Title: Whats your favorite flat at GADV?
Post by: ChuckR on December 07, 2005, 06:57:06 PM
Alright this could be any flat that has been at GADV.

Mine would have to be Jumpin Jack Flash. It was an amazing ride that always got my adrenaline pumping. Coming in a close behind was the Cows when they first debuted.

My favorite had to be JJF as well, good times. My favorite that is still here is Space Shuttle  :D

i thikn my favorite flatride of all time is the gravitron.  its just so, amazing.  And you know, im pretty sure we dont have one.  ALthough maybe taz twister was?  I never got to ride it.

Out of ours, im going to have to go with pendy.  I loved that ride.

I was a fan of Joust A-bout and the Space Shuttle/ Looping Starship. Iam not a big fan of spinning rides and stick to Drop Towers and water rides. If I had to choose a flat ride today not at Sfgadv,  I would ride the Claw/Revolution or  Da Vinci's Cradle. Ok , back on topic :My final pick would go to the Buccaneer.

Tas was a Turkish Twist, centrifuge ride, just like the gravitron.  The difference between that, gravitron, and the fantacy fling is that the Turkish Twist has a floor that drops and straight walls, Gravatron has slightly tilted walls that IIRC slide upwards a bit, and Fantacy Fling tilts.  Same principle, three different deliveries.

Hmm, right now I'd have to go with Bucaneer as well. I love how it makes my little guys giggle :) If I could pick from rides from the past, I'd have to say a tie between our old Bayern Curve called Swiss Bobs and the El Sombrero/Trabant.

I'm going to go with the Cows. They were just awesome when they were at high speed. I'm going to miss them :(

I remember going on them for the first time and thinking they were just a kiddie ride. Wow, I was wrong. The Cows blew me away!

Actually, Taz is a Chance Rotor, classic one too, not many of them left.  Turkish Twist is also a Rotor, but made by a company called SDC.  It is a much newer ride, and does have some differences.

I won't say what my favorite flat is now, it will likely get removed then :(

Well, I havent rode the flats that were removed (excluding chaos) unfortanately for me so my favorite flat would have to be Chaos, that flat was great and I enjoyed it! R.I.P. Chaos, you will be missed! A close 2nd place would be Stuntman's FreeFall

What really is my favorite flat is the S&S towers in the park that I am dreaming :P !

(Yes, Im Yanks2Jets14 from GADVSource!)

Welcome to Updates Yanks!

Since I never answered what my favorite flat was, it was The Pendulum when it was with us.

Hmm, there have been so many of my favorite flats taken away from us.  But my all-time favorite flat at GAdv has to be Jumpin' Jack Flash. That was the most intense, insane flat ever at the park! It was very long too, and I just couldn't get enough of that sheer speed and intensity in the long period of time. :D I sure miss it though...

oy, still a rangers fan.  sigh.  Its good to see you here though.

personally, i think the flyers belong in first place

I have never gotten the chance to ride JJR but i keep hearing people say how great it is.  What was it?

Heh, yeah, I'm still the die-hard Rangers fan.

This is JJF:
http://www.amusementpics.com/Jumping%20Jack%20Flash.htm
It was so much fun, but it suffered from SERIOUS downtime.
Title: Whats your favorite flat at GADV?
Post by: Nozzy on December 27, 2005, 08:43:36 AM
I agree with JJF, I looked forward to the 4th of July week when it always seemed to be open, although I took my cousin on it enough times in one day that she never wanted to go on again.  Other than that Pendulum, only better since never any lines and open the whole season.  Now, I don't go on our flats regularly, just on days with other people who want to ride them or if there's not a line for them while everything else is mobbed, but I'll say Teacups.

Ohh i remember what it looks like now.  I walked by it but never bother to ask or look because it was always down in that unload position and i really didnt care for it much because i had never seen it run before anyway.

no wonder ive never gotten the chance to ride a jump or a jump2.
Title: Whats your favorite flat at GADV?
Post by: WadeJ on December 27, 2005, 10:47:20 AM
I actually sorta liked JJF but I remember getting all excited when it was finally going to coming out because I thought Dream Street would return to its former glory and unobstructed view.  Then the paintball game showed up :(

I'd almost rather see JJF SBNO now.

