Title: Things I Have Learned From Great Adventure.
Post by: nitrorox1414 on June 10, 2009, 09:41:25 PM
Things I Have Learned From Great Adventure.

1. Never ride Scream machine twice in a Row, no matter how short the line is.

2. Superman is not worth a 20 minuete wait or more.

3. Do not go front row on Batman! It hurts your head.

4. Oporaters at Rolling Thunder hate their job(well at least when I was there, they were sighing and talking about what they were going to do at lunch brake!)

You can add to this.

1. Never Ride Nitro front row in the rain
2. Kingda Kas purple train is alot bumpier than the others. (orange train is the smoothest in my opinion)
3.don't eat too much cotton candy before riding.
thank you and have a nice day.

There are so many I would like to list but my Number one and most IMPORTANT is

GO to the bathroom before getting on El Toro ... I am always stapled into the seats there and have to run to the bathroom afterward...

That stinks, I always forget to go to the bathroom and its always before El Toro!

I can't speak for every employee Nitro, but one would have to separate the employees at Rolling Thunder (and Congo Rapids) from the rest of the ride employees. Their rides require the employees to work harder and have allot more responsibilities than most of the other rides.

1. Flat rides matter. They make a visit to a park MUCH more enjoyable.
2. Dark rides are a great way to escape the heat and steel.
3. Landscaping and nice walkways make me feel more comfortable.
4. I like riding rides more than I mind smoking.
5. Good ride employees can make me forget that I'm having a bad visit.
6. Being stapled makes no sense and it's the sign of an improperly trained employee.
7. I like all types of rides from all manufacturers, in moderation.
8. I like stunt shows as well as animal shows.
9. I like riding as many coasters in the front seat as I do in the back.
10. I like to watch parades in parks with a well-rounded selection.

Here's a few specifics that I've learned to like:
I enjoy GASM, Blackbeards and Skull Mountain in the back and I like RT, Nitro and ET as much in the front as the back.
GASM is better with a full train and I like the Blue and White trains better than the Red.
RT's yellow train is my favorite of the four, followed by Green, Red and Blue and the ride is better when the tracks are wet.
I can not ride Batman more than once in a row.

4. Oporaters at Rolling Thunder hate their job(well at least when I was there, they were sighing and talking about what they were going to do at lunch brake!)

And may ask when you saw this? So I can yell at my crew!

I remember one at rolling thunder who loved that job, it was his favorite coaster.
here is my list of things I learned
#1 thing i learned was to not ride batman 8 times in 1.5 hrs. and not to ride runaway train 14+ times in a row when there is no line.. i never felt so dizzy in my life! i avoid scream machine due to head aches, two rides in a row does it.
#2 every row in every coaster is different, go for the one with the shortest line since front/back will eventually empty when riding the same coaster a few times in a row.
#3 larger groups of people typically stop in front of the enterance for several minutes, this is no indication of the line, just walk in since they don't know what they are doing yet, but if they do decide to go in ahead i'll let them.
#4 if a coaster's line is too long, skip it since it will "empty" later on as everyone picks a different ride.
#5 dark knight does wonders when I have a spinning dizzy feeling, the preshow 'bang' some employees makes it more fun.
#6 the shows are fun to watch, lines are shorter when shows occur.
#7 always pick sunday over sat for more ride time
#8 weather channel saying it will rain "for the day" and the "hour by hour" showing <50% chance only for a couple hours of that entire day = a great six flags day. :)

Cycloneman makes a visit to Rolling Thunder a lot of FUN ...
We had no line and they really moved up there to get the trains moving ..

Things I have learned from Great Adventure are:
1.Always go to Great Adventure on a Sunday after it has rained
2.The Dark Knight NEVER has a line rain or shine, so take advantage of that.  ;)
3.The Skyway is a great place to view the parade if lines aren't long.
4.If you don't enjoy 'air time' then do not ride Bizzaro in the middle car on the edge. Its a heck of a ride.  :o
5.Log Flume isn't worth a wait unless you're really hot.
6.To avoid crowds, take that lakefront path. Its also scenic.
7.I love Six Flags hot dogs.  ;D
8.Never ride GASM more than 1 time that day.
These all help me.

1. 6 consecutive rides on gasm, is 5 to many, even if there isnt a line.
2. superman is not worth more then a 20 minute wait.
Title: Re: Things I Have Learned From Great Adventure.
Post by: themeparkrider on July 02, 2009, 11:24:11 AM
I have never been on Superman. The wait time is always longer then 20 minutes. I guess its never worth it.

I learned that if Bizarro has a full queue, and I do mean FULL, and the ride is running all three trains so slowly that all three trains are consistently stacked, and the greeter for the ride says it is a 2 hour wait for the ride...

It's actually a 45 minute wait in reality.

Check, Check more like 1 Hour if you add people not getting in the right row if they don't follow the signs about larger body dimensions.

for B&M, i noticed bizzaro and nitro both have 1/3 posted times for waits, batman is probably the longest wait (a true full wait of 2 hours worst case full line), along with superman since they load inefficently when it comes to people getting on. it seems 3 to 1 when i count in line of trains sent out comparing nitro and batman. it really depends on how fast they are are loading the trains too. some workers move slow, the managers and some others check very quick, but i like those pessimistic posted wait times, they work in my favor when a ton choose to leave line since it's "too long"

Ive never had to wait for batman. Once I rode it 11 times in a row front seat without having to get off.

Bizarro - Special Effects = Fun, yet slightly disappointing.

I also learned yesterday that Wade has poor timing. :P

In the same day Reggie gets on rapids in 30 minutes while I walked away from a full queue and a two hour wait just two hours earlier :(

Then we went to ride the skyride after seeing both sides running all day and it closed lol. Presumably because of high winds.

I also learned on that visit that if the last switchback through the garden before you go into the "Sewer" part of the queue is being used, it's about a 45 minute wait.

Nitro in the back is the best air time

nitro at night in the back left corner is friggin awsome =], and if you get stuck at the top of el toros lift at night for 10 minutes because someone screams i didnt buckle my belt, and the poor ride op runs up there, the ride op is in figgin shape, and the following ride will be the best ever
Title: Re: Things I Have Learned From Great Adventure.
Post by: Robert T Ackerman on August 02, 2009, 06:27:02 PM
What makes it the best ride ever and what does the ride op being in shape have anything to do with it?
Title: Re: Things I Have Learned From Great Adventure.
Post by: armystrong62b on August 02, 2009, 06:35:41 PM
the ride op has nothing to do with it just stating he was in shape lol, he made it to the top of the hill in about a minute. and it was the suspense of being stuck, my 2nd ride on el toro ever, it was right b4 park closing, like 70 degrees, just everything felt perfect. and it was hilarious we got stuck because i was talking about what would happen if we did inline. thats imo though

i havent heard of it getting stuck in awhile, this was a safety stop because of someone being dumb. i do think it was back around 06ish 07 it used to randomly stop on the lift hill.

If both cars are on Rolling Thunder and are dispatched at the same time, RT is much more fun.I think it is more likely that the left side will win.. Also, only ride it in the front!
