Post by: ChuckR on December 20, 2005, 06:45:00 PM
Well, I was thinking of what ride all you guys thought would be the best addition in 2006. But, being that most of you would pick El Toro...I am not gonna put it on the list.

So it's the Best Coaster of 2006(Besides El Toro)

I'm very torn between Voyage and Tatsu (excluding El Toro).  But I think for me, Voyage will have an edge.

I'm going with Kentucky Rumbler, Just to be different! I have total faith in GCI. With KR, The Voyage and ET all coming next year, It truly is the year of the woodie!

Speed monster looks absolutly rediculous... but being as I'm not traveling over seas this summer... I'm not voting for it (as much as I'd love to)

I am torn between Voyage and The Rumbler... I love GCI's, they're smooth and out of control and fun, but I rode Hades this last summer and was blow away by it... I think after thinking about it for a while, I'll go Voyage. Tatsu is something I look forward to as well, but nothing can beat a good woodie...

I actually really like the Thundebird at Power Park.  It looks like a great CGI design so I'll go with that, even though it's in Finland.

Out of those I think I have to go with Tatsu. Besides the fact that it's only 35 miles from my front door it looks pretty awesome.

Other than that I have to say Expedition Everest.

I have to say Voyage by far.  Flyers just don't catch me that much, and nothign else has been presented that blew me out of the water like Voyage did.  Just the sheer size and magnitude of it is amazing.  Can you say more airtime than Bill O'Riely?

I would have to say Voyager. But Black Mamba does looks pretty neat.

First post on these boards...

Well, my estimated top 5 for 2006 is Voyage, Expedition Everest, Toro, Black Mamba, and SFOG's Goliath, in that order. Voyage will be a top 3 wooden coaster, with its long layout, amazing tunnels, large amounts of airtime, and overall ride. EE will ahve amazing theming and possibly be better than ROTM at USF, which is in my top 10. Toro will have ejector airtime only matched by very few other coasters. Black Mamba is one of B&M's best inverted coaster's spawn, so it will possibly achieve greatness. And SFOG's Goliath is a mix between 2 of my favorite coasters, AC and Nitro.

But in the end, Voyage will be something very special to remember, and will be the best of 2006.

I as well will be riding that sometime soon.. April-ish.

It should be a good one.  But im also very glad to see the reincarnation of some of the best wooden coaster companies, all of the sudden springing back to life.  Perhaps in years to come we will see a new revolution.

steel is out of style anyways :D

I see steel going the way of EE, Mummy, etc. instead of the off-the-shelf style rides.  I think the coaster boom of adding 4 Supermans, etc. are finished.

I'm going to have to say EE, Voyage, and then Speed Monster, but perhaps I will prove myself wrong. I may get down to the Orlando area in the spring... but it would probably be years before I get on Speed Monster.

surely we have seen the end of ride rotation, and ride cloning as well.  Six flags has undergone soo many changes for the better, and we will probably see only original steel rides.

However i dont see six flags going the way of mummy or EE.  Though i could be wrong.

I am not sure about the end of ride cloning, or ride rotation, as over the past 2 years we have seen quite a few flat rides being rotated from park to park. BUT, I think we will not see SF's cloning epidemic happen like it did from '98-'03 ever again.

Steel coaster will always rule the coaster kingdom as far as new rides being built are concerned. They are just too easy to maintain and attract too many people to not add over a wooden coaster. It does make me smile though that all these new wooden manufacturers are coming up as CCI went down 2-3 years ago. Intamin, S&S, GG, GCI, all of them have built stellar rides over the past few years, and I am VERY excited to see what else they have up their sleeves (especially Intamin and GG).

Second post on these boards...

Voyage is looking to be an amazing wooden roller coaster. It has airtime all over the place and everything else needed to be an awsome woodie! SFOG's Goliath will be the best steel out of them all. It is Nitro Jr.! IMO Tatsu will be a flop just like S:UF was to the entusiasts, it is though a step foward in the flyer technology!
