Title: SFMM: Psyclone and Flashback Go Bye-Bye?
Post by: GADVwow on January 20, 2007, 07:05:51 AM
Six Flags Magic Mountain now boasts only of 15 (not 17) coasters on their website. Also, neither Psyclone nor Flashback appears on the list of thrill or family rides.

Supposedly, the area is now being cleared for a new family attraction.

Well, I actually think it's for the better. Flashback has been rotting away for the past few years and Psyclone was terrible!

Didn't a ton of new wood just arrive to fix up Psyclone?

Not sure if it just got there or it's been sitting for a couple of years. I guess they could use some for the train station now.

/\  yup, thats what I was thinking of... regardless, it does appear obvious that the ride will be history.

IMO, the transportation ride Shapiro was talking about will be the Metro rehabbed and themed to Thomas the Tank Engine.  It just makes perfect sense.  I would then expect to see a Thomas section in 2008.

FINALLY!!!!

Unfortunately (or fortunately) the kids never got to ride Flashback. But since they took away the power source for Flashback when they put in Tornado, it was just a matter of time.

Wonder when Psyclone will be closed. I'd like to get one last ride on it for old times sakes.

Psyclone will ALWAYS be special to me.  At the time I rode it, it was the last wooden coaster in the USA I had not ridden.  Always before, it would see me coming and either shut down or already be shut down!

And I liked the thing!  A lot, actually.  It had great pacing, though it made sounds no wood coaster should ever make!

Psyclone was actually a REALLY good ride before the '94 earthquake.

With the removal of Flashback, maybe they will install a park entry gate to HH? I know that Flashback is very close to HH, so this could be a great idea to connect the two parks. As for Psyclone, I can see Thomas/Wiggles landing in there...
