My friend and i were having a debate about roller coasters on boardwalks such as Seaside and Morey's Piers. She says coasters such as nor' easter and great white at wildwood are of the same quality of safety as the seaside coasters are. I told her that wildwood was safer because they were built from actual big time coaster companys and she doesnt agree. What do you think?

Nor'Easter and Great White aren't really boardwalk coasters in my mind, but they fit wildwood perfectly. I consider a boardwalk coaster the ones at seaside. Cheap, lesser known companies are what I consider true boardwalk coasters. I grew up at Pt. Pleasant, Seaside, LBI, and Keansburg. Thats where the cheap, noname rides and stuff are, and thats how I concieve them. Just Wildwood is "Bigtime Boardwalk". Its like comparing Great Adventure to a Jeepers.

When I think "boardwalk coaster", I immediately think of things like Flitzer, RC-40, Wild Cat, and other coasters that you wouldn't dare see at a large amusement park. The "highest class" I see a boardwalk coaster being would be Santa Monica West Coaster. My little brother, who doesn't like roller coasters, called it "The Crappy Coaster" when I was about to get on it for the credit, so my dad forced him to get on. :lol:

Coasters like Nor'Easter, Sea Serpent and Great White clearly are in the more afluent class of coasters.

Boardwalk coasters are one's like the Star Jet and the Looping Coaster at Seaside. Where you feel like the ride might fall apart while on it.

Wildwood coasters are different IMO, such like Nor'Easter and Great White.

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

Chuck pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one, a coaster that feels like and may fall apart and anytime. Any mainstream coaster company/big(over 100 ft) coaster is surely not a boardwalk coaster. Wildwood also does have some boardwalk coasters like Flitzer and Rollies Coaster that I felt insecure on. Flitzer hardly even has a restraint, it's just a seat belt.

The original Jet Star on Casino Pier just had it seatbelt and that thing was awesome. I wish it was still there...

Wizards Cavern...now that was a classic boardwalk ride untill they tore it down. The spiral lift, and I don't even think it had a seatbelt.

Oh man, I had crazy memories of that ride. It had a seatbelt, if I remember right.

It was like a gnarly wild mouse indoors. It was so custom, the turns were so tight, and it was just a unique classic ride.

Any coaster made by Pinfari gets my vote as being a boardwalk coaster.
