Title: Tango
Post by: coastersue on April 04, 2009, 08:58:39 PM
I must be out of the loop, but why is Tango blocked off as if it doesn't exist?  I notice it's listed as defunct on the Ride Status page as well.  Seems strange to have a ride so visible to everyone to be closed off like that.

Supposedly from what we hear the ride wasn't even supposed to be there anymore, but they didn't get to removing it in time. It's just not functioning anymore so they are taking it out.

It caught the Y2K virus just like the other flats at GADV, from 2000 on they seem to not work anymore

The real question is: if it does get taken out, will it be replaced by another ride, or a smoking section.

Another mild ride that was a hair above the kiddie rides but not overly thrilling for the little ones bites the dust.  Hopefully it's just mothballed to ride out the economic mess were in.

Thats what I'm thinking too Wade.  I think that all of these unsigned rides are really just going to stay there all season without being moved or operated.

Yes.

There are thousands upon thousands of people that visit the park each year, and I am sure many of those people enjoy taking their younger ones on Tango. Just because you do not like a ride does not mean everyone else in this world feels the same way.

Let's see, I have a 1, 4 and 6 year old and they were definately asking why they couldn't ride tango last saturday. Don't be so self centered. The park is already lacking intermediate rides as it is.

Why is everyone debating this with a 13 year old.  When never used to have these problems on this site.

Gosh, back in the day, Spinmeister, El Sombrero, Freefall, and the Scrambler were where it was at. I miss those days. Its weird thinking about the fact that kids today talk about Tango and the newer flats.

Speaking of Tango, if im not mistaken Wade will be working part-time giving piggy backs in it spot. Its a very economical plan actually

Me, I understand that you are 13, but you really have to open your mind and see that the park caters to many different demographics, and MUST do so to survive.  Some of us have families.  Some of us go it alone.  Some are teens, and others are in their mid 20's.  Everyone has different values in the end.

On top of that, as enthusiasts, we're students of the industry.  While we have our likes, we all know that the park needs balance.  Being fans of Great Adventure, it's pretty much an accepted fact that Great Adventure lacks balance, and it was making strides towards correcting that.  This season, the closing of the Balin's Jungleland rides and other rides such as Tango are sad to see because we know that they serve a demographic that no other rides in the park serve.  It's hard to be family friendly when you have a kid with literally nothing to do.

This thread is about Tango. Hence we talk about the ride.  Stop posting in this thread if you hate the ride so much. Thank you in advance.

Well I went to the park today and it's still sitting untouched,  unlike the rides in Ballins Jungle.

i just dont get it, they make so much money each year why cant they just reopen houdini and and add a couple new flats

It's actually more the cost of staffing and maintaining the ride that does in the flats. Although with these kiddie rides I think it was more just the overall quantity they had that hurt things in the end since a ton of staffing was required.

I also think with the kiddie ride that all of the ones in BJL were from Bugs Bunny Land before they were painted and rehab to go into BJL. Maybe they were too old to keep maintaining . I am still very sad to see them go. My niece is only 3 and loved those rides they were perfect for her to go on alone . What a shame to see them go .

As for Tango we really need some flats and to see this one go to is just another shot to the park . I love coasters but I like a lot of flats too and it seems more and more of our park has become only coasters and no flats . I understand times are bad but what is the point of going to SFGADV if you do not like coasters as a lot of us do . You can count maybe 10 or 11 flats that are left if they are open and the park has like 10 or 11 coasters . Pretty soon we will have more coasters then flats... Just my 2 cents ..
