Title: Questions Quirks & Complaints
Post by: jglonek on December 14, 2008, 11:36:39 PM
So again, welcome to Great Adventure Outpost!

We've tried to go through this site and test for issues as thoroughly as possible but as always it's possible to have missed a few. Plus, we aren't sure how everyone feels about the new site, the design and the features.

So we want to hear from you!

We want to know what you think of the new site. We want to know if you find any bugs that need to be worked out, or if there are things you wish to be changed on the site, or things you want to have added. Is something missing from the old site(s) that you want here? Do you not like the theme at all, and the way things are laid out? Tell us!

We want to hear the compliments, but we also want to hear the complaints! This is your site, and we want you to be happy and enjoy coming here and conversing with all the other members. So if there's something we can do to make Outpost better, let us know!

I already know of one thing that's not quite the way we want it yet - the "Sections" part of the Attractions section. We want to make them look MUCH nicer than they do now, and we will work on it!

So to that end, we have created a special forum (http://www.gadvoutpost.com/home.php?board=24.0) dedicated to hearing what you guys have to say about the new site! So please, go there and let your views be known so we can continue to improve Great Adventure Outpost!

The Arcade isn't saving high scores.
How am I supposed to beat Bubba in every game again?
I played that awful Castle Defender game for no gain.
Yes I am that bored right now.

LOL

Well, um, sorry lol

Were still working on the arcade.  I know all of the games aren't loaded and we were still trying to figure out a way to bring over the existing stats.  More to come :)

Hopefully Ken lasts that long :D

For those that are nearly blind (like myself), were also working on a larger font version of the theme.  It won't look as nice because things don't fit as well but it should make it easier for those that need the option.

I'm happy with the new site.  I was able to post to the forums and I usually need remedial lessons to do that ;)  Next I'll work on a profile picture

redlafrance, I love to hear stuff like that. If anything is going to make this site even more amazing its getting those people that don't normally post on the internet involved, a whole new point of view :)

I noticed when I had a few Firefox Tabs open when I went to post to the YOUTUBE thread
I went to copy and post back and fourth and when i went back to the thread from youtube the message was gone  ?

also looks like the Youtube tread doubled itself somehow   there is now 2 threads  ?

One of those threads has "or almost" on the end of it.  Did you rename it or something?

I did rename the 2nd post in that topic
i took out the   re:or almost
I didn't know it would create a new thread  ?

It didn't.  The recent posts links are making you think that.

Yeah, I think it's just the way the recent topics operate, and it saw the thread as two different ones for some reason.

I think Tom had asked about this, but could we have the button to collapse the left tab?

I tried reading a few older posts but it was impossible after a few pan and scans. ;)

Collapse to what? Up? Left? what would it accomplish, making the forums bigger?

What older posts were you havin trouble with? what was making them hard to read? Anyone with a bigger than 1024x768 resolution screen should see this site fine. Even though should, its just tight :(

Collapse whatever you like ;)

I'm not sure why some posts have the drag bars and some don't. 1024x768 is as small as I can go without breaking out the magnifying glass.

EDIT: I went to 1152 x 864 and it's still easy to read. The drag bars are there at the sides and the botton of some posts, but with the change of size I didn't need to use the bars. There is allot of extra gray space (the background with the diagonal lines,) which led me to beleive the sides could be collapsed to make the forums wider.)

Is it because of pictures and stuff?

Actually no. Some posts are all text, and have the bars. The non-photo TRs have them too. I'm not sure at what lengt of post the bars show up, but the posts which take up an entire screen seem to have them.

can you link one of the posts your talkin about?
Title: Re: Questions Quirks & Complaints

Actually, I think I figured it out. The ones without the pics were written in a non-standard font. When I changed it to veranda, the bars went away.

However, posts with pics posted before the merge have the drag bars, but in 1152x864, there is no need to actually use them.

Thanks you your help anyway!

Alright guys!

If you look up by the Logout button up top you now see an Expand option. Clicking that and following the directions will allow you to have the site fill your screen until you set it back to normal.

This only works while you are logged in.

And as a warning, some areas of the site might not look their best!

Love the expand and contract feature. It will go nicely when I had to edit or code some posts in the future.