JJF was a cool ride but the hard plastic seats hurt my back.

Ok, while we are on quick rants.. I am going to MISS the Foggy bridge AGAIN next Frightfest! That was one of my favorite things at FF and this year it just wasn't the same!....

I wonder where they will put the Giant spider this year.. Would be cool if it climbed up the side of Torro like they do with SFMM's Collosus. :D

That would be cool. I am surprised not all Six Flags do that. SFAW did the same thing.

sorry for being off topic AGAIN!!

I like the Space Shuttle when I feel completely secured.

^ Remember It's Kristin with an "I" . Then again you've been friends longer so I guess you could spell it anyway you like

Another Flat I like is Musik Express.  If I keep going off topic I'm going to run out of flats since they keep leaving.

Well, Musik express better NOT leave but, I really wish they'd use the music booth and bring it back to it's former glory! I forget but, Did Taz Twister get relocated or is that also gone forever? That's the only ride to ever make me hurl!  I am afraid I will only feel bad for those who actually liked it lol.

I dont think Musik Express is going anywhere... it's not really in the way of anything, or in a place that much else could fit in. Now if they'd only play Musik... or call it the "Mute-Express"???

Last I heard was Taz was going... I never rode it, or a Rotor for that matter... they don't appeal to me, so I stay away. Hopefully it stays though, more rides are always better  :D

The only reason I think Taz will survive at Gadv or some other SF park is because of the extensive rehab it just went though.

The paint job, new seats, motor, etc. couldn't have been cheap.  That ride was nearly like new after years of neglect.  I don't think anything went wrong with it since it was open most of the season as well.

I wouldn't be suprised if it popped up somewhere else in the park because of the Rehab it just had.

By seats do you mean the wall was replaced?  Although I'd beat that it would be awesome if they did put seats in lol.  I hope it gets Chaos's old spot, assuming that Chaos is leaving.  It would look a little strange but it could work out.  Of course, if I grow a little more none of this would even affect me.

good point... yes, I meant the walls

Although seats would certainly make for a very interesting ride lol

I'd really like Taz to stay. I guess I'm one of the few people that likes the ride  I've enjyoed it everytime I've ridden it, and definitely provides a thrill. I remember being on it second day of operation this year and none of my friends wanted to go, so I rode with these other girls who were so freaked out by the ride and the op was messing with them :D Pretty funny.

I really loved JJF.  It was one of the best flats ever.  Chaos was a big favorite too.  I loved standing up (as best as I could being harnassed in) to help hurl it over...and over and over and over.  You could really work with that ride to get more out of it.  Also loved Pendelum.  If they give us new flats, I hope they can top these (which will be hard).

Well personally my favorite flat of all time goes to Cedar Point and MaxAir. Having stayed at the hotel and getting to the park early I rode MaxAir like 4-5 times in a row. The ride never gets old and you get a different view from each seat on the ride. It really is an awesome ride.

My favorite flat at Great Adventure would have to Pendulum. That really was an awesome ride.

Just make the spotlights bright white so it makes the tower look like a web. That would be awesome.

------------------

One of my favorite flats is the swings. Even though they arent intense, its just scary coming around of that operator booth thinking your legs are going to get chopped off by hitting it. I also like the feel of like free flying in a way.

Why did we give up so many good flat rides? Thats what i think is bringing down the park besides the lack of theming.

Rodeo was definitely one of the best flats in the park. I am so sad to see it gone. My brother loved it too and he is just as upset to see it go. It was definitely one of the best flats out there. It will be missed, but I am sure they have great ideas for the future of flats at the park.

^ That plus as they age, it costs more to keep them running than they are worth, just like an old car.   At some point you have to decide whether it's a Pinto and not worth maintaining, or a Mustang and worth spending money on.

In the case of rides like Swabinchin and Joust-A-Bout there were maintenance issues for many years before they were removed.   Also, with the State of New Jersey's strict rules on making modifications, any time a ride required a change (like the control panel for Evolution) it took a lot of time and money.   Sending it somewhere else solved some of the problems, plus provided another park with a MAJOR attraction which was only a minor attraction at GA.
