I wonder what happened to Riptide. It was running fine not too long ago. Not too long ago being like 2-3 days ago.
-
Just think ...spending all that time to fix the turntable, have a boat get stuck and then turnaround and close it for the season. I just don't get it?
-
Two more bite the dust.
-
Why dont they just close the whole park down at this rate.....
-
Be careful what you wish for.
Sigh.
-
From what i have heard about riptide is when that boat got stuck it caused some serious damage to the turntable

Sigh.
That wish would probably come true too.

With the way things are going, I guess the left track of Rolling Thunder will never open this year. :'(

I was at P:KI a few weeks ago and every coaster had all trains running.(except SOB due to recent incident).
THe racer had both tracks running and one was backwards.
Holiday world all trains and coasters
Indiana Beach all trains and coasters
SFGA all trains and coasters.
THey had all year to get this running actually I haven't been on RT yet this year by the time I get back to the park I won't be surprised if it's running at all ??
-
Then you must have been at Paramount's Kings Island before July 9. Since then, Son of Beast has something in common with Chiller.
-
Does anyone know if Rolling Thunder is open at all? I've read a couple different reports saying it was closed recently.

Sue. It was closed all day today
-
It could close down for season to under go some major rehab on both sides
-
With RT a little 3 day rehab wont fix it, they need to seriously do a major overhaul of the whole ride, these quick rehabs just havent been working
It's ashame to see FF closed, I dont think it's possible to go to the park anymore and find all the rides open, They have them all open at SFNE and other parks but why cant we have all of the rides open at GADV, I thought we were the park that sets the example...
-
/\ The other parks haven't been neglected the same way Gadv has been over the years. Many of the other parks are also either newer or have mostly redone sections.
Gadv was treated like crap over the last decade (in terms of upkeep).

I certainly hope they're not doing that now. They had all the time in the world when it was closed from last September to this June. That's not right if they've already closed it down for the year after so much down time already.

Sorry Sue but I think this weekend will be the true sign as to when/if RT reopens this year at all. Keep a watch on the ticket booth sign for RT's status to see if it changes to closed for the season or temporarily closed.
Oddly enough, Chiller still falls under the temp section which backs up what I was told that it would reopen in time for FF.
This season was interesting to say the least. On a positive note, I think it truly brought to light the serious problems that have plagued Gadv. over the years vs. the other SF parks. Shapiro even admitted it.

Hmm. Over at Kings Island, Son of Beast was closed early last fall for rehab. Didn't open til May. And closed again on July 9, late in the day...Hasn't been open since.
Seems to me, if a ride needs mechanical work, it's best they recognize that and do it, right away!
-
Well, on a positive note, at least it isn't closed because of LOS ;)

Yes, absolutely, if it's a mechanical/safety issue I agree it should be addressed immediately rather than have something happen like on SOB. I certainly don't want to be seeing RT in the news headlines unless it's good news. Hopefully, if it's addressed immediately, it'll also reopen immediately after that. GADVwow, you know I only want what's best for RT(and to get more than 12 rides on it this year would also be nice). ;D
What I was saying is that it shouldn't be closed down just because people think it needs work. Although I'd love to see it get the TLC it deserves, that's just the way RT has and probably always will run.

Currently, RT is still not slated as "closed for the season" which would seem to indicate work is ongoing at this time :)
