2008... 8)

sorry to double post, but, in 2008 their going to re-do the loop body slide that they had at Mt. Creek.  That's right kiddies, a looping water slide. ;)

ADMIN EDIT: This was split from the Hurricane Harbor topic.  Feel free to continue discussions on that death trap formally known as Action Park :)

Well, the looping slide never opened.  They tried but for obvious reasons, didn't succeed.  And I'm not sure they needed to increase the death toll there either.

As for the Alpine Slide, I believe its gone :(  Just like Camelbacks, they seem  to be dissappearing quickly probably due to insurance costs.

Action Park kind of though it out.  I mean they had an escape hatch if you didn't make it.  Poor planning demolished what could have been a somewhat decent ride

peppermint twist as of 2003 was SUPER rough

I would confirm that for 04 as well. That's why I stuck with Lemon Drop.

How would that looping slide work . Head first on your back.  I wouldn't even attempt that slide knowing I would smack my head on something.

feet first on your back probably.  Im willing to give it a try.

and if only they smoothed out the connection pieces in the peppermints it would be so much nicer.

The thing that I'm wondering about is how the water would stay on the slide during the loop.  They would need to shoot it super hard through jets to keep it saked, and if you shoot the water too hard, it would pprobably hurt the rider in some way...it would have been very intresting to see

That stupid slide always works it's way into conversation. LOL  I used to think "why don't they loop water slides?"  Then I saw that. That is pure insanity.

Since this is Action Park, you probably got splinters trying to get to the top of the platform and would probably collide with the person in front of you that didn't make it around the loop since they forgot to check that each person made it through alive.

And to top it off, they probably forgot to add some sort of escape hatch for those that didn't make it around the loop so now a bunch of people are stuck at the bottom of the hill with water rushing around them.  There are so many reasons that this should never have been made LOL.  Thank goodness it never opened.

For some reason, maybe because I board Creek, but whenever I hear Action Park, I get chills. I've never been to Creek's water park but you can see the slides when on the gondola and they look eerie covered in snow. That loop looks crazy.

Maybe we should murge the topic into something about Action Park/Mt. Creek.

Just a little bit of background...I believe Action Park was closed in the late 90's because the owners were fraudulent, and had various negligence crimes against them (go figure )  They were infamous for having rides no other parks would have, like speed slides that were VERY VERY close to being 90 degrees verticle, as well as at least building a looping water slide.

Finally! Someone found a pic of that ride! I remember seeing that going to Action Park as a teenager. There was no way I was getting on that thing after the horror stories my uncle told me (He was a lifeguard there). He said people would get stuck, or not make it around. The hatch (IIRC) was on the top.

How tall was that loop? I can't picture anyone making it through it.

From the link that innervision gave, someone on the boards said that the "The loop couldn't have been more than 10-15 ft in diameter!" Here is another photo from that same link:
