I'm still trying to digest exactly how the hell this could have happened.  This poor girl, her family, all of those that know her and EVERYBODY that witnessed this tradgedy are in my prayers. :(

:o This is a horiable accident . I can't even think of how this poor kid and her parents will handle this. It is a very sad day in deed. We should all pray for them. I was thinking the same thing Wade How did this happen?? The cable snapped ? It just seems like a real freak thing.

Hope all is well and they can reattach
I wonder if the cars dropped after the cable snap

My only question is ...How didn't anyone else get hurt , was she riding all alone? . Talk about a horrible freak accident!  I'm in total shock. I couldn't even imagine coming up with that story like that, let alone happen in real life.

I'd have to agree with the person who said ,  " It's a good thing the ride is so close to the entrance, that way they could get her to the hospital quicker"

I wish her all the best.

I'm sure the Parachute ride will be closed at Great Adventure also ?
that may be the reason you see the Channel 6 News Chopper

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - June 22, 2007 - Six Flags has shut down four thrill rides at parks around the country after a gruesome accident at an amusement park in Louisville, Kentucky.

Yesterday, a 13-year-old girl's feet were severed just above the ankles as she rode the Superman Tower of Power ride. The park's Web site says the ride lifts passengers 177 feet straight up, then drops 154 feet.

A Six Flags spokeswoman says the company has shut down similar rides at parks in St. Louis, Gurnee, Illinois, and near Washington, D-C, as a safety precaution.

Investigators have returned to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom today to examine the ride there.

SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP)

SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) - A drop tower ride at Kings Island is being shut down and inspected today after an accident on a similar ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.

Kings Island owner Cedar Fair Entertainment also is shutting down similar rides at four other parks in other states.

Sandusky-based Cedar Fair says the inspections are a precaution.

It's not known how long Drop Zone at Kings Island will be closed at the park near Cincinnati.

The closings don't affect any other Ohio amusement parks.

The accident yesterday at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom severed a teenage girl's feet.

The ride she was on lifts passengers 177 feet straight up and then drops them at speeds of 54 miles per hour.

My mom just called me in to the living room to ask me if I knew anything about this! I told her what I knew. She read 7 articles! And she said, "I don't want your sister riding anymore drop towers!" My face and hers went like this  :o . There her favorites. And then I explained to my mom that there were different types and that this is a freak accident (she understood). But the funny part was when she said, "Oh, and it's an Intamin!"

Another video link - http://wdrb.dayport.com/viewer/viewerpage.php?Art_ID=12771&Category_ID=3

I was sorta surprised when I went to foxnews.com where i got that link to see the headline "Tower of Terror".  I bet Disney wouldn't be too thrilled with that!

Well, amazingly enough, she is now stable.  Its really odd though that they refuse to speculate on the reattachment of her feet.  I gather they tried and don't know the outcome just yet?

The family has asked for privacy.  They have asked the hospital to not release further details on her condition.

Note that Kennywood's Pitt Fall, [Paramount's] Great America's Drop Zone and Kings Dominion's Drop Zone have reopened, while those at Carowinds and Kings Island (as last I heard) remain closed.
