Title: How many rides did you get on Ka this year?
Post by: ChuckR on October 18, 2005, 02:31:08 PM: How many launches did you expierence on Kingda Ka? What was your favorite one?

I was lucky enough to get 76 rides on it, maybe get another one by the end of the year. I got them all because of the commercial shoot and being lucky, by going on days when there was a station wait for it.

I got to say though my favorite one was the first time I went on it. I hopped in the front row of Muffin and there was me and my cousin in the front row. In the second row were these two guys and the rest of the train was filled with water dummies. I got off the ride with my jaw down and I said to myself, "Wow, I got to do that again." Another time was last Sunday when I rode it with Diana and my cousin. We literally dissapeared into the fog when we reached the top of it, it was AMAZING!

Post by: Bubba Z on October 19, 2005, 01:01:59 AM: Only 9, I would have to say my first front row ride during coaster celebration would be my favorite. Just sitting there after the horn sounded knowing I would be shot down the track after that long winter of driving back and forth to the park just to see it get built was well worth it. Longest wait on purpose 5hrs.

Post by: Fjask on October 19, 2005, 04:23:27 PM: Only one ride..... Waited 4 hours for it. Considering that many people did not even get a chance to ride it, I'm happy with my 1 ride; before the breakdown too. I love that anticipation from the time the horn sounds to the launch.
It was impressive waiting in the old queue and watching the train launch right next to you, and also, there was that moment of silence as everyone watches the train crest the top hat.
I am hoping to get a lot more rides in next season, as the lines will hopefully be shorter then they were this season.

Post by: innervision on October 19, 2005, 05:08:39 PM: 60 Rides, and the commercial shoot definitley gave me some awesome memories. However some of my favorite rides came from the night rides without any lights on Ka. Amazing.

Not really. Its just one of those "who you know" scenarios.

I'm only at 14.5 but I'm happy with that since I was on one of the few rollbacks with passengers 8)

I'm glad I didn't do the shoot. Media Day alone beat the crap out of me. I seriously don't think I would have made it through much more in one day.

Post by: rjholla2003 on October 20, 2005, 11:37:25 PM: I honestly do not think that I have ever been more tired than those two days. My schedule looked like:

4:30AM- Wake up
5:30- pick up girlfriend and head down to Jackson
6:10- Arrive at Great Adventure
6:30- Check-in
7:30- Ride Ka (first day did not ride until 4:30)
12 Noon- Lunch
1 PM- Ride Ka
7- Shoot over (second day we left early)

For the WB shoot I had to wake up at 3:30 in the morning so I could pick up my girlfriend at 4:30 and be at the park for a 5:30 call. That was really tiring. After SP ERT and our ten rides, we went back to Somerset and laid in the park for a few hours.

I still can proudly say that I was one of the few that rode the tallest and fastest coaster the day it opened to the public. By the way, how much did it cost to be in the commercial shoot?

Post by: WadeJ on October 30, 2005, 09:15:06 PM: There is no cost lol... They should have been paying everybody actually 8) Re-riding KK that many times starts to get old real quick.

The commerical shoot was mostly by invite only. You need to know the right people or be a member of a club like ACE ;)

Post by: rjholla2003 on October 31, 2005, 12:32:49 AM: Well, if you do the cash value of the compensation that we recieved for the shoot, it was ~$160 a day. Free admission to the park for the day (we got to do whatever on our breaks= $50), food vouchers (~$10 each), and two tickets/one season pass per day. (~$100)

Despite how tiring it got and all of the pain, it was a lot of fun and I'd do it again.

I did not go on the 28th but did go on the 30th. Unfortunately it was a five hour line and I did not want to wait that long. So I'll have to wait until 06.

Post by: SilverBullet on November 22, 2005, 05:07:02 PM: I got a pitiful (compared to you guys) 19 rides. My favorite has to be my first front row which was my 4th I believe. I waited out the rain, the breakdowns to get a Gak night ride (My first) and it just blew me away.
