I'm selling my old car - Discounted for Updates members
« on: May 12, 2007, 09:24:42 AM »
I'm selling my 96' Chrysler Cirrus which has been a 3rd car for us for the last 2 years or so.  Why you ask?  Well, the Lexus is much nicer lol

Basics:

2.5 Mitsu V6
Tan interior
Green exterior
134,000 miles
NJ inspection good through 12/2008!

Recent repairs:

New water pump (died on startup so the motor did NOT overheat)
New timing belt (since the water pump was off)
New front right control arm
Both tie-rods replaced

Mods:

Replaced front grill with a wing badge from a 98 Cirrus to "update" things
Replaced the nasty factory wheel covers with the factory alloys from a 98 Cirrus

Amazingly enough, the car just keeps running. Obviously, it has some typical wear and tear on the body and interior. The rear bumper is also flaking paint due to the previous owner smooshing it into a wall in a parking garage. The bumper is fine but there are flakes of paint missing. No accidents either.

I've posted this on two Chrysler enthusiasts websites for $1,500 which is what I'm asking for here as well.  I'm about to list it in Auto-Trader for $1,950 which is blue book in "fair" condition though I'd say its really in "good" condition since everything does work. (KBB lists good as $2,360)

This car is by no means perfect though!  (Wade not helping the sell now lol)  The main item that a buyer would probably want to do is either replace or resurface the brake rotors.  The brakes work fine so don't worry about that!  Its just kinda annoying because you can feel the pulsing due to the rotors being warped.  Those of you that know cars know that rotors can be found at Autozone for like 30 bucks a pair and aren't that hard to put on.  The only other really annoying issue to me was that the trunk would get when during really bad rain.  There are a few tears in the rubber gasket around the trunk opening so I'd assume this is where it gets in.  But since I'd only use it to commute to the train station (or go to Great Adventure lol), I really didn't need it so I let it be.

If anybody is interested, send me a PM :)

Thanks

-Wade

Here are the photos:

You can see my lame attempt at covering up the flaking paint.  Trust me, it looks better than gray blotches!

Tires are in good shape :)

You know it wouldnt be a bad first car, but thats not for another year or two =/

As long as it can shift to neutral its a good car ;)

Good Luck selling her! :)
