Info and suggestions:

Moreys owns Blue Palms and White Star both are located a stones throw away from the boardwalk and Mariners Landing
last year we got a room at the WHITE STAR for around $100 per night (Blue palms want about $145 and up) Sat and Sun nights with 4 in a room comes out with tax less then $55 per person for BOTH nights.

yes the rooms cost a bit more but NO DRIVING to the ERT ,Buffet, etc.
no need to pay to park THIS AND GAS MORE THEN MAKES UP FOR IT.
2 POOLS
A Close up view of the Boardwalk and Piers.
Free Coffee and Danish in the AM.
Free use of all Blue palms amenities
Believe me I'm cheap but this is a great DEAL
ROOM,FOOD,RIDES,ERT,Extreme rides ERT all FOR UNDER $100 THE WHOLE WEEKEND
and BEER  ;)

to save $ pick White Star in the Breezway or a few $ more poolside

This has been one of the best events around; however it's missing one of its key elements this year. The luau will NOT be in the waterpark under the 'NorEaster this year. It's just gonna be a typical ACE buffet in a catering shelter without all of the awesome ambience of the previous location. BIG MISTAKE. They moved it because apparently there wasn't enough seating for everyone at the waterpark. I'd rather stand or sit on the ground in that awesome ambience (which included live music, a coaster flying above you, a tropical environment AND FREE cocktails at the tiki bar) than even bother going to the luau in a shelter. The food was not my type at all. It was all about the experience, not even so much the free drinks.

Yes
its at Mariners Landing this year
Lets hope they "spruce up" the Buffet area somehow

and the food we also suggested in the email questionnaire to add more conventional food
we had a few young kids in our group and they didn't go for the barbecue pulled pork that much

just give us basics chicken etc.

But they did listen to a few of my suggestions like the Meet and greet/on the Drawing board  earlier in the day
and all this is NEAR the WHITE STAR

I'm just waiting for info on the yet to be announced Coaster
we all know about the "ghost ship"

I don't really want to go now with Flipper's being out of commission. It's really the heart of Wildwood for me. BUT, the event deal is the best around for experiencing one day let alone two days at Morey's. I might come down for Saturday, but I'm not gonna pay for a hotel Saturday night and come back on Sunday.

Do you have to be a member of ACE or another organization to attend this?

You do unless you register as someone else's guest whom is a club member.

The Sunday ERT on the Skyscraper is awesome, but Saturday's festivities will be enough for me if I make it down this year. Even if I crash at Rob's house Saturday night, I don't think I'll want to get up early enough to make it back down there in time for ERT. :-/

I only live like thirty minutes north (avoiding out of state traffic and traveling 75 mph). And I still have tickets from like 2002 which should still be good.

^Thanks for sharing. Wish I could have made it to the event. I may have just missed it, but do we know who is designing that coaster?
Title: Re: Morey's Coastin by The Ocean 2010 Roll Call

Pretty sure the current model was designed entirely by GCI. However Premiere and Gravity Group are/were potential firms for the final product.

Do they finally have an ETA for opening or is it still in the range of 2011-2014?
Title: Re: Morey's Coastin by The Ocean 2010 Roll Call
Post by: AV Matt on July 15, 2010, 08:12:22 PM
I'd say that range is about right. They don't seem to want to commit to anything.
Title: Re: Morey's Coastin by The Ocean 2010 Roll Call
Post by: B-mac on July 16, 2010, 03:06:56 PM
And I guess they're taking their time with getting started on the coaster. But who knows, they could be doing a "surprise" opening like with the ghost ship they just opened.
Title: Re: Morey's Coastin by The Ocean 2010 Roll Call
Post by: AV Matt on July 16, 2010, 06:53:56 PM
They've got a lot of site preparation to do before they can surprise and start building the new woodie. Other rides and buildings have to be relocated/demolished to make way for the ride. Once the Skyscraper shows up on the Great White pier, we'll know it's time. ;) Can't wait to see it all transpire. It's going to look look really cool when it's all in place.

Back to the event kind of... Did anyone else get "friended" by Jack Morey on Facebook yesterday?
Title: Re: Morey's Coastin by The Ocean 2010 Roll Call
Post by: coastersue on July 16, 2010, 08:40:27 PM
Jack seems to want to "friend" everybody.  He announced it at the "On The Drawing Board" get-together.  He's new to FB and I don't know if he's aware of what he's getting into.  He's already had 1 idiot asking where the t-shirts are.  I mean, come on, it hasn't even been a week yet!

Who cares if they ever send out the t-shirts. They don't owe them to us IMO. Some people are so whiny it makes me want to kick them in the head.

Post by: coastersue on July 16, 2010, 09:38:24 PM
Doesn't matter to us.  Neither one of us will probably even wear them, especially if they're black.  I gave mine to Dan last year.   :)  I'm just impressed that they would even go through the time and expense of doing that for us.
Title: Re: Morey's Coastin by The Ocean 2010 Roll Call

Exactly. They do way more than they should simply because they are trying to impress the enthusiast community and get recognition. But no matter how much you give, there are always some tools that want more and want it now.

I prefer the term "dropkick." but yes, some people are only in it for the free stuff...

Look for a 2012-2013 opening

They have all the Permits and approvals from the State DEP,Towns etc.
(will span both N. Wildwood and Wildwood)

So like Matt said when you see the Skyscraper and the Giant Slide being moved that's a sign

I'm really getting a Gravity Group feel from this coaster and I can only hope that is the case. I see a lot of Ravine Flyer, Hades and Boardwalk Bullet in there.

GCI
Title: Re: Morey's Coastin by The Ocean 2010 Roll Call
Post by: AV Matt on July 23, 2010, 01:00:26 PM
Huh? It looks soooo GCI and not at all Gravity Group if you look at the details of the banking. Way too many swooping turns for Gravity Group's style. Although they incorporate *some* spiraling drops and hills (like Hade's and RF2's turnarounds), their signature is straight hills/drops and parallel track and they usually transition out of their turns before entering drops in order to maximize the airtime. GCI's signature is to have no parallel tracks (going in every direction like an interstate interchange) and they usually blend turns into their hills which cuts down on laterals and airtime. It's kind of like the difference between B&Ms and Arrows (in terms of layouts).
Title: Re: Morey's Coastin by The Ocean 2010 Roll Call
Post by: AV Matt on July 23, 2010, 01:05:16 PM
For a good example of how TGG does things differently than GCI, compare Cornball Express' first drop to the first drop on the model (and pretty much every other GCI. Look at he shape of the drop and the transition from the lift hill. Cornball's shape allows for powerful airtime in the back seat, where as all GCI curved first drops have very little airtime as the banking counteracts it. I'd really like to see the first drop on the WildWoodie to be reprofiled like Cornball's. The minor tweaks like that make the difference between a good coaster and an amazing coaster.

At the Ghost Ship media event I talked with Will Morey and asked if its still GCI doing the coaster
and he said yes

so GCI  is pretty much doing it unless something crazy goes wrong
