Well, My friend Rob AkA Frissbeeking may just help me hit Dorney and Hershey with my "finally in 2006" 54 inch tall Austin LOL. Others include a badly needed return to Knoebel's, Lake Compounce because Austin needs to experience BoulderDash and, a definate for J2/Clementon park!

My hopeful's include SFNE (S:ROS, DROOL...) and, possibly SFOG for Goliath thanks to In laws moving to SC this year LOL. I may even drop in on either PKD or BGW on my way Down or, back. I hope I can do even half of the above!

Diana, if you have a choice between PKD and BGW...do not think twice...GO TO BGW!!!

BGW is my favorite park out of around the 20 parks I have visited. Amazing theming, 4 GREAT coasters in which you and your family will enjoy, great food, and just an overall great atmosphere. PKD on the other hand is average at best.

First off, I'd just like to say hello to everyone here. :)

Anyway, I never really have plans until the summer begins, as it usually depends on our jobs and stuff. But I'd love to try and hit these parks this summer...

- SFGAdv (of course)
- SFNE (to finally ride S:RoS, which was closed my trip there, and to check out the new waterpark expansions, as well as B:tDK and Mr. Six!)
- Dorney Park (I love Dorney, its a beautiful, fun park, looking to make my 3rd trip in a row (went once each last 2 summers))
- SFOG
- SFA

Don't have kids     (jk)

alright, too late for that one... lol

I guess what helps us the most is getting slick with travel deals online and knowing where/when/how to shop.  I've gotten away with some insane deals to get us to FL while I've spent just as much to go to BGW.

Another way is to figure out what parks are within a day driving distance of a centralized park.  You can probably hit 5 or 6 places from Dollywood for example.

Some of us have bills (And kids) Chuck! Easier said then done when your an adult LOL. Actually, two things will be differant for me this summer.. A) I changed jobs and make alot more money and B) Austin is 54 inches so I have a travel buddy when I get the urge to just hop in the car and go to a park when Rick doesn't feel like it. One thing I hate is driving more then an hour alone. Maybe people that live close by (Cough::Chuck,Rob:::cough) may be interested in doing weekday daytrips with Aus and I LOL. I can't totally torture my kid ;)

Right now for me, our big trip is a toss-up between Chicago (and hitting all the parks along the way), or Atlanta (and hitting all the parks that way).

Either way is a lineup of great parks to visit.

And, any business travel I do will hopefully take me to some new parks as well.   It looks like I may be going to the UK in the Spring, so I'm hoping to hit some parks while I'm there. :D

Well, since I hate flying, I'm rather relieved that my business travel doesn't take me out of the USA lol.  But some day, I'll work up the nerve to go.  My first stop would probably be Tokyo Disney Sea :)

I'd say half of my FL park visits are the result of business travel  lol  I get WAY more than my money worth from my Disney AP :)

Thats awesome though.  I can't wait to see what kind of photos you get if you manage to go.

Adventure City (if it's open - maybe Greg has more info on this???)

The rumor of it's closure are still out there. As for a definate date, nobody knows. I'd also like to get there before it closes. I have yet to get those credits and I've lived in SoCal for 30 years.

The last I saw of it was from Screamscape (this was in November):

Quote
Less than a month after Movieland Wax Museum announced that they were closing forever, just down the road Adventure City was working on a deal to sell their 10 acre site to a condo developer. The 10 acre site just down Beach Blvd. from Knott?s Berry Farm that contained Adventure City and where Hobby City opened 50 years ago has been sold. The family owners are calling it quits and retiring. No final date was given for the last day of operation.

If you are coming for Solace, chances are it will still be open.

As for affording trips, take short cuts wherever you can. If there are 4 people you can go with to share costs (Splitting the room and car 4 ways per person or 2 ways per couple) that always works. Of course you want to go with people you enjoy hanging out with.

Obviously if you are going to be visiting more than 1 park in any chain (SF, CF, Paramount, Busch Gardens/Sea World) then you should take advantage of Season and Annual Passes. When we went to Hershey, Knoebels, Dorney and SFGADV we only had to pay full price for Knoebels. Hershey was open for the Katrina relief and those tickets were only $15. We had Passes for Dorney and SFGADV.

That whole trip for 2 including Airfare, Car Rental, Hotel, Food, Souveniers, etc only cost us about $1100. If we had shared that cost with another couple you could take off 1/2 of the Hotel and 1/2 of the car. That's around $250 - $300.

If you will be in SoCal for Solace, the Knott's AP's are only $90 and they are good for all CF parks. Plus with the Knott's AP it gives you $20 off for Solace.

If you can find a hotel within walking distance (Days Inn at SFOG is good) then that will save you parking charges.

We don't generally stay in fancy hotels. We get compact cars for rentals.

We stayed at the Holiday Express near Dorney when we were out there and that was $80 per night. If you research well you can find great deals.

Also, if you are going somewhere on business you will generally have a day or so free. Use that to go to parks.

If you find any group trips you may want to do those as well.

We found a trip to WDW next october through another website that is $780 for 6 nights, 7 days at WDW. 6 nights at the Carribean Beach, Magic Your Way Park Hoppers, Round Trip Airfare from L.A., Illuminations Desert Buffet and more.

If you really plan well and budget your money you can do alot of trips.
- Gregg
