Phil does a great Job
Last year he kept us updated with the great fly overs of El Toro
SO lets hope he doe another fly over in a month or so.
Keep up the good work Phil

He does this on his own at his own cost and at the cost of Fuel I'm sure its not cheap to go up.
see his website and the other links below of the flights he took almost monthly as weather permitted
without his updates last year we would have never knew the OVERALL progress AND LAYOUT.
Those updates from the tours mostly took place before Christmas and late last fall (correct me if I'm wrong).
View his site below for other parks and landmarks  he also just added Hershey Park.
www.flyinphilsphotos.com

And yes we also can thank Wade and Diana and the PR dept. for some really fun times this year  :D OLE OLE!

Both were great.

We're SO lucky to have both. Most parks only have construction tours, this we have a chance to get a shot at the park in times like this to see what's going on.

Yes also with the Warm weather and not much rain/snow they should be ahead or on schedule which is always good  :)

The El Toro sunshades were in place the last weekend of the 2006 season.
I suppose they didn't have time to install them until then. ;)
And yes they were much needed.

The last photo in Phil's latest set was awesome...

And it also looks like they saved the Kangaroo from Koala Canyon.
Anyone see where it is??  You can see it in one of Phil's pictures.

Just because we got to be closer to El Toro when doing our tours does NOT decrease the quality of Phil's work.  We were able to get park-sponsored tours every now and then to take pictures and follow the process, while he was able to fly over and get a complete overview of the progress (and here's the important part) at times we couldn't.  I'm not sure if there's anything one could really find bad about his updates in that regard.  You can't even call it inferior, seeing that aerial updates and tours are two completely different things.  I just don't see what you're getting at here, unless it's just blindly insulting him for the sheer pleasure of it.  I hope that's not the case because that is definitely frowned upon.

Thanks very much RJ, PCMAN and everyone else who enjoys my fly-overs.  I realize it's a TEAM effort to bring updates and I'll continue to do my part ;D

So far, I'm shooting for 12/27 (this coming Wednesday) for my next park fly-over....I'll keep you posted, though ;)

I hope everyone has/had a Merry Christmas !!!

Thanks for taking the photos, Phil!  My husband's father used to fly us over various parks a few years back, but he's had some health problems and hasn't been able to fly lately.  It was a lot of fun and I miss it!

Or, I'll save you the trouble LOL   Its been "rumored" that a reprofiling would occur this off-season on the heartline roll.

Does anyone think they will replace the heartline roll with another heartline or will it be a straight away ? And will this mean less down time ? I wonder if it has to do with the valleying that happened this past season? Not enough power ?

Nice shots phil. So with supports missing on chiller what does everyone think will go there ? Just a bunny hill ? As for wiggles world I wonder if we will start seeing foundations soon. It is already Feburary  and isn't it suppose to open with the park in April? When I seen a commerical a few days ago they were really pushing WW. I am not so excited I think if my son liked them it would be different I think we would be excited about Thomas . And if anyone has any ideas on where he will be please share.

The heartline roll will be a small "hump" ;)
Title: Re: Flyinphils Aerial Photo updates
Post by: coastermom on February 17, 2007, 09:40:35 AM
I wonder how that is going to change the ride.Maybe it will make it more comfortable to ride . Less head banging going on .
Title: Re: Flyinphils Aerial Photo updates
Post by: PcMan on February 17, 2007, 11:17:56 AM
As long as it keeps both sides open.
it will be like a new ride at least for the first ride

Title: Re: Flyinphils Aerial Photo updates
Post by: rjholla2003 on February 17, 2007, 01:52:06 PM
The headbanging was taken care of with the restraint switch.  I just can't wait to experience the hump backwards.  That'll be freaky

Post by: PoetwhoKnowzIt on February 22, 2007, 02:40:42 PM
Yes, yes, Robin is red,
Batman is blue,
but sadly so,
only one side on opening day may be ready for you!
The new humps shall be nice and "curly"
Yet lets just be glad the ride shall stay
If you ask me the way things are.... neither side will be ready ready until early....

Is that a new structure being built next to chiller??

Where the lift hill for MTWE uset to exist is a new structure.
Or at tleast it looks new.

Compare two of Phil's great pictures:

 NOW - Photo #10 (http://www.flyinphilsphotos.com/amuse/nj/sfga/2007-11-25/album0)
2006  - Photo #2 (http://www.flyinphilsphotos.com/coasters/sfga/chiller/album0.html)

It doesn't look like any part of Chiller(Not much left  there anyhow)
Some kind of stair structure.

 ???

Looks like it was part of the stairs under the red track so they can evacuate the train if it valleys.
they moved out the stairs
Looks like half the stairs.

That is exactly what it is, the stairs to get people off Robin.
Strange that they would move it all the way over there and not take it apart in place.
But what do I know about taking a coaster down.

If you believe that it wasn't demolished then I don't know how to break it to you, but the ride was gutted and heading to the junk yard.
Title: Re: Chiller Flyinphils Aerial Photo updates
Post by: WadeJ on November 26, 2007, 10:16:00 PM
MTWE is officially good as gone :(  I think what Chuck was trying to say was that the picture shows a clearing from MTWE but in no way indicates how the ride was taken out.  However, the chances of it now being relocated are 100% zero.

Title: Re: Flyinphils Aerial Photo updates

Why?  It shows their typical levels of brilliance and imagination.  These are the same people who came up with such names as Flight Deck, Drop Tower, The Crypt and Backlot Stunt Coaster.  Yes, they did come up with Beaver Land Mine Ride, but we know how that ended.

I was thinking the same thing a few days ago when i seen the updated pics on the Six flags site.
I think they want to "keep it hidden"  with the Movie and theming.

that's why Angle didn't bring in any drawings or theming diagrams to Eastcoaster like they had at No-Coaster 2 weeks before she told me because the Movie Company and licensing wanted to keep it on the down low

these are the pics she wanted to show. \/

if that building is going to house the entire attraction, then there is going to be A LOT of empty space. Wasnt the Chiller's station going to be used for something?
Title: Re: Dark Knight Flyinphils Aerial Photo updates
Post by: Bubba Z on March 01, 2008, 07:38:53 PM
^ I'm going with the Hall of Justice maybe?  I also think it's easier to frame the building without the coaster getting in the way.  Just think if a cable snapped and an I beam fell on the track?  Plus...it will be warmer inside once the coaster can go up.

I was wondering the same thing.  It'll be tight but then again I didn't think they'd fit in a queue for Storm Runner either.  I was suprised to see that the station building covers a portion of the midway.

The first year of Storm Runner they had to use temporary rope queues because it was always overflowing.  Since that year, they've added a bunch more queues.  Hopefully they've learned from that!
