March 3, 2006 We continued erection through column line 83, column lines 99 through 136 and 138 through 176. The reason we break-up erection into sections is to allow for site access. We also erected through the station and continued into the hairpin turn outside the station. We began painting Looney Tunes Camp Kitchen and Bugs Bunny Wilderness Theater. We ordered lumber and sculptures for the entrance portals of Bugs Bunny National Park. Porky Pig Camp Wagons and Daffy Duck Hot Air Balloons are scheduled to arrive March 15. March 10, 2006 We erected to column line 93. Bents 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, and 131, 132, 133, and 137 are built and ready for installation. In Bugs Bunny National Park, all the kiddie ride foundation is complete with the exception of the newly-added kiddie train ride. Operators booths are in fabrication and scheduled to be delivered March 20. Bugs Bunny Camp Carousel and Bugs Bunny Ranger Pilots are 50 percent erected. Al Rubano, Director of Construction
March 17, 2006 The station deck is poured and we began framing for the interior motor control center in the station. We continued detailing and installing ribbon boards, diagonal bracing, walk boards and laminated track. Erection is complete through column line 219 entering the hairpin turn. The mechanical drive is ready for installation on the lift. Phase 5 and 6 are approximately 65 percent complete. We poured the concrete ballast and pad for the railroad track. We received the Daffy Duck Hot Air Balloons, Porky Pig Camp Wagons and Wile E. Coyote Canyon Blaster and began erection. The Bugs Bunny Wilderness Theater is painted and we began to install fencing. March 24, 2006 Construction on El Toro continues to march forward aggressively for opening. The trains arrived and will soon go through inspection prior to installation.The excitment is starting to really build in Bugs Bunny National Park as the team at Six Flags puts on the finishing touches. All the children rides, area theming, walkways and fencing are coming to a completion. The area will be filled with sound and colors for opening day March 31, when we introduce a whole new section devoted to our youngest guests. Al Rubano, Director of Construction
March 30, 2006 Al Rubano and the entire maintenance and new costruction teams are extremely busy putting the finishing touches on Bugs Bunny National Park. On my visit to the area today carpenters were busy at work securing the new entrance portal and completing the log cabin style Ranger Station. The fiberglass foreman carefully completed the addition of Bugs Bunny to the water tower. Painters were putting on the final touches to the kiddie rides and landscape added beautiful flowers and plants to bring the section to life. April 8, 2006 The race is on for Six Flags Great Adventure and the opening of El Toro. Construction is moving along at a rapid pace. By the end of this weekend we will close bent sections 85-88 and 133-137 at the hairpin where the train leaves the station and also the bridge section 176-179, which is the access point to the walkway along Layaway creek. We have roughly 35 bents remaining that will complete the hairpin turn in the Plaza del Carnaval area.Keep a watchful eye on the next few weeks, because construction is moving quickly. April 14, 2006 The iron workers completed the installation of the structural steel bridge cross-over section that will support the track that sends riders over the Rolling Thunder drop. Carpenders pre-fabricated the two bridge sections that extend between column lines 176 - 179 over the guest walkway that leads to and from the Lahaway creek bridge near Medusa. Final bent fabrication and installation for the super elevated hairpin turn will be complete by the end of the week. Millright mechanics complete the installation of drive systems both in the station and on the lift.Excavation for Tango will begin tomorrow.Al Rubano, Director of Construction
April 22, 2006 We poured the foundation for Tango and the ride is scheduled for delivery and installation April 26. The foundation slab for the merchandise kiosk is scheduled to be poured today and installation is scheduled for Mon., Tues., and Wed. of next week. Foundation for the ride photo kiosk is scheduled for Mon. We are fully erected with El Toro in phase 1, 2, 3 and 4. We fully tracked out in phase 1, 2 and 3. 60 percent of tracking is completed in phase 4 and will be finished by next Friday. We started to erect bents in phase 5 and 6 starting at the cross-over section. Erection of the stairs and ramp section for the station is scheduled for Wed. Al Rubano, Director of Construction
April 29, 2006 We are on the home stretch and have completed tracking in phase 1,2,3 and 4. We are setting column lines for phase 5 & 6 including the Rolling Thunder crossover section. Tracking in phase 5 and 6 is scheduled to be completed May 8. Walkways and queue for Tango are scheduled to be completed May 8. The merchandise kiosk building structure installation is complete and foundation for the photo booth is complete, framing will begin Monday. May 14, 2006 Progress continues with the setting of Plaza del Carnaval entrance portal icon. We are completing the finishing touches of fence work and queue line walkways for Tango. When passing Tango, straight ahead is the completed El Mercado gift shop. We are providing the equipment for the restaurant and finishes for the Bill-of-Fare for La Cocina .Finishing touches and graphics are in progress in El Toro's station. All structural framing and track is in place and gauging of the track is 95 percent complete. Trains are scheduled to be placed May 15.Al Rubano, Director of Construction
