What Was the Worst Roller Coaster You Have Ever Been On?
-
Villain.
-
Ninja at SFoG and/or Borg Assimulator/Nighthawk at Carowinds.
-
Any SLC without the new restraints. And colossus.
-
Probably a tie between mind eraser at sfa and Manhattan express - now simply called roller coaster in Vegas.
-
I'd vote Superman at SFA but people disagree with me. It just didn't feel very maintained at all.
-
Nightmare at Phantom Cove (Darien Lake)
Rolling Thunder is top 5
-
^That'll change with puberty
Mind Eraser @SFA, easily
-
It's my sentimental favorite.
Clementon's Jack Rabbit was my first wooden coaster but RT was the big wooden coaster located at the big park. The anticipation of waiting to ride until I was tall enough make it a big deal in my heart.

I don't appreciate the shot. I think it sucks, and I think you probably would too if you didn't ride it for the first time in the 80's.
I assure you it's not just me that thinks it sucks either. CoasterGrotto.com is a site where you can rate all the coasters you have ever been on and if you were to search for the top 10 WORST wooden coasters (decided by hundreds of voters)RT is the #8 worst barely out of the #6 spot.
Look for yourself...http://www.coastergrotto.com/top-10.jsp?argType=14 (http://www.coastergrotto.com/top-10.jsp?argType=14)
If you like a coaster and someone else doesn't, good for you. But don't attack them, and their oppinion.
I have the right to my oppinion without grade 8 insults.
-
Whoa whoa whoa lets take a step back and breathe. Where did he attack you? Im failing to see it. I don't want to see this break out into a flame war for nothing. I am pretty positive that Dan was not attacking you in any way. Dan has always had a fond love for Rolling Thunder for as long as I have been on the forums so atleast 5 years now, and probably more.
-
What does Puberty have to do with being the worst coaster ? If he has only ridden x amount of coasters in his life and Rolling Thunder happens to be one of them so be it.
-
It was just a joke!
Bubba, really?
-
rolling thunder
-
comet at hershey
-
Viper. I win.
-
I agree with Viper but the worst was the Hurricane when it was at the pavillion in Myrtle Beach ..UGH that was painful so is Mean Streak in Cedar Point ..another painful ride .
-
Ugggh, I take back my worst two. Hurricane takes the cake for me!
-
The tornadoe at Jenkinsons board walk!
-
I have to second Manhattan Express in Vegas. What a POS. Rolling Thunder is wayyy better.
-

By implying that I haven't hit puberty as of yet is how.
My response was not intended to be rude. Only to stand up for myself and my right to an oppinion without being slamed. Also to show I am not the only one who feels this way. RT is rated near the bottom of all wood coasters on many polls.. Coaster Grotto, Coaster Fanatics, Mitch Hawkers internet poll, and so on.
Now look I don't want this to go any farther.. I get what he's saying, I get that he likes RT. We all like coasters that are rated poorly... For example I really like a cloned vekoma boomerang at my home park cuz it was my first inverted coaster. There is nothing wrong with that. The only thing I didn't appreciate was the puberty thing, but stuff like that happens. I've said stuff meant as a joke that ppl took harshly before. It happens. I'm over it.
My hope is that I get to ride RT at some point again and it forces me to retract my previous comments.
ps. Bubba X=74 know what I'm sayin.
-
Oh well no wonder you don't like it. ;)
Don't be surprised if your opinions greatly change after you've ridden another 300 or so coasters. But regardless, like what you like. :)
-
Ugggh, I take back my worst two. Hurricane takes the cake for me!
LOL Wade ... I knew someone had to ride it and boy I still cring when I even go past the lot that was the pavillion . That was one painful ride .
-
I think it was 5 or 6 years ago since I was on it but I actually thought about first aid a requsting a trip to the hospital for the first and only time in my life during a park trip. I'm sure the plastic and unpadded g trains didn't help but holy crap there were literally potholes in the track!
-
Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia. What a piece of unmitigated crap. And yes, I've ridden Manhattan Express, and the Hurricane at Pavilion.
-
300 more! I wish. I have a hard enough time dragging my fam on 10 new ones/year... I'll be 60. I need some cross country trips or something.
And I do realize boomerangs suck... its sentamental value that makes me like it. I've been on 2 other and hate them like they stole my lunch.
-
Shockwave
-
WHICH Shockwave? There are several...
-
I bet he's referring to the one that was at Great Adventure, which IMO was the worst of the bunch.
-
I've never had a bad ride on SFoG's Ninja. I actually thought it was pretty cool for what it was on my three trips there. I even found the back to be smoother than the front.
I'd say the Myrtle Beach Pavilion's Hurricane was worse than Rolling Thunder, but I still enjoyed it. The back seat had some awesome airtime going into the first helix. It was rough, but not that bad.
-
Anything designed by Dinn and Summers still rank as my worst wooden coasters.
-
(RIP) Dorney's Hercules!
-
Kingdom coaster dutch wonderland
-
Dinn/Summers made some great rides. Despite their poor construction, Timber Wolf, Texas Giant and Georgia Cyclone are still darn good rides. Predator is hit or miss. Timber Wolf to me is kind of like Rolling Thunder to Dan, except Timber Wolf was ranked number 1 for several years until Cedar Fair came in and started ruining it.
-
Ravine flyer : (
-
Poor Bubba. You gotta be prepared for thems Gravity Group woodies. El Toro softened you up. ;)
-

