Rise 'n' Scream Park Update - 7/26/07

Well I went to the park this morning for Rise 'N' Scream and pretty much enjoyed the few hours I was there. Kingda Ka was running really smoothly with both sides of the station open. El Toro was really flying today dispatching early and intensely. On an somewhat upbeat note, Robin did cycle today twice that I saw. I managed to snap a few shots of the train as it went flying by.


Robin roars by during two cycles.

Also, the skyride was running all 4 cables today making it a max capacity ride. I do not know if you can tell by my pictures but I tried to take a picture of all 4 cars in one picture.


SkyRide runs at max capacity to hold the incoming crowds.

Speaking of Kingda Ka also, they have done away with the rope queue line that runs all the way up to the bathrooms. Now, it is back by the original entrance. I want to guess this is because the capacity of the ride is so good and the lines are moving so quick that it really is useless to make guests walk that whole line.


Kingda Ka's queue now starts back by the original entrance.

The two last things that I think deserve to be spoken of is that Twister received a brand new sign which I think fits in perfectly with it and is themed to it nicely. Also, one of the old park admissions booths has been converted into some sort of ticket vendor for the Tropicana Casino and Resort. I didn't really search it out since I am not old enough to go into the Casino's just yet.

Well that pretty much wraps up the whole update. Feel free to ask any questions that I may have missed. I have a few extra pictures but nothing spectacular. Here is the album link.

Woah thats all really great news. I especially like the original Ka entrance thing.

I was at the park today as well and I was very surprised when I got to Kingda Ka and the rope section of the line was missing. The regular entrance is much better, they were not even handing out tickets today when getting online, although they did for El Toro.

I thought the ride was closed when I got there and didn't see it in the normal position!

Hey Clint, thanks for sharing the update :)  Nice to see Chiller sorta coming back to life.   To be honest, I've been wondering why they were using that crazy entrance setup all season.  Minus the typical 5-10 minute reset shutdowns, Ka has been swallowing people at a excellent pace this season.  I have yet to see them do that thing where they fill the rope area and cross the path to the tent behind GASM.

Anybody else notice how many cars are on Robins train???

Yeah, I do not think we are going to be seeing 4 cars anytime soon unless they get Robin back online and running with the public.

...Or they could take the easy way out and just open the Batman side? :)

That is what I was thinking.  Why not at least operate the better, less used side lol

From what I heard, 4 car operation didn't go too smoothly so I don't think both sides will be running together anytime soon.  It looks to me like they are already preparing to just get Robin back online the way it was before.

Trust me, it definately would have been better.  The station management wouldn't have been to big of a deal either.  Just rope off the row and change the sensors I would think.

I haven't validated it yet but what I heard was that the computer re-programming required for the 4 car change was just too difficult.  Take that with some salt though ;)

They WILL get both working again :).  Its just a matter of waiting for 2 new cars or figuring out how to reprogram the ride.  I say we "borrow" them from Jokers Jinx since that is always running 1 train anyway lol

Well props to maintenance for still trying to get this ride working this season and not casting it off like they did last season pretty much. Of course there were more reasons to last season but still.
