Yes. Jackson is predicted to have around 80 MPH winds with heavy rain.

You see where Alexandria, Virginia is? I live near that area. My aunt insists on me and my mom going to New Jersey to sit out the storm (she plans on hunkering down in Jackson).

I told her to get out of the state but she wants to stay, even if she's ordered to evacuate.

You see the white line and towards the end of the yellow it says Lakewood? That's where I currently am and the park is 25 minutes from there, if anyone is curious.

Yeah, you're going to get spearheaded by this storm too.

I got into an argument with my mom over whether we should stay in Virginia or go to Jersey. I think I won it, but my mom is stubborn as hell.

I hope that people don't start to care about Irene less because of all the Hurricane Hypebeastin/Jersey usually not getting it bad. This is a terrible storm track for us. Be careful!

Irene has her eye on the remaining flats in the park!

I believe all major rides built at the park have to be able to with stand a hurricane, since it is a possibility.
Given that...I'd still be worried about flying objects doing damage.
Just be glad it isn't Fright Fest season!
Keep your fingers crossed.  I don't want to see another SFNO.

Earthquake...Hurricane...What is next?

Winds on the shore are expected to hit 100+ and inland 75 - 80.

And where I am in Virginia it isn't supposed to get above 50. And my mom wants to go to NJ. I don't understand my family one bit.

Of course I didn't have a camera on me.. but it looked like they were doing pretty extensive work to the "foot bridge" in the west between the flume and the kiddie section near the lake.

The section was closed off while I was there on 8-31-11.. water was drained way down and they were definitely pouring concrete.

The area reopened on Wednesday and is now an asphalt bridge.