I am sure many , many people felt the same way after riding . I know I did . Funny thing is the kids went on it and LOVED it What the heck was that all about ?? I think they would ride anything and love it .
-
sorry yes I was refering the to infamous "standup roller coaster" i called it the nut cruncher with a side neck pain, back ache, and the early beginnings of scoliosis. I am not sure my back has ever been right since
-
ouch, that bad? :0
-
I've always liked Shockwave, you just have to know how to get the restraint locked to where you want it.
-
when i was at cedar point, mantis, which is a b&m stand up can be a nut cruncher too. i didn't like it when they force the restraints up so i can't get enough room. it's rather hard to walk after going on it a couple times is a row, but it's also the fact i was walking all day. :D
-
The whole stand-up concept was a bit of a lemon. I guess thats why none have been built since 1999, even though B&M's website still lists it as a current model. I'd like to get on Riddlers one day just to give the best one a shot.
Check out this commercial I found for CW's stand-up coaster. It's virtually a clone to shockwave at KD, or King Cobra at KI.

I'm a big fan of Chang followed by Riddlers, but most if not all hurt in some way or another.
-
Iron Wolf :)
-
Chang wasn't so hot the last time I rode it. Riddler is my #1 stand up and Georgia Scorcher takes #2
-

I once rode predator 17 rides in a row a rainy summers day in 1993ish... Not a good idea!
For those who are not aware of predator it's shakey even for a Summers/Dinn
-
Iv never been on a stand-up. I've seen one, but never tried it. Im sorta afraid now because I tried Superman and it was worse then I thought. Should I try it. Is it painful, or am I just over reacting. If thats the case then I might be willing to give it a shot...
-
You'll never know unless you give it a shot yourself.
-
I know Mind Eraser at SFNE is a head banger
I even think they should re theme it as a Hard Rock metal coaster named
Headbanger :headbash:
-
Son of Beast, hands down
Zola 7 at Fuji-Q is a close second
-
Viper. I win.
Totally agree what a worthless piece of crap. Also how other people were saying about Ninja as SFOG I thought that had given me whiplash the way it stopped before the unloading.
Mischa.
-
Son of Beast may have givin its last ride.
-
i heard people broke bones on that.
-
People have broken bones on lots of coasters, even the good ones. Ask Bubba. ;)
-
Let me guess... Ravine Flyer 2?
-

Riddler's Revenge was awesome!
-
Stand-ups are no more painful than any other head-banging steel coaster unless you lock your seat up too high, then you might have some groinal discomfort.
-
LOL.

Stand-ups are no more painful than any other head-banging steel coaster unless you lock your seat up too high, then you might not have a family someday.
-
Again LOL
-
I have not been on one ..., is is it head banging or ....body banging?
-
There's no body banging. They tend to bang your head more than most B&M's do though.
You kind of sit on a bicycle seat, but more or less you're standing up like when you sit on a bike and touch your feet to the ground. There's an Over The Shoulder restrain just like on a B&M looper. They adjust the height of the seat and shoulder restraint to each rider's height before locking it. Some males complain of "groinal discomfort", but I've never had that problem as I always make sure the bicycle seat is low enough when they lock the position so my weight isn't on the seat, but rather on my legs/feet and that is how you are supposed to ride. The seat is only there to give your legs some added stability. It is not meant to be sat on.
