Vegas' Stratosphere to remove coaster

The Stratosphere hotel-casino in Las Vegas will do away with the High Roller roller coaster that sits atop the 1,100-foot tower.

The coaster, which has operated atop the Stratosphere since it opened in 1996, was built by Premier Rides.

Some four million people have ridden the relatively tame High Roller, which will be replaced by a new thrill ride, according to the AP.

Dang, one more credit I will never get. If I had known that I would have definately ridden it when we were in Vegas a few weeks ago.

When I was in Vegas,  on two different trips that ride was always down. At least the Big Shot was open.  I haven't been back to Vegas since Nyny was built :(

Damn it, I am going there in the summer of '07. Oh well, hopefully whatever the thrill ride is will be open by then.

Well hopefully the new thrill ride will be worth it. I know that a lot of people complained of downtime on High Roller so hopefully this will be a improved ride with less downtime, with more thrill.

Good thing I already got this one! It wasn't anything spectacular, but it will be another coaster gone... hopefully the next ride is better...

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

Yeah, I heard it was just a mild ride that was high up.  Less than mild, actually, and outragously overpriced.  They will probably add something much more worthwhile.  Hopefully the citizens will finally improve that coaster off the side of the strato :).
Great Adventure...taking over the world one record at a time.

That would be insane!! I wonder who would make it now, considering Arrow was going to. Maybe S&S?

An S&S ride up there would have great publicity and probably would be insane. They make some of the most innovative rides and I think that you are right Chuck. They are definitely the company that could build the best, most thrill seeking ride.

ACTUALLY, i bet they could do that. Put it up off the top of the drop tower. You know? That would be sweet. Lets see what happens with this.

I always thought a standard swing ride would be sick up there. Like our Flying Wave.

You mean kinda like this:

I would be scared to death. 200 ft up being held by chains, let alone 1000.
