Finally I have some air dates for the Discovery Channel documentary on wood coasters. Only UK and Canada at the moment, but USA dates will follow...

Discovery UK airs "Building the Biggest: Coasters" March 29 at 10pm.
Discovery Canada airs "Building the Biggest: Coasters? March 30 at 9pm
http://discoverychannel.ca/on_tv/releases/building_biggest/

Thanks to everyone at TPR! Particularly those who came to our press conference shoot at Beech Bend Park and everyone who posted comments and opinions on this forum, which helped greatly us at the development stage.

Enjoy!

Liz

I am 100% DREADING THIS

I'll have to watch it in private first just to see if I can let my family see it LOL.  I know for a fact that some parts of it were just simply corny.  So there is no way I can come out of this without seeming like anything but a dork lol.

Thanks for the heads up though Stew.  Now I know that i need to start preparing myself for this moment of total embarressment LOL

Perfect timing , it's on the night before the park opens.  That only gives you 20 hours to prepare yourself for the moment of total embarressment the next night at the park.

For those that are wondering why I'm so freaked, its because of the 1on1 site tour I did with Discovery talking about where I thought the ride would go and how it would interact with the surroundings, etc.  The camera was literally right in my face for 2 hours straight lol.  The worst part is, at the time, I REALLY didn't know where it was going to go and Angel just kept giving me looks of terror LOL.  It turns out I was nearly 100% right.

On top of that, they were at my house with a bunch of us and then Diana, Coastin Steve and I did some shoots at the park together.

I find it funny that the coaster isn't even done and the segment is airing.

Don't worry Wade, we've all had our moments of national embarrassment.  At least it's only cable!

Not sure I would consider Six Flags a "family" in the traditional sense. Ha.

a reminder for anyone that can get this tonight
I will record to dvd then try to convert

Building the Biggest - Rollercoasters
Thurs., March 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
Ever since the American Rosenthal brothers built the Cyclone in 1926, roller coasters have held a terrifying fascination for generations of thrill seekers. The Cyclone quickly became a Brooklyn icon, but in the 1950s families began to abandon the city for the suburbs and the demise of Coney Island mirrored the move from wood to steel in the search for the ultimate gravity defying roller coaster ride. Until now - 50 years later, the wooden coaster is being reborn. "Woodies" offer a very different quality of ride that?s enhanced by a physiological induction of fear. This episode joins the race to build the most terrifying ride, travelling to Indiana, Kentucky and New Jersey where three of the biggest, fastest and tallest wooden roller coasters are under construction. Watch as engineers calculate the winning formula to enthrall, thrill and terrify.

I really wish this was being shown here in the states tonight! At least we get the Best of Amusement Parks 2006 show on Travel tomorrow night!

When you rip it, I have found that SimpleDivx is the best for compression and distribution of the raw MPEG2 files.

Well it was mostly THe Voyage and Kentucky Rumbler as they both have struture up.
El Toro they just talked about and shown the footings and how fast it will go toghter. They talked With AL and the other Foreman.

As for you guys  only 3 of you.  Looks like Diane, bald dude and another dude  ?
all they had of you guys was footage where Diane said about here child riding it and they shown you 3 walking in the park near the foutain only about 20 seconds in all.
Also at the beginning that had some footage of the King  Kinda Ka.
THe show was all over the place they kept going back between the 3 coasters.
They had footage of the beach bend park oweners and the family sitting around a table trying to name the coaster.

Well, I guess thats good and bad... Although my wife will be bummed that our family room isn't in it as will the rest of the gang that killed themselves getting here at 6AM for Discovery

I'm not surprised though.  There really wasn't enough to show on El Toro.

I'm the bald dude btw  LOL

Coastin Steve is the other guy and of course, our very own Diana.
