ACE Riding of the Bull event
« on: March 07, 2008, 02:29:11 PM »
As noted today in the NJ ACE newsletter
Late August/September 2008:
looks like there will be a "ACE Riding of the Bull"  event at Great Adventure

Details and exact date are still being worked out but expect great emphasis on El Toro ERT and activities. This event will be open to ACE members and their guests ONLY!

looks fun

Nice!  Maybe Six Flags is trying to make up for the lack of events last year.

The park hosted ACE's Preservation Con last year which is part of the reason why they didn't have an event of their own. Add in the fact that they got a late start on the Coaster Celebration planning and then couldn't find a good date operationally in the fall. At the Pres Con the park announced they wanted to do two enthusiast events per year. I've been working with the park to make the ACE event different from CC. Coaster Celebration features ERT on all of the park's signature coasters while I'm pushing for Riding of the Bull to concentrate heavy on El Toro. No guarantees yet on how much ERT, cost or even a date but the park is definitely interested in having an ACE exclusive event. I will keep everyone posted! Thanks for your interest.

which kept me away

Matt... if you haven't yet, you most likely wont. Good luck with trying though ;)

That's the reason why we're not attending Coaster Celebration.  As much as we'd like to support the park, we just can't afford to spend that much money on a park that we have a season pass for.  I hope that Riding of the Bull will be better price-wise so that we can at least attend that.

I think the ACE event may be cheaper since its not for the public. (past club events only cost around $16-$30+) normally cost of a Meal and then some.
But yes it was like almost $60 last year (coaster celebration) so I passed.

I will be doing Dorney the day before (Friday) for $23  FREE for season pass holders.
and Hershey so I can checkout Fahrenheit
and Moreys a few weeks later,  I'm expecting more info on the new woodie they want for 2010.
I think its very cool that Morey is so public (at least to the event attendees) about what we as coaster enthusiast think would make a good coaster.
If other parks did this we would have some nice fun better coasters out there.

Holiday World does do that and has for some time...its coasters are legends that people voyage a long way to and are raven about!

I wish I had more info to share about this event but even nailing down a date has become a slow process. Last time I spoke with Angel (who's not responsible for events, btw), she said the park is still very interested in hosting ACE. Perhaps they also want to see how attendance at Coaster Celebration fares. If the ACE event happens, it'll most likely be in August (not September due to other park events and operations). My vision is night ERT and an afternoon meal. If the meal drives up the price, I'll see about taking that out too. The goal is a great night session on El Toro.

By the way, in addition to Dorney's Coaster Madness and SFGAd's Coaster Celebration, we're having ACE Day at Casino Pier on that Sunday. An entire weekend in the NJ/PA area!

Just a suggest for the meal if there is one, some of us would like to keep it simple with fried chicken, rolls and soda. I like having a meal at events as long as it's not fancy. It doesn't need to be special, just tasty and a better value than the park offerings. Otherwise, no meal at all is good. Right Bubba? ;)

And still others want at least ONE choice that isn't the fried stuff available throughout the park....

The SFOG event is always catered by Mother's....and they have fantastic food, including steamed veggies, lasagna, chicken tetrazinni, rolls, an incredible Caesar salad, delightful brownies, Coke products or tea--sweet or unsweet, and no doubt other things I didn't eat!

IMO, that's what I meant by "fancy", but I understand your point about some people preferring something not fried. Honestly though, the italian dishes aren't any healthier. In fact if they are any good, they are likely much worse for you! :)

I love lasagna myself, as well as fettucini alfredo, but some cheap, crispy fried chicken is what I'm in the mood for at these events, or even simple hamburgers or pizza.

Yeah, you're not gonna please everybody.

Last event meal I had at the park was the European coaster club day  2 years ago.
it was good was around $16 for season pass holders and 1 hour ert on Kingda Ka
i think it was the typical chicken , burgers and yes veggies for the vegetarians.
plus the ice cream cups, drinks salad + more etc.

I like the meals since they are all you can eat and I'm very hungry walking all day around the park.
its also a good time to relax and catchup with old friends.
