Due to the incoming inclement weather, the park will be closed on Sunday April 15th. Normal park operations shall resume on Saturday, April 21st.
-
I still dont think this storm will be THAT bad
-
With THIS forecast:
Heavy rain. A chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Windy with highs around 50. East winds 15 to 25 mph...increasing to 25 to 30 mph this afternoon. Gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.
Why on EARTH should they be open?
-
They shouldnt be open, thats for sure...
Last Thursday they closed at 2.. it rained in the morning until about 1 pm.. then cleared up to be a really sunny day. Oddly enough, there was a decent amount of people trying to get into the park around 2 o'clock when they closed.
Thanks for the heads up though RJ

I was going to tell Wade this when I found out yesterday around 4 PM, but I didn't have a spare moment to pop on the boards. I figured that if anyone here was going to be insane enough to think about going, they'd check here first.
And KUDOS to the new SF site. They had the closing of the park up on the website, which I honestly didn't expect.

I just drove by the park about an hour ago. They had the gates closed and everything.
-
Well duh. :P A few employees still had to go in since they wanted to make sure the park didn't self destruct during the whole storm.

And those few employees would stop that from happening how exactly?

By cutting the red wire

Thats for them to figure out. :)

By cutting the red wire
No it is by pushing the green button or is that the red button ? Oh well i am sure the park did just fine . it is probally just flooded like all of SI is right now .
-
I couldn't get over how much rain we got (or still getting!). I can only imagine what happened to the park through all of this. I have a feeling all of that nice mulch they just laid got messed up :(
This is the retention basin across from my house. It usually has tons of grass on the INSIDE of the fence and goes down between 5 and 10 feet before you would normally see water. This is the first time in the 4 years I've lived here that it overflowed. My neighbors across the street are freaking since they are on the downhill side of it.

School may be cancelled tomorrow because of all this rain!

Ahh the Beauty of Living in Manor Heights ;)
I am on Mountainview Ave. as well so just by those two names you can tell I was not flooded out, I am on the bottom of a hill but ontop of another hill, although I dont get flooded out I get MASSIVe AMMOUNTS of water rushing through my yard and sidewalk, the only flood i got is a tiny bit in my basement
-
Actually, I got a bad flood down there, i mean BAD
-
Spoke too soon, huh?
Montclair is on top of one of those big Jersey hills we like to call mountains. We get a little flooding, but not enough to close the school down. Then again, our University President has never closed the school for inclement weather for an entire day. This lady actually had the nerve during the first big storm to open the university at 10 AM, have the first classes held at 11:30 AM, just to close it at 2:15 PM. Only two class periods were open the whole day. Such crap.
-
Yes I did, and ill be down there dumpin it out today :(
-
We were lucky we did not have flooding inside but our yard looked like we needed to build an arc soon. :o
Our pool cover came loose and there were are in the pouring rain fixing it to put a pump on to get the water off the dam cover. I didn't want the nasty dirty water from the cover to distroy our opening it and trying not to have green water this season. NOT FUN. Around the corner form us on Amboy road there were cars submergered in water. It was pretty bad but i am glad i am not in boundbrook NJ and that I am in great kills SI because those people have a real big mess .

I live in Somerset, which is one town over from Bound Brook. We usually come out of these storms rather unharmed; just a bit of water in the basement and maybe spotty flooding on Easton Avenue since it has many hills and is by the Raritain. Bound Brook on the other hand constantly is SLAMMED in all kinds of weather. It's rather freaky.

Bound Brook!
Hamilton St. Cafe is the coolest place ever! And I have some relatives in Flemington and Hillsborough also RJ.
-
Down in Toms River, we didn't get it that badly. I haven't been over in Seaside to see how they got hit.
-
My hair got wet when I walked outside :P
Not to bad around here, Southern Camden county.
Just retention basins and streams near max. a few yards have some water.
the biggest source of basment flooding is where your downspout lets out.
try to keep that water away from your home
slope soil away from the base of your home and extend if needed your downspouts away from the house.
Just think the entire surface area of your roof drains into one or two downspots
Now lsts whatch everything grow after all this rain

LOL The Raiders are pretty good at just about everything. My cousins played soccer for them. Basically for the past 10 years you can't find a Hillsborough varsity team with out their name lol
