Since when did Busch rename the parks again?
« on: May 19, 2009, 01:02:53 PM »
When did Busch Gardens Africa go back to Busch Gardens Tampa and Europe go back to Williamsberg?

I'm happy about the change back but it just seems a bit odd at this point and a waste of money.  Anyway, I'm going to need help figuring out which pass to buy to get me into SeaWorld and BGT next week.

Um, no way in hell am I paying more for a Busch pass than WDW.  It's almost 500 bucks isn't it?!?

I think it's about $350 something, and they have the flex pay option.

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

Platinum pass also gets you re-rides on the coasters (minus Manta)

Um, I (and Rob and Dan and a couple other friends) paid like $230 or so for a two year Plantinum Plus pass to BGE. You can get an even better deal buy buying your pass from Sesame Place.

Holy crap ...that's a good deal. I looked it up on bgt's website where I'd be purchasing it and it was around 460.

Yea, it seems like BGW and BGT prices went up. I have never seen them that high.

So it looks like I need to try and get to sesame place before I leave on monday. Btw - I'm not trying to be lazy lol. It's not easy figuring this stuff out with just a phone. And like now as I cruise around nyc in a cab, my phone is usually my only internet access lol

BGT's prices for passes were much higher than BGW's last year when I ordered ours. With a BGW platinum pass, you get Aquatica, but it's like a $150 up-charge to the BGT platinum pass. Also, the five us got an even better deal because we bought so many passes at once. I think we each saved $50 off the individual Platinum Pass price. Our passes are good at all Busch parks and waterparks except Discovery Cove and we get Premium Parking and Re-rides at all of the parks (except Discovery Cove of course).

Now that I'm on my laptop I can look this stuff up.  Over at Sesameplace.com I found the following:

Quote
2009 Sesame Place Super Grover Season Pass

Admission to Sesame Place, Busch Gardens, Aquatica and SeaWorld with a 2009 Super Grover Season Pass

With a 2009 Super Grover Season Pass enjoy unlimited admission to Sesame Place for the 2009 season, unlimited admission to Busch Gardens (VA, FL), Aquatica and SeaWorld (FL, TX, CA) parks through 12/31/09 and seasonal discounts to Discovery Cove. You’ll also get FREE Preferred parking, preferred seating at shows, Ride Again privilege at select attractions, Meet & Greet visits with Sesame Street Friends, special 30% discount on food and merchandise in 2009 at Sesame Place, discount admission for visiting friends and relatives and more!

So the only bummer I see here is that it expires on 12/31/09.  So it's more of a season pass instead of an Annual Pass.  It also doesn't specify if the free preferred parking is for the other parks as well or just Sesame Place.

They generally give you preferred parking at all the parks.

The Platinum Passes are good 2 years from date of purchase, and will automatically renew at whatever rate you purchase them at.  I've had my BGW Platinum Pass for years and they just take $11.00 from my bank account every month to keep it going.

Brian has the Super Grover and renews it every year, and we seem to have no problem getting all the perks at all of the Busch parks with either pass. He even presented the unprocessed Super Grover pass voucher we purchased online at the gate at BGW and SWF and they let him right in with no problem.

Awesome. Thanks Tom!  You just saved me a drive lol. Looks like I'll be printing the voucher and taking it with me then.

Is it really closing, or is that just a rumor?

I would bet the bank that it's done for. It's been confirmed by at least one source within the park's management.

You have no idea how upset this makes me. :(

I am here in Bush Gardens now in VA and this place is pretty crowded . We have been to the park a few times and it a great place for families . It would be very sad to see if the rumor is true . BTW rode Griffon and Darkastle and both were great rides .

Dan and I asked about re-rides at BGW the other day and no one knew of such a policy.

Big Bad Wolf was a great ride, I'd hate to see it go. :'( Also, how long did you wait for DarKastle becuse when I went there 2 years ago I had waited 2 hours for a 3 minute ride >:(. It was OK though, just not worth that wait.

DarKastle is awesome. I've never waited more than an hour for it, and I don't mind waiting that long for it. It's better than any of the B&M's at the park.

Well, everyone has different appinions on what is worth the wait and what isn't. When I went to Great Adventure with my buddies the other day, we all agreed that Bizzaro isn't worth more than 1 hour, ElToro 2, and Log Flume 30 minutes etc. But, sometimes (especially when a coaster is new) we just have to wait. In my apinion, DarKastle isnt worth a 2 hour wait. Another reason for that is it was in the summer...
