Storybook Land 5/13/08

Weeks ago I scheduled a day off from work to go on my 3 year olds field trip to Storybook Land.  This would not only help out my wife since she would have the baby along but also allow me to spend the day with my son in a park that I have not been to since I was probably 7 or 8 years old.  I had low expectations though.  My thought was - it?s better than being at work :D.  Plus, I'd be getting a credit to boot.

Fortunately common sense prevailed when his teacher called our house at 7:15AM on Monday to let us know they are moving the trip to Tuesday due to the freak nor'easter.  And even better was that my boss was cool enough to let me swap days (I was worried with already having Thursday and Friday off).  So now we had awesome weather and an amazing day together.

So, my low expectations weren't warranted to say the least.  This park has BIG TIME expanded from what I remember.  I could only recall the freaky huge nursery rhyme things and the little houses here and there along with a few classic flat rides.  I knew about Bubbles and was looking forward to the credit but even that exceeded expectations.

The park is very well maintained and had an outstanding collection of rides and themed elements.  And while they seem to be reproducing Zamperla's left and right, even these rides were well themed and appropriately chosen.  The only (literally only) downer of the day was the Turtle ride being down as it was being completely rehabbed.  Otherwise, we did every single ride and attraction.

Onto the pictures :)

Bubbles!  Lots of fun, two laps and airtime!

Great Adventure should have a train like this

For some reason, this one felt more fun

Oh well :(  Maybe next time

OMG WHAT ARE THEY BUILDING NEXT!!!!

The park is VERY pretty with lots of trees

This bathroom was nicer than Disney Worlds and you could sit and pray to boot!

Or you could pray in the actual chapel :D

Little details like this are why we loved it so much

Don't do it Kyle!  Yes, that is real ice

The kids loved running in and out of things like this

Again, nicely themed

They have animals to!  Although sadly one cage was damaged badly by the storm the day before

GIVE ME THE CAMERA

Kyle didn't like this ride but Faith did lol

They had some amazing antiques

Scary stuff like this is all I could recall from my childhood at the park

And to end....

Thanks for reading :)

It looks like we'll be going back at Christmas time now every year :)

lol  thanks

And actually, we were at the Cape May Zoo on Sunday for mothers day after visiting family at the shore.   A great day and a nice zoo - esp. for being free!

Oh man, major bummer on the spinning turtles being down. Go to Dutch Wonderland. Dan and I got a great ride on theirs a couple weekends ago!

Great TR, Wade and cute pictures of the kids.  Storybook Land is an awesome park.  We've been there a couple times during Christmas and their light displays can't be beat!

I was at the zoo on Friday, and Melissa was at the zoo again with her mom for mothers day too... probably w alked right past her. Nice report too by the way... I think I might miss my winter trips to SBL, but I think being able to visit IOA, Disney and all that other good stuff will make up for it ;)

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

Great TR. I agree with the need for a train for GAdv. Rob was talking about that yesterday on the Big Wheel. Is that spinning ride anything like the little teacups in Looney Tunes Seaport?

Josh if you see a Storybook Land Planning Thread on the boards sometime, feel free to join us.
Prepare to weather the storm!
