Overlord's Orlando Trip
« on: June 04, 2009, 11:27:53 PM »
Ok so I am going down to Orlando early August for a national convention for my fraternity. Firstly, what's the best place to rent a car in Orlando if we are gonna be there for a week approximately?

Secondly, I would like to visit a few theme parks directly in the Orlando area including SeaWorld and Universal. Are there any coupons or cheaper methods of getting tickets to these parks because I was quite shocked when I saw the price online. I am not trying to break my bank here with this trip so if I were to cut out one park, which one should it be?

Any info and tips for Orlando would be greatly appreciated, especially from Rob and Wade. ;)

Why is this locked?

Get in touch with me outside of here, like on AIM or cell phone.

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

Go to Sea World  and use AAA.   Don't rent from Avis.  I locked this since you only cared what Rob or Wade had to say  :P

First of all get Enterprice Rent a Car. Very good prices. For Universal I got a discount by going to Wendys. It might be only for Season Pass though Im not 100% sure!

Wendy's isn't running the Universal $99 Promo anymore, mostly just Sea World, Busch stuff.

I'll check back with you later but just do your best if you can swing the cost to get your car directly on site at MCO.  Don't fall for this off-site car rental crap.  You will lose over an hour of theme park time.  Enterprise, Avis, Alamo and National I think are your best choices for cars right at the airport.

FYI

If you plan on going to Universal more then 2-3 days or once or twice a year get a annual pass
what i did a few years ago
Bought the power pass for around $110
then they sent me a renewal before my expiration to upgrade to the preferred pass for $117 a savings of $100  :)

on the Website now the Power pass I see is $149
and the Preferred is $229

but if you buy one the following year they offer the next higher one for the same price.
Yo

I am only going for a week, mostly for a national convention for my fraternity. I am only going to have three days of total free time and figured I would hit up some coasters while I was down there.

Alright I am going down on Monday now. Does anywhere in Orlando rent to a 20 year old and how much of a surcharge are we looking at as well?

Ahh dude, that sucks. You need to call them direct and fast. Assuming you are going this coming Monday or is this thread a week old? Lol. I can't see the time stamp in the wap portal.

Anyway, good luck either way. I would have said to just do cabs and shuttles at that point.

Heres what I say. Use Alamo. They have convineint cars and prices. If you don't want to spend to much.... TRY Seaworld and Discovery Cove. It will be crowded in the summer.

Enterprise was somewhere in the neighborhood of $35 a day when I rented a car last, with an under-25 driver fee of ~$15.  Not too bad!

So we ended up getting a fullsize van for 600 for the week to haul around all 11 of us. It was a good week. We did Universal Islands of Adventure and all I have to say is that Harry Potter world is coming along nicely and wow is the Hulk intense.

Even if it opened on Thursday, I wouldn't have been able to go due to the convention. But we were at Hard Rock Thursday night and I said to myself, this thing looks ready to roll, why isn't it working?
