Title: What's In Your Camera Bag?
Post by: Cyclonic on May 13, 2006, 03:27:19 PM
Well, I don't use a camera bag (probably should), but I was wondering what everyone is using for their photos.

A few weeks ago I picked up a new camera, a Nikon Coolpix P4.  It is a nice 8MP point and shoot.  This is my third Nikon, they have great lenses and you seem to get the most bang for your buck out of them.

I am fairly happy with it, the picture, once I get them on my computer, look fantastic, and they are big, I can do a lot of cropping and still keep a nice resolution.  I don't like the screen on the camera, it seems a bit grainy, and I never really can tell what I have taken.

I had thought about going with an SLR, as I would love to have the versitility, but they are just too big for the park, I like having a camera that I can just stick in my pocket.

So, what is everyone else using, and how do you like it?

I own a Samsung Digimax 430 4MP camera. Its a nice camera. I wish it could be a little faster and putting the images on the card and didnt take so long to capture an image. But for still images, its a real nice camera. However, I do have some problems with blurrs from shakiness and moving objects. So thats what I am carrying.

Olympus Stylus 600  6MP

Best screen ever :)  The screen on this thing is amazing.  They even managed to have it auto-adjust when you are in different lighting so you can still see what you are pointing at.

I have a Samsung Digimax A7 7MP camera.  For those of you who saw my photo updates on CoasterSims for El Toro, I used that camera for all of those shoots.  It's small enough that I can stick it in my pocket and carry it around anywhere without feeling burdened, but big enough that you know it's there.  The battery life with the supplied batteries is great.  I've started playing with the manual mode on the camera, but I haven't really taken any "cool" shots with it yet.  Maybe next time I'm in Gadv i'll try to get some motion shots.  I really like the blur effect with photos, so I'm dying to get some for myself.  I like the optical zoom on it a lot (3x), and the digital zoom isn't too bad either(5x).    The screen on the camera is pretty good, and it really comes in handy since you can trim images right there on the camera.  My girlfriend is in love with that feature, lol.  I'd recomend this camera to anyone.

That top one proves it isn't all about the MP Stew ;)  5MP is still plenty for decent pics if you have a good lense.

You do the same thing I do and have a "older" camera to go anywhere with.  I have a Fuji Finepix 4MP that isn't really that bad but I dont' mind if it gets bumped around, dropped, wet, etc.

I just feel my camera lacks the image vs. scene kinds of pictures. I want one to make a picture as if it were to be published in a magazine. But thats probably a whole nother type of camera. What do you guys think of my pics?

Whats the best way to clean a camera lense without going out and buying the special sheets for it? Will a q-tip with some kind of solution work?

My girlfriend has this camera and she loves it. I was going to get the SD550, but I was short money at the time when I needed a new digital camera. My pictures rival hers except for the MP, but I am not printing posters so...

But the SD500 takes beautiful pictures as do most Canons. Nice collection over there. :)

I have a Canon Powershot G6, a Canon Powershot SD500, and an Olympus D435. My video camera is a Sony something (it's a few years old).
My main camera is the G6 and in the bag I have an extra battery, lens cleaner, remote, and a few CF cards (1 GIG, 512MB, 256MB).

Funny story.  I had one of those kodak docking cameras.. And i took it down to moreys piers years back.  And it fell out of my back pocket on the great white, landed on the track, and the next train ran it over.  I still have it, both pieces!

I now own a canon digital elph.  Its nice, im fairly happy with it, but i wish i could buy myself a nice SLR.

I would love a nice SLR as well, but the ones I want are quite expensive.
I am also looking for a new small form camera like an Olympus Stylus, the 810 would be sweet.
