Happy New Year everybody! I know I'm really looking forward to 2008!
-
This is my third day of New Years, LOL. I haven't gotten to see the special fireworks the last two days, but hopefully I'm outside the Mountain tonight.
HAPPY NEW YEARS!
FELIZ ANO NUEVO!

ehhh, EPCOT is way better on the 4th and New Years :D
I guess even the Magic Kingdoms are still worth watching though lol
-
Are we all a day early, or am I losing it?
-
Close enough to Midnight. LOL.
I'm hearing that this year is the biggest fireworks show they've ever had at the MK. Perimeter Fireworks, plus more from all the MK resorts, plus writing in the sky. Yeah. Wow.
-
Yes, but EPCOT has fire :D
-
Happy New Year everybody!
And I got a 6 AM Flight to Newark, Fun

I'll title this post: Why I Love Space Mountain, even when I whine about it
So I come to work, greeted by signs saying "Magic Kingdom Closed" and "Magic Kingdom Sold Out". Knowing that this has been the case since 11:30 AM, I'm ready for a busy day. Get to the mountain and see a season-high 150 minute wait, and get ready for the madness. Fast forward to about 11:30 and the fireworks are starting to go off. I'm feeling a little down because I did want to see them, but I was inside the Mountain on rotation at that time. I get my final break of the night, and of course it ends right before midnight. Surprise! One of the cast members brought food in for us for New Years, so we're all pigging out in the break room. Get my assignment and it's Unload on A side for someone's break. I tell him he better go and enjoy the fireworks while he's on break, and I'm just ready to simply hear them exploding over us. He then says to me, "I don't want to see the fireworks, do you? I'll push my break back." So I call the coordinator, he gives it the OK, and I dash down the speed ramp with one of my ICP friends to get outside. The fireworks were already going and they were EVERYWHERE! I mean, obviously they would be since they were perimeter fireworks, but you simply don't know where to look. It was absolutely beautiful. Then the countdown happens, and they have fireworks in the shape of the numbers. 5-4-3-2-1-HAPPY NEW YEAR! The handful of us outside the mountain start hugging, guest start thanking us for working as they're entering the building, and it's simply amazing. only in Space would someone push their break back like that, and only in Space would the coordinators allow it. The only thing that could have made the moment better would have been if my girlfriend was there next to me. I never missed her as much as I did tonight during the entire program. I simply love Space Mountain, and January 4th is going to be a tough day.

That's awesome RJ.

Nice to know the Magic still exists even for the CM's ;D
Awesome RJ.

It sure does, and we all love to make it for ourselves and let the guests in on the fun. We had countdowns spieled over the All Building PA for at least 3 hours every half hour, a 5-4-3-2-1 countdown, "Celebrate" by Kool and the Gang playing on the PA once New Years hit, and randomly throughout the night. Wishing everyone a "Happy New Earth Year" at unload. Just awesome.
I also got my first ride of the New Year, which turned into the first Cascade of the New Year. Nothing's like riding, then all of a sudden you can see how lame it really is. It actually made it a little more fun. LOL. I was riding with one of my friends that I had sent around for a re-ride.
