wait to experience the hump backwards. That'll be freaky
-
Yes, yes, Robin is red,
Batman is blue,
but sadly so,
only one side on opening day may be ready for you!
The new humps shall be nice and "curly"
Yet lets just be glad the ride shall stay
If you ask me the way things are.... neither side will be ready ready until early....
-
Glad to see a poet is back!!
:)

Boo....
How does he know that Movietown was demolished?
-
:'(
-
Is that a new structure being built next to chiller??
Where the lift hill for MTWE uset to exist is a new structure.
Or at tleast it looks new.
Compare two of Phil's great pictures:
NOW - Photo #10 (http://www.flyinphilsphotos.com/amuse/nj/sfga/2007-11-25/album0)
2006 - Photo #2 (http://www.flyinphilsphotos.com/coasters/sfga/chiller/album0.html)
It doesn't look like any part of Chiller(Not much left there anyhow)
Some kind of stair structure.
???
-
Looks like it was part of the stairs under the red track so they can evacuate the train if it valleys.
they moved out the stairs
Looks like half the stairs.
see pic # 11
www.flyinphilsphotos.com/amuse/nj/sfga/2007-02-11/album0
and pic # 7 below you can see it better

pic # 12 below
www.flyinphilsphotos.com/amuse/nj/sfga/2007-01-07/album0
-
That is exactly what it is, the stairs to get people off Robin.
Strange that they would move it all the way over there and not take it apart in place.
But what do I know about taking a coaster down.
-
here is a pic
(http://www.techhi.net/images/COASTER/Gradv/chiller-steps.jpg)
-
How sad :( . Well I do hope that the MTWE wasn't demolished and just removed . We will have to wait and see.
-
If you believe that it wasn't demolished then I don't know how to break it to you, but the ride was gutted and heading to the junk yard.
-
MTWE is officially good as gone :( I think what Chuck was trying to say was that the picture shows a clearing from MTWE but in no way indicates how the ride was taken out. However, the chances of it now being relocated are 100% zero.
-
How sad :( MTWE was a great get wet quick ride .
-
MTWE was outdated. Please Six Flags, make this the first step in replacing it. Bring us something fitting of a theme park on the level of Escape From Pompeii.
-
Outdated but still very fun!
I really hope some sort of HH expansion is coming, We lost Riptide first and now MWTe, lack of relief on a HOT summer day...??

Uh, wrong link. The correct one would be:

-
I'm just baffled at why Cedar Fair chose that color scheme...
-
Why? It shows their typical levels of brilliance and imagination. These are the same people who came up with such names as Flight Deck, Drop Tower, The Crypt and Backlot Stunt Coaster. Yes, they did come up with Beaver Land Mine Ride, but we know how that ended.
-
I like the colors to be honest, there somewhat loud but yet creative
...And just like that Voodoo is half built :)
-
nice. I am surprised that they didn't make it a dark purple/red/black color scheme or something more dark and evil.
-

Same thought here. They completely did not follow any of the colors listed in the logo really. Besides the yellow.

Great work Phil

from these shots you can see there is a lot of open space behind the new building and CHillers building is kind of far from the new build ?
also here is a look back at the park in 1994 \/
www.flyinphilsphotos.com/amuse/nj/sfga/1994-08-24/album0
-
Is it me, or would it make more sense to build the coaster first, then put the building around it up??
-
I was thinking the same thing a few days ago when i seen the updated pics on the Six flags site.
I think they want to "keep it hidden" with the Movie and theming.
that's why Angle didn't bring in any drawings or theming diagrams to Eastcoaster like they had at No-Coaster 2 weeks before she told me because the Movie Company and licensing wanted to keep it on the down low
these are the pics she wanted to show. \/

-
if that building is going to house the entire attraction, then there is going to be A LOT of empty space. Wasnt the Chiller's station going to be used for something?
-
^ I'm going with the Hall of Justice maybe? I also think it's easier to frame the building without the coaster getting in the way. Just think if a cable snapped and an I beam fell on the track? Plus...it will be warmer inside once the coaster can go up.

wow, great shots phil!
Fahrenheit looks to be coming along nicely
-
Wonder where they're going to have the queue for Farenheit? Doesn't look to be much room!
-
Wow, I wish I could get on Farenheit this year. That Norwegian Loop thing looks awesome!
-
Sue,
I was wondering the same thing. It'll be tight but then again I didn't think they'd fit in a queue for Storm Runner either. I was suprised to see that the station building covers a portion of the midway.
Pete
-
The first year of Storm Runner they had to use temporary rope queues because it was always overflowing. Since that year, they've added a bunch more queues. Hopefully they've learned from that!
-
Two ACE events (park events) at these parks in May and June with ERT on both.
-
I didn't know the full current queue wasn't there from the beginning. If thats the case I hope they have some more space alotted for the queue.
Pete

Enjoy ;)
-
As always great pics
When I was driving back from Knoebels Saturday night
from the northeast extension turnpike you can see the 2 spikes lite up on Voodoo.
It looked cool from that distance.
-
Awesome pictures! Great Adventure looked completely empty. I am mad I didn't go Sunday =(
-
Thank you Phil. Movie Town could look allot better in the future.
-
Is it me, or does Laser at Dorney look like it's missing track pieces? It looks like the track is missing on the right turn after the brakes and the right turn into the station.
-
It's not just you.
