Title: Hell Cat is OPEN!
Post by: Medusa32 on June 07, 2008, 12:49:38 AM
Thanks to state inspectors agreeing to stay a little late tonight Hell Cat did receive a green sticker. The ride will open Saturday with the park. However the park will be very crowded so if you do want to ride it I suggest you get to the park at opening. Only one train operation will be avaliable.

The first drop seems to be the only thing that the trims effect. You can feel them pretty hard when going down the drop. But after that the coaster is still flying through the track. The train still takes the helix with amazing speed. The track is a smoother but if you sit in the back you still have the same roughness that the ride has always had.

Meh. Still no top 10. The brakes sustained the air significantly.

Sustained means to keep going...Do you mean lessened? Or what, exactly?

The brakes made me hang out of my seat coming down the first drop. It was a REALLY hot day and Dorney's tree less midways were not the best place to start the mid-afternoon. I have to give it another try but I was hopping for smoother.

Blue train only for now. Line was 15 min most of the day but got up to 45 min in the evening. And just to let everyone know the ride was only running a second slower then last year all day today. That will be fixed though so its a few seconds slower.

I'm giving it a 2nd try. Right now I'm waiting an hour to get my season pass processed.

Oh man. It is so much better riding in the front than in back for me. It is still peppy and it gives decent air. The middle of the helix still has loads of positive g's and the begining and the exit from the helix has my favorite moments of negative g's on the ride. The camel hills and the bunny hills are awesome. Matt and I are now owners of Clementon season passes!

So how long did it end up taking to process the pass?

It took an hour at the season pass processing center. It took an additional half hour at the front gate because we upgraded one day passes. The computers were down when yesterday and we waited about 15 to 20 minutes. They were acting up today and we waited another 10 to 15 minutes. I would say it was about an hour and a half process total. They had only one person processing the passes. Perhaps you will have better luck!

FYI i got my pass on a Friday and waited about 10-15 minteus or less but it was hot and crowed.
looks like there are doing a good business that part of the town had alot of activity with people parking at the local businesses

The park was packed today or at least the water park

I had 2 rides Back seat and 2nd row (only running one train ) Medusa (Chris was it ? nice meeting you again) said maybe the 2nd one in a few days
I hope so. The line is not long about to the bottom of the steps but with one train and double checking it takes about 15-20 minutes.
I know if I go during the week it may be a walk on.

I go in the park and watched the train drop from the first hill and i was amazed that the train didn't look like it slowed down at all.  :D
So got in line go to the top and seen a single rider in the back seat I jumped ahead of a few peps and off we went.
in the back seat I barely noted the brakes The GM was right Tsunami did  not die and is alive and kicking.
It still has the fast turn around and the helix still has the "halfway drop thingy"
but it did feel a little smoother maybe from the track work.
I need to ride it much more but should be more ridable/.
I also think you don't fly over the 2nd hill and/or pop out of your seat as much on same.(sorry Rob) but only 2 rides today in 96 degree so i got out of there.

There are signs in the park if you pay to get in the park and want to upgrade to a season pass for only $29

to sum it up:
Its still a good ride  and I expected it to be worse

That's good to hear. I can't wait to get down there this summer.

Saturday's backseat ride left me a bit disappointed but the ride hadn't been totally ruined. Not as good as the other great mistake by S&S...AvaLAUNCH. Today, I rode it again in the last row while Tom and Dan rode in row two (no need for me to ride anywhere, but the money seat <G>)...

...much better. My lap bar didn't staple me half way through the ride this time. Everything I loved about J2 was still there, just on 10 instead of 11. ;) The helix is still the greatest woodie helix ever! The bouncing at the top of the second hill is still there. The air time in general is still all there, just a bit subdued. It's still one of my all-time favorite coasters and yes, it's still better than El Toro. :)

What Medusa said about them slowing it down even more worries me though. If I were you, I'd get to the park before they completely neuter this beast. ;)

When I rode it the night before it opened it was running a lot slower then what you guys had today and it was still a great ride. Once those trims start taking away from the ride what is so great about it there will be 10 of us employees up there tearing the trims apart. But I am not worried about it.
Ok I just spent 20 hours operating over the past 2 days, time for a day off and my first dark knight ride (even though I am not expecting it to be good). Then 6 straight days of work. :)

...Zallie's Shoprites were giving away three free tickets if you buy a season pass before June 15th. Not all Shoprites are participating, but I think allot of people went food shopping...

It was also 96+ degrees and it was the water park that was packed more then anything else
I snapped a quick pic on my way in the park  but the water park looked more crowed then this pic shows

So when is the Cat going to be neutered? Before the end of June?

Basicaly right now a run can be anywhere from 40-45 seconds. What they are trying to do is make the times of the runs a little more consistant then having one train 5 seconds slower then another.

I know I'm late and all but Hellcat is awesome with the trims! You fly out your seat during the first drop and it is pure heaven. Also airtime is evident!!!!
